lack of energy

well i went to the gym today and had hardly any energy which is strange considering i wasnt at school today due to suspension and i got more sleep and stuff. ive never been out of it like that and i hardly got a workout cause i like to have total body workouts every time. i only was able to work out my abs, arms, and i did a little HIIT. i could have worked out those areas even harder though normally. what can i do to prevent this. would anyone recommend an energy drink like red bull and if so when should i drink it.

i ate some saus. and biscuits and stuff like that in the morn and i went to sleep until about 12:30 pm then ate a lean pocket. then i went to the gym about sumwhere from 3 to 3:30.

i dont know if that lean pocket is good or not but usually i dont get to eat any thing else besides breakfast and i always go to the gym at that same time.

well, lean pockets would probably be a pretty balanced thing to eat. but there are better energy sources, like cream of wheat. complex carbs.

i definatly reccomend you to stay away from redbull etc... mainly because after a while you will become dependant on them, i agree with corple, complex carbs are your best & healthiest bet!

There are also days when your energy is low regardless of what you eat or do. Too much sleep can cause sluggishness also. I have 2 or 3 days like that a month. Normally, If I work through it, I can raise my energy level during the workout.

I have a feeling it might be due to the drastic change in your routine. You're body was probably used to going to bed at XO'clock and waking up at YO'clock; but you probably slept in, took a nap and never really got moving until you hit the gym.

I took a couple months off from work this summer; to go down the shore, relax and do nothing. I would sleep until 1000; watch TV, sit outside, hit the gym etc. I often took naps. I was just sleeping too much and never really got moving in a high energy environment...
