Kero's Progress!

First post in a diary to keep myself motivated for this weight loss journey!

My name is jo, I'm a 24 year old female currently weighing in at 185lbs, wanting to get back down to my old 120! I have lost huge amounts of weight(~100lbs a couple years ago) in the past by sticking to a strict diet & exercise regimen.

The diet then is the same I'm using now, which is sort of related to the paleolithic, negative calorie & raw food diets in that I am basically only eating whole, unprocessed healthy foods. Meats, fruits and veggies high in fibre, yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, etc. Yes cottage cheese & yogurt are processed, I try to limit it where I can. Healthy and balanced is how this gets done!

As for exercise, I use Snap Fitness which is a great 24 hour gym. I go as often as I can, which is at least twice a week, more when I have the chance (twice a week is really not enough, I know).

I have been going to the gym the entire month of April, but only started the strict diet about 3 days ago, so we will see how things go - I am eating a lot of celery & cucumber before bed to keep my metabolism up while I'm sleeping, eating my proteins in the morning to keep me more satisfied all day, and pretty much only drinking ice water and the very rare sip of diet pop for the caffiene ( I suffer withdrawal as I used to be a heavy pop drinker).

I'm eating about a billion (6?) very small meals throughout the day, and probably downing about 6-10 cups of water. You'll notice carbs aren't really in there, except for in the bananas and watermelon I eat - no bread, or potatos, etc. Not that they are bad, and if I need that extra boost before the gym, I will certainly use them.

This diet comes to about 1200 per day, which for a female with an office job is maybe even high - But as there are only healthy sugars and fats in there it should still work fine.

Cheers! I hope to post some pics of myself along the way, if only I could figure out my cell phone ahaha.

It will be interesting to see your meal regime. I know i wouldn't enjoy it but I hope it works for you with your weight loss.

I don't think you should worry about keeping your metabolism up through the night. Its not healthy go to bed with a full stomach. The reason is because of the excretions of your pancreas and how they slop around when lying down. My father had a problem and this is what the doctor told him. Your metabolism will slow down as soon as its digested the cucumber anyway. So what's the point.

There's nothing wrong with yoghurt. Its got calcium which is good for strong bones. I think a premenopausal womans needs 1000mg per day.

Good Luck Kero! I follow the primal blueprint which is paleolithic but I dont follow it 100%. I occasionally have sprouted grain bread. I wish you luck :)

Calcium requirements

I think a premenopausal womans needs 1000mg per day.

You know I've enver actually looked up how much calcium I'm supposed to be eating. I'm always so busy obsessing with iron lol. 1000mg eh? I will keep that in mind, thanks for the info!!

Thanks, Tally!

Maybe I should check out P90x too, it seems to be working really weel for you :D

Exercise DVD too loud!

So, I am restless this morning. My muscles all feel like they need to be stretched, but I know I can't go to the gym today (it's very far, and the boyfriend works a 12 hour shift today). Doing around the house exercises will have to do.

I got up, had 2 bananas, eating an orange right now, it's ~1:45 so I should have more for lunch, but I'm just not hungry. I like to save my 1/2 up of cottage cheese for those times of day when I'm starving, or tempted to cheat on the diet, since it's so filling and yummy.

I spent like an hour last night trying to figure out why I can't add one of those ticker tracker things - apparently you have to post 10 times to have this function. I imagine a weight loss site like this gets a TON of people who join all excited, then quit right away so it makes sense.

I need like.. a yoga DVD or something to let me stretch! Something I might look into. I have exercise DVD's at my moms from years ago but those all require a lot of kicking and bouncing which does not do well in an apartment with people living under you - maybe someone here can reccomend a quiet exercise DVD~!

okay nevermind, you can't add a signature after 10 posts. This one little thing is frustrating me, I wish there were an article or faq somewhere on this site rather than me guessing randomly and looking through dozens of past posts.

I would suggest looking at the toneitup youtube channel or the bodyrocktv youtube channel for free workout videos or of course any other workout website :)

I don't really like advocating anyone run out and buy p90x. It's expensive plus you need weights and a band. I would feel horrible if people didn't end up liking it.

I look forward to seeing your signature!
