Kimbo Slice

Not me, what happened?

Kimbo's a beastttttt

I watched it as well. All over the Internet they are saying it was fixed! I don't know about that but what a disappointment.

I really don't see the point of fixing THAT fight. I think Kimbo can become very good if he had the time under training. His limiting factor will be his age. There are very few Randy Couture's out there that can keep up that type of athletic competition into older age.

That fight exposed his major weaknesses. If he's smart and his trainer is smart, they'll start really pounding in the ground game and work on conditioning so he doesn't 'gas' out.

I am a big fan of Kimbo Slice and saw his fight against Thompson.

That man is a BEAST! Did you see what he did to Thompson's ear? And LOL at Thompson slapping the ref, that was funny.

Kimbo has come a long way since the day of his internet fights, he's showing improved skill in grappling and fighting on the ground, but it is still one of his biggest weaknesses.

One other thing I noticed is that his conditioning isn't so great, I guess its because he's always been KO'ing people in the first round or two, he never bothered training for the long haul.

Kimbo is a clubber lang, once he learns how to defend himself on the ground he will be unstoppable.

And no, it was not fixed. Anyone could see Thompson was done for. Kimbo was intentionally aiming at his left ear, and a couple more haymakers to that side of the ear and he could have received some permanent damage.

Unstoppable? Hardly. Didn't anyone see the Kimbo v. Gannon fight? Pwnd, and Gannon wasn't even allowed to take him to the ground, kick, elbow, knee or any other true MMA moves. He's big, he's powerful, but most of all (like evo said) he's OLD!

That Gannon fight was a long ass time ago when Kimbo was still fighting against fat and old people on the internet, before he started taking up MMA training including Muy thai and Ju-Jitsu. Gannon was using a lot of knee in that video
And he isn't that old, he still has plenty in him.

3-0 baby.

If Thompson hadnt been out of gas after 4 minutes he would've won. Plus those uncontested elbows, if he had had energy to do damage the fight would've been stopped.

Neither one really impressed me with the ground game. Thompson missed many passes and opportunities.

The fight should have been stopped in the 2nd round and Thompson should have been the winner. Kimbo was in a crusifix and couldn't get out and was taking some crazy elbows and could not defend himself. That ref is dumb and is probably going to be fired.

I disagree. The ref shouldn't have brought them to their feet. Kimbo was still very coherent; it would have been different if he had gone limp and unable to defend himself.

I enjoy seeing Kimbo fight, however he has a long way to go to ever be a factor in his weight class...imo. Hype doesn't make a fighter, skills do.

It was a good fight, but it revealed that kimbo has alot to work on.

Jeff Monson called out Kimbo. Since Kimbos Career started out on Youtube he made a small video.

"I figured the best way to get ahold of him was to put it on Youtube since I know the *****er doesn't read"

Then he goes and rips up an issue of ESPN the Magazine which features Kimbo.

Monson by submission within a minute of the first round.

Age won't be as a big a factor as you're making it out to be. The reason why Randy was/is able to compete in his mid 40's is because he started so late compared to say Matt Hughes (who is past his prime at age 34) who started a lot earlier age in the game than Randy.

I've seen very few of Kimbos internet fights but none of them went to the ground and it was all stand up, so how can you say his ground game and grappling has improved? Especially when he was taken down, with ease and completely dominated on the ground by James f ucking Thompson! That's just as bad as being outstruck by Matt Lindland. It's a huge weakness and one he needs to work on a lot.

One other thing I noticed is that his conditioning isn't so great, I guess its because he's always been KO'ing people in the first round or two, he never bothered training for the long haul.

I have to say i was kinda surprised by this and would have thought that training with Bas, he'd be well prepared for three rounds. I guess that's another thing he needs to work on.

Easier said than done. He doesn't even have a proper wrestling or JJ coach...No disrespect to Bas but if Kimbo wants to advance to the next level he needs better coaches in charge of his grappling.

That's the thing though, you can't sit there and say "so and so lost because he was gassed after 30 seconds"...He should have been better prepared. I agree, both of them have horrible ground games but Thompson has never been known to have a great ground game and he tooled Kimbo so give him some credit.

Monson is just out to make a name for himself in a match where he know he'd win and i don't blame him. It's has to frustrating when an internet street fighter with a 3-0 record (fighting cans) is more popular than you, being an already accomplished fighter. It would be idiotic of EXC to put a match together where they know that Kimbo would be made a fool of. I agree - Monson by sub with in the first minute.

Anyone know when the next Kimbo fight is?

October...vs Brett Rogers.

Bret Rogers will be a good test for Kimbo. He's a big dude a 6'5 265, 7-0, 6ko's 1 submission win. He will stand in there and bang with Kimbo, but he has a tad bit more experience then Kimbo. I think it could be a crazy fight.

And I am a fan of Kimbo...I just think he is over hyped. If he could work on his ground game and some conditioning, he has the potential to be a BEAST.

And in terms of age, hes old in numbers, but being new to MMA he's fairly young. Same with Randy, who I think will be fighting again. I bet he would be fighting into his 50's if he could find a good orginization where he could be happy.

One thing I have noticed above all (or most) fighters is his aggressiveness...he piratically races to his opponent each time the round starts and it's as if he just doesn't care how ****ing hard he gets hit...it doesn't seem fade him mentally or physically...or so it seems.

He is bad ass.

In that case, you need to see some Wanderlei Silva or Shogun fights...

Please don't tell me Silva and Kimbo have fought together in the past?

Eric

ummmm, which Silva? Thiago Silva, Wanderlei Silva, Assueiro Silva, Giant Silva, Anderson Silva (i could go on)...Silva in Brazil is like Smith in Western cultures, so try and be more specific....Having said that though, Kimbo has never fought a Silva, so the answer is no.
