Know any good tricep exercises

so i want to get my arms big and i read somewhere that your triceps are 2/3 of your arm or something so i figure if i get them big my arms will get bigger. So if you know any good tricep exercises that you can doat home put em up. Only put ones up that you can do at home or with a 5kg weight or 3.5 kg weights cause thats all i have at home. thanx:D

skull crushers, tricep kickbacks, french curl

god no on the kickbacks. they are a craptastic move that is more likely to hurt your elbow joint than build big triceps.

even the women at my gym don't do kickbacks.

and it's french press...not curl. curling implies biceps or hamstrings.

skull crushers, close grip bench press, and a cable pressdown for the final pump if you need it.

remember triceps work hard on chest presses too. don't over train them.

Except he is asking for "at home." I doubt he has a pushdown or cables, or a rope at home, but if you do, well that would just kick a.....

Dips can be done on chair, extensions, close grip bench, anyway, people already said those I think

reverse pushups or dips behind the back, are when you put your legs up on a bench,chair... and then rest hands on a chair/bench behind your back and basically perform dips,(sorry if thats a bad explanation, maybe just stick with dips), anyways diamond pushups are like regular pushups except your hands are underneath your chest and your thumbs and fingers touch to form a diamond shape, they work your tri's kinda like a close grip bench press would, hope this helps.

You only have 5kg weights you say. Well I know that you have more weight than that. YOU.

close grip push ups and dips are the best way to build triceps if you dont have weights. But your be better off with a full body workout rather than just the arms.

check out the bodybuilding FAQ sticky thread for info on diff types of push up.

Allow me to retort...

Kickbacks have been questioned in the past for potential injury... As have: squats, deadlifts, good mornings, situps, and even bench press (I am sure there are more, these are only the few I know of). But, has this stopped us from doing them? Nay. Kickbacks have worked fine for me for more than 19 years. No elbow injuries yet. And, There are plenty of body builders and fitness trainers worldwide who suggest using them, including Ahnold (the authority). I have friends and associates from several different college football teams (including your beloved cornhuskers ) and a couple from the redskins that all use tricep kickbacks.

The key to avoiding injury during this exercise (as is the key in many movements) is to do a slow controlled motion with a weight that you will not "cheat" with. Many folks prefer not to lock off the elbow, but this is purely preference-based.

What do you mean: "Even the women at my gym blah, blah, blah?" Mighty sexist dude. Jennifer Thompson does them. And, I would venture to say that pound for pound she would whip up on you and the rest of us guys in the bench press (she did a 315 lb. bench when she weighed a mere 132 lbs.) Cory Everson also recommends kickbacks in her arm routines. I guess the girls at your gym know more than these mortals.

(-:

As far as french press vs. curl, you say tomato, I say tomato (hmmm... looks the same). I do not know what a french press is, but I can tell you that there are countless publications covering the french curl (and it ain't that curl bar with the upright handles for biceps). The french curl is a tricep exercise that is performed by lying on your back with a barbell or dumbbells above you. From there, you "curl" your arms slowly (utilizing the tricep) and allowing them to near your head or go just above it. Then you use the tricep to straighten your bent arms.

I suppose things are different in Nebraska, and that is a-okay with me. But, I only wanted to respond to your uncalled for thrashing.

Peace bro,
Rip
