Ciao a tutti!
My name is Laura, and this year I am spending a year abroad in Italy as an exchange student.
I have always been skinny, but coming to Italy, the land of food!, I put on about 20 lbs in 5 months. The weight doesnt sit on my frame well and I am really embarrassed about it. I am hoping to lose the 20 lbs that have jumped on to regain my normal weight and feel comfortable in my own skin again.
The main reason for making this journal is all about accountability. I have a problem with it. If its only me that I have to report to, I won't do anything.
I am hoping to lose this 20 lbs in the exact same amount of time it took to put it on, 5 months.
Excercising has never been my probelm. I love being active and I already swim 5 times a week fr 2 hours each time. I have become a binge eater, big time. I can't say that its only one type of binge eating, like stress related or for a reward, its just plain eating. mY real weakness is night time eating. Im a major after dinner snacker.
I've found that the saying "you are what you're friends eat" to be completely true...but now I'll change it a bit. "You are what your host family eats". I live with two teenage boys who could eat for days and wouldn't gain a pound and around them, I just keep eating too.
My goals are to stop having binge days and to eat food for its enjoyment, not because I feel I need to stuff my face. And really to just feel better about myself.
I hope to post what I did and ate every day, as well as what I'm feeling. ACCOUNTABILITY! Let the journet begin tomorrow!
 
Almost the finish of day one...

Exercise: 2hrs swim
Food:
1 plate pasta with broccoli
small salad
1 piece of cheese
apple, clementine
5 mini cookies

Im not to happy that I ate those 5 cookies but hey you can't break all bad habits in one day right? Now for the evening I'm off to a party. Ate a late lunch so that i wouldnt be tempted with party treats...i hope i can make it through without doing too much damage
 
so I made it through the party last night with only eating about 8 bite sized appetizers. I had a pb sandwich before going, so Im pretty happy with that. Not a great first day, but its a start

Today I swam again for 2 hrs
Food:
B: 1 small piece of toast, 1/2 bowl cereal with soy milk
L: 1/2 plate pasta, 1 piece melon with prosciutto, 1/2 piece bread
d: 1 small piece fish, beets
Fruit: apple, pear, banana, tons of dried fruit from a mix (waayy to much, trying to wean myself off of it and replace it with fresh fruit)

Overall pretty happy minus eating about 0,5 kg of dried fruit i was just starving after dinner. Should have gone for something with a higher water content. next time ill try to reach for an apple instead
end of day two!
 
whoops forgot to post yesterday so Ill just write what i did before i go down to breakfast...i hope i can remember everything

B--2 small pieces toast with homemade jam
L--1/2 plate pasta with prosciutto, salad, 3 bites bread
S--a couple of spoonfulls of peanutbutter, 4 mini chocolate squares
D-- cooked carrots, 2 quarter size slices of chocolate salame
Fruit--3 apples, kiwi, clementine

i feel like im eating too much junk still, yesterday especially. I however did not eat crazy portion sizes which Im happy about. I feel like Im getting larger though and it doesnt make any sense to me.
