Kickboxing my way back into shape!

Hi everyone!

I was on this site like a year ago and starting going to the gym every morning and running - also eating right! Well, that lasted about 4 months before it came to an abrupt halt. Even after the 4 months I didn't really notice a change in my weight, which was kind of discouraging. I sort of fluctuated between 127-122 pounds the entire time (I'm 5'1 and 26 years old).

So, this year I jumped on the scale and it said 134 - which is the heaviest I've ever been. I'm not horrifically overweight, but I didn't want to let it keep going until I was! My husband and I love to eat bad things (think Taco Bell) and love going out to eat. So, I made a comment to my husband that I weighed 134 and it's the most I've ever weighed and how uncomfortable I was. He could use to shed a few pounds too (he's 5'8/5'9 and weighs around 187), and he suggested cardio kickboxing as something we can do together to get back in shape.

We went to our first class a month ago, and I was hooked. It was fun, exhausting, and an amazing workout. The next day it hurt to laugh, i could barely pick up my arms enough to wash my hair, and I was sore EVERYWHERE else! Since then, we signed up for the class and I have been going 6x a week. I find that because I go to kickboxing so often and it's exhausting that I don't want to eat the bad things as much. I always keep melon in the house and fruit is my new snack of choice. I'm vegetarian and have been drinking protein shakes and bars as well.

I haven't weighed myself since I started this a month ago (I don't plan on weighing myself for another month) but my clothes are fitting better, I think. My goal is to lose 15 pounds - I'm not sure if I can do it, but I'm sure going to try!

My husband and I want to try for kids before I'm 30, so I'm eager to get into shape before we try!

To start off the journal -

Tonight I've got kickboxing from 7-8.

Food plan today looks like this:

Breakfast:
Banana
Navel Orange
Myoplex light bar

Snack:
Peach

Lunch:
Sandwich with 2 slices of 100% whole wheat bread, 2 pcs veggie bologna and 1 veggie cheese slice
Fruit Salad of watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew
1 serving asian rice crackers
1 serving dry roasted edamame (wasabi flavor, mmmm)

Snack:
Apple
1 serving asian rice crackers
1 serving dry roasted edamame

Dinner:
watermelon, cantaloupe and honey dew
Worldwide Pure Protein Shake

Can't wait for kickboxing tonight!

Last night's kickboxing class was pretty good, although I really need to figure out how I'm punching wrong....my fingers hurt when I start punching the bag and they're not supposed to. I tried wrapping my hands last night for the first time and noticed a slight difference, but not a huge one.

I'm wondering if 6x a week is too much for my body. I feel OK, but a little creaky now and then in my joints - the last thing I want to do is get hurt and then be out of commission!

Today I'm expecting an order of asian rice crackers and goji energy squares from nutsonline. I'm really looking forward to the energy squares! I've never had them before.

Today I've got kickboxing during my lunch hour (I usually get in about 40 minutes of the class).

This morning's breakfast was:

Peach
Banana
Myoplex Cinnamon bun bar
Huge glass of water

Lunch will be:
Worldwide Protein shake
fruit salad of honeydew, watermelon and cantaloupe
Dry roasted edamame

Snack:
Apple with veggie cheese slice
asian rice crackers

Not sure what I'm going to do for dinner yet. Contemplating some sashimi, mmm!
