Hey!
Just done some diary rounds... there are so many new people here since I was last posting! Great to see
Do you all like my cocktail kitten av? Lol!
So, the reason for this particular post is that I have decided I really want to start jogging. Several reasons:
1) Obviously, it is one of the highest calorie burners!
2) TONING!!!
3) I used jog (not properly, more like, a slow 1 mile jog/walk) when was younger, and I did enjoy it. I got a sort of, therapeutic free feeling, that was great!
4) I am moving away from uni at the end of June, and I'd rather be able to go running than have to join a gym at that point. Partly coz its free, and also its much more convenient, as I live in the middle of gorgeous flat countryside, and there are so many lovely possible runs on my doorstep, literally, whereas getting into town to actually go to the gym is much more hassle!
So, my first goal is to be able to jog for 2 miles, WITHOUT STOPPING by the time I go home at the end of June.
I found a plan online that slowly builds you up from nothing (2mins walking, then 1 min jogging, repeat 10 times, is the first step) to running 2 miles non stop in 8 weeks, which is perfect! So, I'm planning to start that next week (Tuesday), on top of what I do at the mo.
Then when I get home, I'll keep it up and try to build up to running 3-4 miles without stopping by September, which is when I leave for my round the world trip!
I do, of course, have a couple of concerns. All involving potential pain, failure, embarrassement etc. So if anyone has recently taken up jogging and can reassure me that the gain outweighs the pain I would be most grateful!
On a final, self-pitying note, I am not happy today. I was going to get up early and do work out dvds, but I woke up at 5am in quite a lot of pain, I've got some sort of kidney infection going on
I can't even go to work today, (despite how badly I need the money) it's that bad. Althoguh I am managing at the moment, with lots of nurofen and a hot water bottle tied onto my back with my dressing gown cord!! So, strenous exercise is on hold til I am better (which had better be Tuesday, preferable even today or tomorrow lol!). Though I am not intending to use it as an excuse! I will still eat healthily, and go for gently walks, mayube do a bit of yoga etc.
Yes.
With this in mind, my goals for today are:
1) Walk 30 minutes
2) Yoga 30 minutes
3) 5 portions fruit and veg
4) Stick to 1600 cals (not particularly low, but I need to give my body energy to fight off the infection!) It may in fact be a challenge to get anywere near this, as I'm feeling kinda sick! I guess I'll just try to listen to my body.
I'll stick to this tomorrow as well if I'm not better. If Im not better by then I'll probably go to docs and get antibiotics anyway. I would normally have gone yesterday/today, if it wasn't the weekend!
Hopefully, hopfully I'll be OK to start the running plan on Tuesday.
Adios!
