Ladies: Don't Lose Those Hips!

Hey ladies, I was watchin TV the other night (According to Jim and George Lopez) and I noticed that all the women on there have that no hip, no butt look goin on. As attactive as the rest of their bodies were, this was not attactive at all. More and more I see the no hip look and it's really not attractive. From a biological standpoint, men find women attractive based on cues to gene carrying and childbirth. Wider hips are indicitive of fertility, and men will naturally find a woman with hips more attractive than a woman without.

Just my 2 cents.

yeah, even if I would turn into an anorexic stick, my hips would never be like that of a supermodel. I have hips, plain and simple (happy to have em though) besides, there are also "fuller" girls who lack wide hips.

Ermmmm some of us are just built that way.. :s

I'm sure even someone with naturally small hips looks better than some of these women.

But this is what I'm talkin about. IMO, this is overboard. Her hips/rear end used to be closer to normal. Through exercise and fashion, she's managed to make her hips/butt dissapear. It's becoming a trend, but it ain't sexy.

ok well atleast I have a butt... thanks to all those squats and deads but i don't have full hips, not even when I was prego!!

okay if guys prefer it and we like it too ladies - why the heck are there skinny-arsed women running around modelling clothes and acting?

i have a theory that they are veering towards the androgenous look because of the high amount of gay men in the fashion/entertainment industry. they are the ones designing the clothes for flat chested, flar arsed, no hipped women!

please feel free to shoot me down in flames, but i can't think of any other reason why!

it's obvious clothes look better on a cleavaged and curvy woman, even if she is slim or fleshy!

xx

ummm are you refering to me??? I'm gonna cry... I have no chest or hips thank god I have a butt!!! I feel bad now!!! :(

your butt excuses you i reckon! I'm sure you are just slim rather than anorexic looking.

from your picture you look pretty healthy...i don't see bones jutting out of your shoulders like razors as you do with some "models" - you know that sort of gaunt, cut look as though they haven't had a good meal in weeks!

i was more questioning the fact that if boys love our butts/hips/boobs, whatever it is - they love it bigger and fleshier than you see in the movies, on tv or in the mags - then how come we are relentlessly having really skinny women as the models/actresses?

surely they would need a mix? if a fshion designer wanted to sell more clothes, surely he'd have models; slim like you and curvy like me (remember sohpie dahl in her heyday mind you!) to reflect the wondeful diversity of woman.

just curious....didn't mean to offend!

ahhh ok that I agree with!!! there is a desparate need of a mix of women out there .. I prefer to think of my slef as very fit not skinny.... its cool :D

Don't worry Jenn. You are not the skinny type refered to here. Big difference between fit (yummy) and skinny (gross). Men notice it. It's night and day.

Queen Sheba, I think you are on to something about the gay designers. Global malefication! Nooooo!!!

That's Courtney Thorne Smith, and believe it or not, she was actually skinnier when she was on Ally Mcbeal. She ended up quitting the show due to the huge pressure to be thin (led her to anorexia), probably most influenced by her costars Calista Flockhart and Portia de Rossi. Omg, I was never into the show but I remember reading the tabloids and seeing the pictures; they were disgustingly thin when they were on the show. They looked worse than Lara Flynn Boyle. But thankfully Calista, Portia, and Lara have all gained weight and look so much better than they did before.

Off topic I guess, but tI have to say this:

Zah Zah, can I ask you why you are still here? I mean, a lot of us (like Jenn for instance) have given you great advice, but all you talk about is getting skinnier and about that you don't care if you start to look scary.

This forum is for people who want to adapt a better lifestyle and look and feel better. They're talking 1500 kcals and up. You're talking about 1000 and below. Complete strangers (like myself) started to worry about your health. But you don't care. You want to lose weight anyway and once you reached your goal you'll want to lose even more, etc etc until you look like a concentrationcamp victim.

So what's the point of your visit here?

On topic: my friend used to say: more curves means more for my guy to love :D
No wonder why celebs like Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba, beyonce and JLo are so popular ;)

I think everything Hollywood is done over the top these days. It's just too much or in the case of this thread.... too little :)

The best thing we can do is to realize women are beautiful the way they are. There is a real human inside of every "body". Someone with dreams, goals, fears and stories.

Personally, I think a woman is sexy when she has confidence in herself. No matter what her size.

I'm with ya, Lynn. Hollywood has done more to destroy the self-esteem of little girls than any other thing or person. Not that Barbie helped ; )

Be happy in your own skin.

I'll always have big boobs and be, um, curvaceous. Lots of times I wish I could wear some of those slinky outfits that the skinny chicks wear, but I can't, cuz there's no where for the boobs! And if there is room for them, there's no bra and no way to get one under there! I'm really tired of bathing suits that won't support the amply-endowed. Seems the ones that are made for the larger chest are all Grandma cuts. It's such a hassle to find pants to fit my hips that are then a mile long. If I get the right length, I can't otherwise fit into em.

Clothing used to be designed to fit most everyone but it seems the cuts have gone down to just model proportions, as if we all should fit someone elses ideal. This is also hell on self-esteem.

If I were wealthy, I would have my clothes custom made.

well speaking for myslef being a tiny person has problems and the self esteem goes in the toilet everytime. I actually don't watch tv anymore (except cartoons with the kids) its time to relize we are all different and there is a wider range out there than the designers and media portrays.. bathings suits... ha my number one vice too but I won't get into that one!!
