Hi, I am new to the site and looking for some diet/exercise/nutrition support and encouragement. I am 21 years old, about 5'3" and weigh 155 pounds. I would be happy again at 135 pounds which means I'll need to lose around 20 pounds. I keep setting myself timeframes but I find that I only get discouraged if I don't make it - when truely my health is what is most important to me so I don't want to quit just because I don't see weight loss. But if I had to say, I would like to lose at least 15 of it in the next 3 months - not too much to ask right?!? I try to eat right every day but I get so many contradicting arguments from people as to what the RIGHT way to eat is. On a normal day I will have a cup of coffee in the morning, 1 packet of oatmeal around 10:30, a sandwich around 12:30 and some fruit in the afternoon. Ideally dinner before 7:00 or so is great - but I tend to be a little more leniant on myself at dinner time. I just don't stuff myself. Either way I have a 2 year old, work full time, and take 3 classes at the college so I don't have much time to work out. Since about Wednesday of the week before last - March 14th - I have been hitting the gym at lunchtime, around 11:30 and do 20 mins of cardio on the Elliptical. I have been doing anywhere between 1 1/2 miles to 2 miles at level 3 or 4 so far. I am trying to work myself up. Sooo... here is my entry for today...

8:00 am - 20 oz cup of Wawa coffee with Low Fat French Vanilla.
10:30 am - 1 packet Weight Control Oatmeal.
11:30 am - 20 minutes on Elliptical at level 4. 2 1/2 bottles of water.
12:45 am - Wendy's Taco Salad with Chilli - ate the whole salad, only about half the chilli.
It is now 3:30, I haven't eaten since lunch but I will probably have a small applesauce before I leave here at 4:00. Dinner will probably be leftover Spaghetti.
I weighed myself today at the gym and got 155 on the dot. I don't know if I will weigh myself every day since on the weekends I don't go to the gym... but I will record when I do.
So what do you think??? Not strict enough on myself? Something I could do to improve? I sure hope this weight starts coming off. I'd love to feel comfortable on the beach this year!!!!

Hey girl! I know what you mean about dinner...it can KILL me, but I just learned to control myself and only eat one serving of whatever my mom makes. I was at around 150 in January and now I am at 133 and I am 5'4", so I was going through about the same thing you will be. It can be hard, but really you just have to stay strong and not let yourself get off track! I'll be back around here to follow your diary because I know you can do it, and I really am excited for you!

I know what you mean about the beach thing! What a treat that would be! I just got my belly button pierced as my treat!
 
Hey Kristi..whoa that's hard I kept typing my name!! :) Thank you so much for your support, I will look forward to your comments and advice on my diary. It really helps to have people to cheer you on (and cheer you up at times). And btw.. how often did you weigh yourself throughout the process? Weighing myself yesterday completely ruined my day because I realized it had been a week and a half and not a pound off! I have my belly button pierced too, lol, but it doesn't do anything for the black hole that's behind it!!! My belly and butt seem to suck up all the pounds :eek:
Soo last night... I didn't end up eating before I left work, in fact I didn't eat until about 7:00 or so and I had a half (if that) of a Panera sandwich with turkey, cheese, and tomato, and a bowl of turkey chilli. And of course water. Later on I snacked on some dried blueberries.
Now.. it's 7:30am, I am having my 8 ounce cup of coffee with sugar free hot chocolate (because the creamer here is gross) and around 10:30 I will have my 1 pack of Weight Control Oatmeal.
I'll check back in this afternoon and let ya know how the gym and lunch went. Am I right that it's better to eat lunch within the hour after you work out?? Sure hope so cuz that's what I've been doing!!! Alrighty then... Be back later :) Krista
 
Hey! Thanks for the welcome daiseeangel, and good afternoon :)
Okay so after I left the site this morning I skipped out on the oatmeal because wawa coffee was sounding way too good! So I had a 16 ounce coffee with low-fat french vanilla cappachino to top it off :eek: So basically I had coffee for breakfast :rolleyes: But on the way to the gym at 11:30 I grabbed a banana so that I wouldn't pass out on the Elliptical. But my workout felt GREAT.. I went just about 2 miles in 20 minutes at level 4 and got a fairly good sweat out of it. I think I'll bump up to level 5 tomorrow. I figure since I don't have anymore time to spare for my break, I'll just make it a more intense 20 minutes. OH YEAH, and I weighed myself.. 153.5 :D That's a 1.5 lb difference from yesterday.. I hope that stays consistant! After my workout I stopped at wawa and got a turkey sandwich on wheat with provolone cheese, a little mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, and onion. I ate half around 12:45 and I'll eat the other half around 3:00 I reckon. Not the best but I didn't pack my lunch!!! Not doing so well on the water today... I've only had about 8 oz. WELL I guess farewell for now... I'm sure I'll check back in later. See y'all.

TGIF! Yay and it's going to be a nice day :) So yesterday I had the other half of my sandwich at 3:00 and left work at 4:00. Then I went out to help my step-dad with his fast pitch team.. it was a good time. Softball is a major passion of mine. Speaking of which.. I'll need to check and see if there is practice on Sunday for us :D Anyway after helping with practice I stopped at wawa, yes again :eek: for more coffee; it was a 20 oz but I didn't even drink half because of it was watery :eek: Then of course I was in class until 8:40 which makes it hard to eat right for dinner because class starts at 5:30.. if I eat before hand then I'm hungry afterward (BTW this is only on Tuesdays and Thursdays). So I have been not eating and then grabbing something when I get home. Last night Aric came home with a local restaurant pizza and it smelled good so I had 2 *small* pieces. Didn't fill me up so that was good. Anyway, this morning I've had one 8 oz cup of coffee with no-sugar chocolate powder. But I am hungry so I guess I'll eat my oatmeal soon. I'll check back in after lunch!! :cool:
 
Alright well today's workout didn't give me the normal boost.. AND for some reason today looking at myself in the mirror wasn't as encouraging. I just feel fat, I saw all the cellulite and was like BLEH! I know I just need to make it day by day but sometimes I just get discouraged thinking about how long it will take to get rid of that stubborn belly and leg fat :rolleyes: I was thinking while I was there that maybe taking 2 days of cardio out and adding weight training might help... I don't know. I have been thinking about doing Pilates at home too. I don't work out on the weekends so that is something that could make Mondays a little easier and maybe firm my core up a little more. I ate my oatmeal at around 11:15, went to the gym around 12:30 and did 20 minutes on the Elliptical at level 5. I think I did 1.45 miles or so? I just had lunch; a turkey sandwich from wawa. Wheat bread, turkey, provolone cheese, a little mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato and onion. I actually ate half.. the other half I'll eat around 4:00 when I leave work along with a cheese stick. I worry about myself on the weekends, I am definitely not as strict on myself and I like to drink beer too which is BAD for losing weight!!! But I am trying...If I am right back up to 155 on Monday I will be so upset!!!
 
Well, I'm glad I'm young and don't have that beer problem...yet, at least!

I weigh myself like 2 times a day. It's an addiction, I sware. I know what you mean about the 0 progress thing. It sucks when you don't see the results you were hoping for, but you just have to gut it out. I gained 3 pounds in 2 days a couple of weeks ago, and it made me put my butt in gear. I worked extra hard after that, so the gain kind of helped me in a way.

Also, my motivation currently is watching the show Coyote Ugly on CMT. What a loser I am, but those girls have nice bodies, and it makes me want to have that good of a body too! I want guys to drool over my butt if I were to get on a bartop! haha...stay strong!!! You'll feel so good once you start seeing results.
 
Good Morning and Happy Monday :) I had a pretty good weekend other than the fact that I didn't do so well on the calories.. I had a toasted bagel with jelly on Saturday and Sunday morning. For lunch Saturday I had the end of a sub left over from a friend but then royally screwed up with Ribs (but WOW were they good) and beer (which was very good too ;) ) for dinner. Yesterday morning I caved and went to starbucks for an iced coffee but only had a cereal bar for lunch. I basically starved all afternoon waiting for dinner which I ate around 7:30 - Chinese; shrimp fried rice, chicken and broccoli, and an egg roll :eek: So needless to say I can't get mad at myself if the scale says 155 today! I need to work extra hard this week if I want to continue to make progress! It's 8:30am and I haven't put a thing in my body. When I get up I'll grab some coffee and a water and have my oatmeal around 10:00. See ya after lunch...
 
Can you beleive I forgot to weigh myself today?!? LOL! So I dunno how the weekend treated me, but I'll definitely weigh myself tomorrow. I don't have much time but just wanted to check back in... all I've had today is a cup of coffee, a banana, water, and a can of 99% fat free progresso chicken noodle soup. Just not that hungry, and I've had a headache all day so that didn't help. Anyway! Hope everyone has a good night... be back tomorrow - unless I play hookie ;) I have a big Statistics exam tomorrow so... We shall see :p

Good morning! And I feel really good today :) I got some good sleep and it's beautiful outside! I didn't have any time to make dinner last night and had an exam to study for so we had macaroni and cheese and chicken nuggets. Oh and shhh, I had some of my son's yoohoo and it was GOOD! Hopefully after Easter I can meet with a trainer and get on a better workout plan. I know that the Elliptical trainer is good.. but is 20 minutes a day going to get me the results I want??? Which by the way I forgot to mention yesterday I did 20 minutes at level 4 and made it passed the 2 mile mark!! I was so proud! So far this morning I have had a cup of coffee at work, it's about 9:30. Hopefully soon I will get to throw my bagel in the toaster!!! See ya after lunch :p

YAY! The gym was good to me today :D Not only did the scale tell me I lost 2 pounds, I did 2.15 miles in 20 minutes - beat my own record!
I had a half a bagel around 10:30 or so with peanut butter on it, a banana right before the gym at 12:15, and now it's about 2:00 and I'm eating oatmeal. No clue what's for dinner tonight. Hopefully I can grab a salad between classes. STATS EXAM at 7:15 :eek: Wish me luck!!!
 
Dinner last night ended up being a cup of wawa coffee... Well that's what held me over til I got home at like 8:45 and then I ate a bowl of macaroni and cheese. Hopefully soon I will have more time to make healthy dinners :eek: This morning so far it's been a bottle of water and half a bagel with peanut butter. I forced myself to eat before 8:00 am even though it didn't go down easy! Trying to boost my metabolism. I also started a new supplement today... It was recommended to me by the owner of the gym I go to. It's called "Tri-Methy-LEAN". I'll post about it on another board to see if anyone has tried it/heard of it. She actually told me that when she started taking it she dropped 10lbs without changing her regimine (sp?). Anyway.. we'll see how it goes. Be back later!
 
Can someone help me find my way around this website? I am having a really hard time just finding the different forum topics to read...:confused:
I canNOT beleive this! I lost .5 lbs between yesterday and today so now I am 151!!! I've never lost weight this fast before, and I'm not changing a THING for now. I did 20 mins today like always, but it seemed a lot harder today for some reason, it was a different machine though so maybe that was it? I rushed back to work though because I also had to make a stop at Target (my other weakness) and I forgot to pick up something to eat. The only thing here was leftover pizza from a meeting we had, so I had a piece. And it really wasn't even that good. BLAH. But oh well, at least there is something in my stomach I guess. Anyway... That's all. I'll try rooting around the site again to see if I can figure it out! :rolleyes: :)
 
Good Afternoon! What a busy morning!?! Got to work at 7:00, left at 9:00, went to get Alex to take him to his 10:00 appointment, left there took him back to daycare, went to the gym worked out - stayed at 151 even after 2 beers and chicken wings last night! - Stopped at Penara for half and sandwich, half a salad and an apple, got back to work shoved my food in, and now I can relax!!! :p Oh, all I had this morning before panera was a 20 oz. coffee from Wawa. I know, it's so bad, it's an addiction! Anyway that food should hold me over for a few hours. It's class night so it's one of those tweeners where I squeeze food in between classes. Did I mention before that my wedding is in 9 days!?! I don't think I did... but yeah, Aric and I got married in the courthouse just over two years ago and we are having a wedding on the 14th!!! I don't anticipate losing another 5 pounds by then but wouldn't it be nice to see 145 again before that! :rolleyes: Ahh.. anyway.. I'm getting back to work.. or starting it anyway :p TTYL.
 
Yay for Friday! Oughta be a good weekend other than the cold weather. Hopefully it warms up by next weekend for the wedding - which is supposed to be outside! ANYWAY, last night between classes I had a half of a turkey wrap from Arby's. And you know what I found out?!?!?!?! The freakin Arby's market fresh sandwiches are almost twice the amount of calories as the roast beef sandwiches!!!! :eek: I eat those all the time because the "seem" so much healthier!!!
This morning I had half a bagel with jelly and a water. Feel pretty good today so far :)

its good in a way that you spotted that on the sandwiches that you thought were healthier .. maybe it will make you look at labels more carefully in future. keep up the weight loss xx
 
Sophie, thanks for the encouragement, and I'm glad to know someone is reading these.. Like I said on another post, I feel kinda like I'm talking to myself sometimes :p So it's nice to get some feedback. This Trimethy-lean I've been taking is really suppressing my hunger.. I went to the gym after just the two bagel halves I had this morning and was fine. So afterward I stopped at Wawa and got some coffee and a banana and I feel comfortable. Still at 151 on the scale but not disappointed yet ;) WELL hope everyone has an excellend EASTER holiday!! Have a good weekend...:D
 
wow, you stay busy....and i think you are doing great staying on track but keeping it real by not beating yourself up when you have some ribs or something. Im sure you know that more breakfast is going to help, it seems like you are trying to improve that. maybe a hard boiled egg, something with protein to start you off right? I am new to this site...maybe two weeks...also 152 ish. started at 155. my goal is anything in the 130's for now. I have three kids and know how hard it is to concentrate on yourself. your doing great and I find your diary motivating!!
 
And it's Monday again already. I definitely needed a second Sunday this weekend; but the holiday was enjoyable. I don't think I'll talk about food this morning though :rolleyes: Let's just say I probably doubled my caloric intake over the entire weekend. A little chocolate here, ham there, mashed potatos, macaroni, beer... But man it was good! Back to reality this morning :eek: It's 8:00 and I am starving. I have a bagel to eat when I have the chance to get up from my desk.

Rachael, It looks like we are working toward similar goals, do you have a diary too? I will look around but this forum confuses me a bit :eek: I do stay extremely busy.. I really wish I had more time to fix healthier meals and spend more time at the gym. I think that's why I don't beat myself up as much though. Maybe if I spent 2 hours a day at the gym and didn't see results I might be a little more discouraged. I hope to hear from you some more! How is your progress coming along???
