leg excercises for jumping and explosiveness

specifically this is about basketball. you can be as fast as you want down the court, but its the 1st and 2nd step that really make the difference between the schooler and the schoolee.

so whadya all know? love some advice.
 
if you are just wanted to improve your leg strength and explosiveness, then you cant go wrong with squat and power clean. Now if you are just wanting something to improve your foot speed then i would recommend ladder drills and plyometric drills. there is a book call "jumping into plyometrics" that is pretty good.
