Kez tries again!!!

Hee hee Oh look I'm back on and it's not 10pm yet. Naughty me!

Well I have done about 4 hours of revision so far today. Not terrible, but considering that it is only 9 days before my first exam, not really good enough lol :)

What can we do but try harder tomorrow. And I'll probably do another hour after coming off here, and before going to bed.

Well, its been an OK day. As mentioned this morning, I did my run. I am STILL achey from yesterday though. I am so impatient to begin this fitness thing in earnest I am really annoyed that my muscles can't cope with what I want them to do grrr  :p  :p

Anyway...

Journal for today, 04/04

Breakfast

Shredded wheat, prunes and milk 260
Coffee 7

Snack

Strawberries and yogurt 140

Lunch

Moussaka with garlic bread and salad 826
Coffee 7

Dinner

Ham sarnie and salad 250

Total cals in = 1490

Exercise

Week 1 day 1 couch to 5k: Walk to warm up, then 1 min jog followed by 1.5 mins walk x8 reps. Minus approx 140cals

Walk 1 hour -236

Total calories burned today = 2376

Calorie deficit = 1490-2376 = -886

Verdict

The numbers are good and I'm pleased with the deficit and that I did couch to 5k day 1 successfully!

My only probs with today are the muscle acheyness, the lack of revision (so my own fault!) and the moussaka! I still came in under my intended calories which is great, but I'm still annoyed with myself, I usually manage to make really healthy choices when eating out! Not I'm kinda imagining this oily grease floating around in my blood-yuk! (for the record I know that's not actually how it works!)

Hmmm, I'm not sure about goals for tommorow. I'm thinking about going for a little swim in the morning, as that will probably be nice and easy for my muscles to cope with. BUT lets bear in mind here that I can't really swim! (For full story find my old diary thats floating around somewhere!) so it could prove to actually be difficult. Maybe I'll walk instead. What do people think?

Hey! I noticed we have similar weight loss goals, and you are WAY ahead of me ;) Great job!! My ticker says I want to go down 10, but I'm trying for 20, just making smaller goals :). Looks like your exercise is going well too!

What is this couch to 5k thing? and where do I find out more?

Kez, you just can't pick perfect foods all the time. Sometimes cheats creep in there. No big deal. You still came out way ahead for the day.

I agree. Also, you live and learn. You now know this stuff you had at the pub wasn't even really worth it so next time you'll either get something that is or you'll get something that's healthy. Either way, you learned. :)

Good look with the summer challange Kezzy, here's hoping you are as hot as the sun once it's over. Cheers!

Gee you are really zipping along with your exercise and following your plans and everything. Those moussaka type things just happen - I figure they keep our bodies guessing and not getting too uppity hanging on to weight when they shouldn't. (Hope so anyway - cause they happen to me!!)

Sore muscles - you will get more from a new program and it doesn't have to mean anything was wrong. A good warm up and especially a good cool down will help another time. Doing it again will help. :) A couple more days and the soreness will disappear into tightness - which is a very nice feeling. Still I hear you that sometimes that temporary soreness is just a bit over the top and seems to be dragging you the wrong way.

Swimming without swimming. How about walking in the water? Walk forward, walk backward, jog, jump, etc. It can still give you a great work out but is more gentle than walking on land. I found with some pools I need to wear old sneakers or something to protect my feet from the rough surface of the pool though.

Oooh it's so nice to see lots of posts in my diary, thanks everyone!

Hi Nicole! Hmm maybe but your BMI is better than mine! :p

Check out

This is the program I'm following, well, I only started yesterday, but I have high hopes for it! Doing the second session tommorow.

Thanks Tom and Kaika, you speak wise words!

As hot as the sun, lol! :D That's what I'll aim for, people will have to wear sunglasses when they look at me or they're eyes will burn!! (sorry, I'm in a funny mood, too much caffiene today I think!)

I am already more tight than sore actually, which is good coz its day 2 of couch to 5k tommorow! I do a water aerobics class actually, pretty much what you described, and lots of fun! But I can't imagine wearing trainers in the swimming pool! :D

I just got back from a lovely long walk, the weather here is GORGEOUS!!!! I dreampt up a more interesting jogging route than just round the park 3 times.

This is my route, it's like, around the park, with some extra bits lol! 1.8 miles in total, and I walked two laps of it today.

It is SO gorgeous, the park is full of people sunbathing and playing football and having barbeques and picnics, and there's not much traffic about and its a lovely route, with wide, empty, fairly flat roads, and all the flowers are out and the birds are singing!

:)

I am looking forward to attempting to jog some of it tomorrow! :p

Pleased with the exercise, back to the hard stuff tomorrow! Food was good, my calories are a bit on the low side, but I haven't really felt hungry enough to eat more, and anyway, I'm getting impatient to see a drop on the scales by Monday! I haven't seen a drop yet and I really would like to!

Oh yes, I also managed a really good long day of revision today: over 8 hours, and 60 sides of notes made phew! No wonder my hand aches!

I SO want to ace these exams!! :p

Hey!
Good luck on the exams!! And thanks for the site, I'll check it out!

Finding a nice park for walking and running is key I've found. I never last long if I'm just walking around a subdivision or something.

:D

Hi again.

I just had a bit of a vent about some of my feelings and upsets about this 'journey' on the Summer Fitness challenge thread, but I figure its more appropriate to post it here, so I've just copied and pasted. It all applies to everyone who reads my diary as well as that thread of course! In fact I guess it applies more to you.

And thank you so much to everyone who is supporting me, and has from the beginning.

I actually have a favour to ask. I tend to be quite bad with yo-yo dieting. And when I say bad I mean I have tried COUNTLESS times to loose weight and never succeeded. I am trying so hard to reform myself and my mindset towards things. I am feeling v motivated right know, you see, but I'm actually scared if I think about, what if its a struggle next wekk, you know?

I CAN'T AFFORD TO KEEP DOING THIS.

I CAN'T BE A YO-YO DIETER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!

I have to make healthy and sustainable changes to my life, which is what I've been trying (on and off, I hate to confess) for 6 months now.

But here's the point of this post: I NEED HELP!!!!!!

If any of you notice I haven't been around much or whatever, REALLY kick my arse! I mean, on the threads or PM me or email me or anything.

I'm serious! Whether you 'know' me or not, I don't care, gimme some tough love!!

And in return I'll support all of you as best I can (it doesn't have to be in the same way!)

I have lots of motivation for doing this, all the obvious ones inc health and vanity, but there are 2 extra ones at the mo: 1) I keep picturing these before and after photos. I want to be one of those people that others look and the photos and go "wow I can't believe she made that change!"

And secondly, I want to prove to everyone who thinks I'll be a yo yo dieter forever and never get to my goal of being fit, toned slim and strong, that they are wrong! This group of people includes my bf (I think, though he hasn't says it, he just sorta rolled his eyes when I said I was gonan start running, eg), all my housemates and family (to whom my attempts to get fit are sort of a long standing joke) and sometimes, I have to confess, I don't believe it myself!!

Anyway, sorry, this post has turned out to be more of a rant, or a word/feeling splurge than anything particularly relevant to the summer fitness challenge, but I hope you guys don't mind, and like I said, please help me if I start slacking!!! And please believe in me too, coz not many people do.

I'm now off to add something to my profile if I can, so that you CAN get in touch if I haven't been on for a while.

Hmmm...

Change of plan, if anyone is willing to do this, to promise to keep an eye on me and not let me get away with slacking, like an accountability buddy or something (I'm really serious about this) let me know and I'll pm my address.

Hey Kezzy!! Finally had time to read through your diary, wow your amazing and have struggled up and down like so many of us here. I'll try to stop by regularly and keep you motivated. It seems your working out and eating well, so I'm sure you will have no problem getting down to your goal weight. I think your pic's look sensational, your a very pretty girl. So what would you say your weakness are?? Is it slacking on the workouts, or slacking on the food??Or both?? I went a whole year working out 3 days a week at the gym and didn't lose anything, talk about pissed. Well, I didn't give up and I found this great website, and WELLA I'm now losing weight, finally. I know your do well, just keep it up and come on here and write if you ever feel like your going to go off the deep end, I'll be here waiting. ;)

Hey Kez,

You seem to of had a great day today with your food and exercise, hope the jog goes well tomora.

I am gonna hold you to the fact you want badgering if you disapear!! I understand yoyoing oh so well, n although i have a long long way to go before i get to my goal im so scared that i will make it, n then put all this excess weight back on, but its like, my motivation is never as strong for a prolonged period of time as the urge to eat badly n be lazy become??! Makes no sense, but finding having this place a real help, its like, Oh i cant eat that cos i'll have to write it in my diary lol!! Really hope you can stay on track, n give me a shout if you wanna swap email ids,

Bedtime now,

Kate x

Hey, as long as you keep updating your diary, you'll have a whole bunch of us keeping you accountable! :)

Thanks everyone!

I am feeling much better having slept on it, I was having one of those all-too-common low self esteem moments, you know the ones.

I AM scared of failing. AGAIN.

So, I have made a choice. I choose NOT to fail. I choose to be healthy. Forever.

Wow that felt empowering!

I CHOOSE TO SUCCEED IN BECOMING A HEALTHY FIT PERSON!!!!!!!

It's happened to me too!!! To everyone probably.

One of the best things about keeping a diary is looking back over it. I mean, I've done really well this week! I posted a summary of the week in the other thread, I think I'll go copy-and paste it into here, so it's easier for me to see how well I'm doing lol!
