Laele's place

Hey everybody,
sorry for the lack of posting in the last few days. I'm studying for exams at the University and I'm very stressed. The weekend went fine funwise but not so fine foodwise. Oh well, I'm back on track now. yesterday I studied all day but around 9.30 pm I forced myself to go run a little and did 5km. I hope I will find the time to do it today but tomorrow I have my calculus exam and I really need to study all day and all night.

I promise I will visit your diaries once this stupid exam is over. I hate calculus!!!

good luck with your exam!

(ImmortalVampire is doing a calculus exam as well - man, I don't miss University exams!)

And equal good luck with your diet!

The exam sucked. It was much more difficult than I expected. I hope I did enough to pass, 'cause I really don't want to do it again. Plus, on my way to the university I met some people I wished never to see again in my life, 'cause they hurt me so bad in the past that just seeing them makes me want to cry. So, bad bad bad day.

Today is looking a little brighter: my weigh in this morning was 80.4 kg and I'm so happy 'cause this means I'll be under 80 kg very soon. I haven't been under 80 in ages!!! This morning I went to the store and bought a lovely dress for a wedding I have to go in October. Shopping always cheers me up!
I managed to persuade my mum to give weight loss another chance. She tried so many times to lose weight but either failed or didn't manage to keep it off, so she was a bit reluctant. This time I want her to lose it and keep it off, because I know how important it is to her and her health. I'm glad we're doing this together now, 'cause we're very close and it's going to be easier for us both if we have each other to count on.

Its cool that you can do it with your mum, having someone else to motivate you will make a big difference and help both of you out.

Dont worry about the exam. Remember, everyone thinks they do worse in exams than they actually do. Im sure you did well.

Keep going on the diet and keep working hard exercise wise - you'll hit your goal weight before you know it have the best summer of your life.

Hey! awesome that you got your mom to get with you to lose weight, that's awesome to have a buddy. Also, i'm sorry you didn't do as well as you expected on the exam. Keep working on other aspects of your life and everything will look up!

Good luck getting under 80kgs!! :D

I'm so tired it's ridiculous. I have to write a huge paper for next saturday and I only wrote like 38 pages out of 80. I've got no idea what to write next 'cause the professor wasn't clear at all. I'm stressed. I hope october will come soon and that my schedule will clear up a bit. It's so difficult being at home all day, sitting in front of the computer without munching at something! I make it up drinking lots of tea and eating carrot sticks.

Haven't lost any weight in three days but that time of the month is two days away so I'm not worried 'cause it always makes my weight fluctuate a lot. I'm actually surprised I haven't gainded!

Tomorrow some friends invited me and the BF to a very fancy restaurant to celebrate their engagement and while I'm very happy for them I'm kind of worried 'cause I'm not sure I'll be able to refrain to eat all the good things I'd like to.

Have a good weekend!

Laele

honestly dont worry about eating something bad. just share a bad appatizer with them and then have a healthy meal. Dont completely exclude yourself from them. Just indulge a little and make up for it with a healthy meal. This is a lifestyle change and these events we can't avoid. Besides how many times does your friend have an engagement party?!?!

I'm very late for lunch with our friends but I can't help it, I have to share the good news with you: I'm under 80!!! 79.9 :D I know that after today's lunch I'll be back to 80 and some but right now I'm just soooooooo happy! I haven't been this low in at least two years!:hurray:

Congrats, have a nice lunch and then make up for it afterwards. I bet you won't eat anywhere near as much as you would have done before you started your new lifestyle :)

First month

It's been a month since I decided to lose weight. I must say I'm really happy with how it's going: I'm eating healthy, I'm eating enough and I'm exercising regularly. I feel great and I feel in control of my body again. I'm proud 'cause during this first month there have been moments when it seemed everybody wanted to sabotage me but I kept going and didn't give up. I lost 4 kg (for how many lb that is look at the ticker in my signature) and I didn't expect to lose as much.

So, october here I come! I hope Halloween will find me fitter and healthier.

Love

Laele

woohooo!!! I am stoked for october as well!!! It's my birthday soon and halloween and everything. I really think I am going to shed some good weight this month. Keep doing what youre doing! You'll be light as a feather by halloween!!

well done laele, 4kg is great and better than I did. I'll have to try extra hard to catch your weight loss rate this month. Good luck!

Thank you everybody for your encouragement!

Looong time, no update. I've been very busy which is good 'cause it keeps me away from food. As of this morning I officially lost 5kg but I haven't updated the ticker yet, 'cause the weekend is coming and I always go a little off track on weekends.

University is crazy right now, I have a huge course load. I'm up studying till late at night, but I do it happily 'cause I'm having good results. I aced my calculus exam (only 9 out of 60 people passed) and also my phisics one. I'm now preparing a project of environmental education to do in a school. It's going to be a lot of work but also a lot of fun!

hey Laele, I was going to say a very very late "welcome to the forum" LOL but it would be far too late now you've been here for a month!! I've been off sick so not had time to read through your diary until now but wanted to say congrats on having such a good first month - losing 5 kg is brilliant and what great motivation for continuing onto the next 5!! To do that in the face of temptation from the MIL and the stress of exams - well done!

A few days ago my right foot started aching while I was walking on the treadmill but I didn't pay much attention to it. I wish I had. This morning I woke up and it was swollen, especially around the heel. I went to the doctor and he said it's bursitis and that I need to stop walking until it goes away. He said I probably got it by using the wrong shoes, too tight on the heel. He's probably right, a bought a pair of cheap shoes and they're not exactly comfortable but I thought they would be ok for just walking.

I'm so upset right now! I want to exercise 'cause it makes me feel so good! I think as soon as the swelling goes down I'll go buy a new pair of shoes and this time I'll pay more attention to what I'm buying.

Hope it clears up quickly! When I started running, I bought a pair of Asics running shoes and had them professionally fitted (i.e. they put you on a treadmill and film you jogging for a few meters to see how you run and what kind of support you need). They were expensive (around £70) but there were cheaper pairs - I have to say though, they made teh WORLD of difference. It was like walking and running on air and I could go so much further without my feet hurting at all.

As for your post on my thread - believe me, I didn't start off running 7km!! I started on the Couch to 5k program (google it) which builds you up from walking for minutes, running for 60 seconds to the point where in 8 weeks you can run 5km. The best tactic I find is to run outdoors (previously I thought I could only run on a treadmill with a tv in front of me!!) - outdoors there is so much to distract me and look at and think about as I'm running along and I run away from my home...so I have to then run back!! Rather than just laps around somewhere or a treadmill that I can get off of.

Stupid bursitis is taken ages to go away. The doctor says I can't run for at least 15-20 days.:toetap05: I will bike instead even if I don't like it as much, especially with cold weather. I am so upset about this!
