Lanky Male Needs Toning

Howdy,

I'm 6'2", 150lbs, and absolutely zero definition. I'd like to gain a little weight, as well as get some definition - but just a little.

I love to run (do 30 minutes every other day), and am willing to do more of it if it could help. I also enjoy bike riding, but don't do it as often as I don't want to overtrain my leg muscles.

I would also like to gain better upper body strength. I've got weights that go up to 20lbs, but I don't have a bench and I don't have the money for one now. Any dumbbell exercises I could do in this situation? Also, how many pushups daily would you recommend I do?

Hmm... as far as diet goes, I suppose I would just cut out junk food intake. My general "diet" is mini-wheats (or some other fibre rich cereal) in the morning, fruit about an hour later, whatever goes for lunch (usually some sort of lunchmeat sandwich; sometimes dinner leftovers), and dinner consists of a basic meat/potatoes/vegetables meal. As far as sweets go, I sometimes indulge myself in a snack bag of those Famous Amos cookies. They are damn good, but I would be willing to sacrifice those delicious cookies if it was deemed best for me to do so.

I try to drink six bottles (500ml) of water daily, but usually only get four down by the time the day is over. I rarely drink coffee or alcohol.

If anyone can suggest workout routines/eating habits for me, that would be fantastic. Need more info? Let me know and I'll see what I can do

Thanks.

You need some muscle mass that means getting under the iron and squating. Pulling some iron and deadlifting and pushing some iron by bench pressing.

Long duration cardio done excessively will eat up your muscle mass.

Eat more protein and less bread and potatos. Lots of veggies and lean proteins.

if you haven't done any resistnace type train ing before you will still make pretty good gains even with high reps...if you don't much wt at home maybe some dense bodyweight stuff is what you need

you need to eat maybe twice as much as you do now as your not going to have a tendency top put on a lot wt considering your wt / ht status...try and cut cardio in half but if you do it for theraputic reasons stick with it
