Leg exercises

Im looking for some leg exercises to do as apart of a upper and lower body workout. I have the uppper body sorted but want some leg exercises. Im looking at doing:

Hack squats (sled type)
45degree Leg Press
Leg Curls

How does this sound? Any changes?

ditch the leg press and leg curls, isolation will get you nowhere. like nobody said, do some real squats ;)

If you're not going to do very many leg exercises, you might as well do the most effective ones. Squats, Romanian Deadlifts, Lunges, etc.

Bilateral: Squats, Front Squats, Sumo Squats, Hack Squats, Deadlifts, Romanian Deadlifts, Straight leg deadlifts, Sumo deadlifts

Unilateral: Split squats (aka static lunges), lunges, bulgarian split squats, walking lunges, split deadlifts, bulgarian deadlifts, one legged deadlifts, bulgarian romanian deadlifts, etc. Too many to name.

thanks, but that doesnt really explain the difference between the hack and regukar squats.

Does anyone know a good alternative to doing leg extensions?

It's hard to say... it really depends on what you're working out for. Bodybuilders do stuff like leg extensions and leg curls because all they care about is how big/toned their muscles look. If you are trying to get stronger, you should leave out isolation exercises, and do things like squats, etc. Leg extensions are for the quads, so a good compound exercise to target the quads would be zercher squats or wall sits. I do those and my quads feel like they're on fire afterwards.

And I'm not quite sure, but I think that hack squats are just squats on a machine.

Are you asking mechincal diff or physiological?

Mechanically, you're holding the barbell behind you legs. Physiologically, it cause a different firing of synaptic responses in the muscles.

I cited a bunch.

mustang, I think the hack squats you may be referring to are the "sled" hack squats..the machine, correct?

The hack squats that cynic is talking about are the real hack squats in which you hold a barbell behind your body and squat, i'm sure there are videos and pics online, I'm sure I have one somewhere, i'll look.
