Leg DOMS

I've been working out for about two yearws. When i work out chest or back or arms or anything else, i rarely have any muscle soreness. But when i work out legs, heavy or light, the soreness sometimes is alwyas there. On Friday, i did a 5 X 5 on squats and deadlifts, my legs are still killing me today. I dont think they are overworked, cause i did give them about 3 weeks off in April.

Does anyone else have this type of problem?

What is your recovery protocol? Are you soaking or icing sore legs?

Do you stretch AFTER?
Have you looked into foam rolling?

Sometimes my leg workout ends with 5 minutes, 2mph, and a steep incline on the treadmill to 'walk it off'. Foam rolling helps release tightness too.

This is a very interesting subject... something I have always wondered about myself...

Whenever I work legs I am seriously sore for a week afterwards. I do stretch afterwards...

Also, something else that is interesting is that the soreness doesn't really come on until the second day after training.

So if I did legs Wednesday they would start to be VERY sore on Friday.

For a while i did about 15 min HIIT after doing legs, they were sore, so for about 4 months, i just did 10 easy minutes of easy cycling or walking or eliptical etc, still sore. Now i just stretch.

No ice, but a cool/hot shower usually follows my workouts

I agree with Malkore about stretching or foam rolling. My legs used to always be sore a day or two after leg day that I had a hard time walking or bending over to pick something up lol. But ever since I started stretching and foam rolling afterwards.. I rarely get stiff or sore.

How exactly would i use the roller? Should i go into a pushup position, but with the roller under my quad, they roll back and forth using my arms keeping the pressure on my quads?

Thanks

great guide, thanks alot!
