How about green peas, or sugar snaps?
Ooh when I said "beans" I actually meant "green peas", so yes, I do eat green peas but I would not eat beans lol. Sorry, English is not my native language and I get confused haha!
I LOVE CHICKPEAS ever since I discovered hummus. And I also tried hummus but instead of chickpeas it was made with eggplant, which I really don't like but that was also really good.
Have fun today in your hike!! :D

I love eating raw veg like baby carrots, celery, snow peas & having them with a little hummus. Are you in Aus, Kerla?
I've never tried dipping veggies into hummus, I might do it, though I prefer veggies when they are soft, I don't know if I'd like raw carrots.
Oh and I like pickles, like pickled coliflower, I should get a jar haha.
I am not from Australia, I'm from Argentina - hence my weird English :p

DAY 4
Breakfast - Total: 380 kcal
Coffee with milk
1 slice of bread
1 egg

Lunch - Total: 882 kcal
Chicken milanese with sauce and cheese
Mashed potatoes

Snack throughout the day - Total: 213 kcal
Banana
Low calory flan

Total: 1474
Water: 1.25 liters :(
Exercise: 25 min. on stationary bike

So this was yesterday. I have realised that I eat too much for lunch so then I feel guilty and I skip dinner. Today I'm going to try to change that. Also I have not been drinking enough water.

As for swimming... I kind of want to wait and talk about it tomorrow since it counts as day 5 buuuut...
IT WAS AWESOMEEEE. I'm so glad I went, thanks for encouraging me. I had forgotten how nice it was to be in a pool. My arms are sore now but it was a really good experience.
When I got there and saw that the teacher was a guy I felt even more nervous and intimidated but he was actually really nice. I felt like nobody even saw me so yaaaay!
The bad news are I only paid for one more class because next Saturday I'm going to be travelling. I'm a bit nervous about that, I don't know what I'll be eating because I'm travelling with my family and we'll be staying in a hotel. But after that I'll be back on track.
I don't really know if swimming only once per week will make a difference but at least it's relaxing. :) I can't wait to go again!

Better than not swimming, I am glad you enjoyed it.

No problem, English is my first language and I get confused all of the time. Food names can be a problem for an international group like this, even native English speakers call things by different names, for example what I call eggplant is called aubergine by a lot of the folks here. I am always having to look things up.
I'm from Argentina
That's cool, I spent a couple of weeks in Argentina, a week in Buenos Aries and a week driving to and from Iguazu. Its an amazing place you live in.

I watched a Youtube video where a lady used hummus as her salad "dressing", so why not mix it with cooked veggies if you prefer those?
Pickles are one of my all-time favorite things to eat - if they weren´t so high in sodium I could live them pretty much exclusively!

Awesome! We´re getting more and more international.

If it´s relaxing and fun it makes a difference, even if the calories burned may not make you slim.

How wonderful! Take your bathers with you. Many hotels have a pool. I have my bathers out & have tried them on & tried not to be self-critical. In the next month, I will go swimming & I will come to tell you about it. I don't think anyone really looks at anyone else when they are swimming. Most people have issues with some part of their body, even the slim ones.
Your English is very good :)

a week in Buenos Aries and a week driving to and from Iguazu
Oh, I am from Buenos Aires! I hope you had fun while you were here. I have never been to the Iguazu falls myself but I've heard they are beautiful.
What did you do in Buenos Aires? I always wonder what people do when they visit here because I don't think it's an interesting place xD

Omg how did I not think of this before?! *-* I need to try it!
Also did you guys know you can make meringue with the water that comes in a chickpeas can? it's crazy but when you whip it, it actually starts looking like meringue. I once tried to make vegan mayonnaise with it but it didn't work out.

Yes, do it! It's probably the only physical activity I enjoy haha!
You're right, there are people I consider to be gorgeous and they don't like their bodies, I guess we all go through the same.

DAY 5
Breakfast - Total: 380 kcal
Coffee with milk
1 slice of bread
1 egg

Lunch - Total: 269 kcal
Rice with veggies (onions, carrots, courgette) and sauce

Dinner - Total: 636 kcal
Chicken milanese with cheese and sauce
Chocolate dessert

Snack throughout the day - Total: 286 kcal
Banana
Yogurth with cereals
Cereal bar

Total: 1571 kcal
Water: 2 liters
Exercise: 1 hour swimming + 10 min. on stationary bike

I feel good about day 5.
My family ordered pizza and I decided not to have that.
To be honest, I don't think avoiding food is healthy for me (that lead me to binging in the past and since I consider this to be a new life-style, I know I can't spend the rest of my existence without certain foods lol) but if I want pizza, I will make it myself, that way I can control what goes into it. That being said, I did have a low calory chocolate dessert because it was Saturday and I deserved it :p
Today is Sunday and I'm ready for this :rotflmao:

I´ve heard about it but never tried because my stomach tends to complain even when I don´t rinse pulses well enough. Sounds intriguing though!
Well done on the pizza! An alternative could be to eat a slice of pizza along with a large salad to fill you up.

I think you're right about being too strict with ourselves just leads (for most of us) to reaction - and probably to a binge. :(

Your home-made pizza would probably have more fresh ingredients on it, too, so better nutrition.

What did you do in Buenos Aires? I always wonder what people do when they visit here because I don't think it's an interesting place xD
I suppose no one thinks the place they live is so special, you get too used to it. Some of the things I remember that impressed me were the Recoleta cemetery, a neighborhood with colorful mixed pastel houses, can't remember the name La Boca maybe, the zoo, and the many tango dancers. I also appreciated the vegetation, large subtropical trees and lots of greenery. And I always have fun trying to speak Spanish, mine is terrible but the challenge is fun, though I find Argentine Spanish harder for me to understand than our nearby Mexican. Your food, steaks, wine and deserts in particular were impressive.

Iguazu Falls was a truly amazing place. I have seen Niagara Falls just a few weeks earlier, and the contrast was surprising, Iguazu is so much larger and grander, and it sits in a very nice park with rain forest and lots of wildlife. You need to go! I also enjoyed the drive to Iguazu, though it took several days. That part of Argentina is lightly populated, lots of open country with large estancias, the Jesuit ruins were impressive as was seeing the Parana and Uruguay rivers up close. Finding places to eat and stay was a bit challenging, only small towns, few and far between. I was told Argentines are supposed to have a reputation for being less friendly, but I did not find that to be true, we met a number of very friendly locals, and found people to be welcoming and helpful.

I really liked Argentina, I dream of going back one day.

Good for you! And if you can fit a low calorie desert into that good for you!
1 hour swimming
Good news, keep it up!

And I´m browsing the forum waiting for the gym to open!
How did it go? did you have fun? :D

Hey Kerla, how's it going?
Hey Rob! I've been lazy and not been posting because I've injured my back and pretty much all I do all day is lay in bed :(
So no exercise for me. But the food is still on track, I'm still going strong haha.

Day 7 was my weight in and...
Starting weight: 95.5 kg
Current weight: 94.1 kg

It's exciting to see a change in the scale!
I'll continue weighing myself once a week.
I decided that my short term goal should be to be out of the 90s so my next goal is 89 kg

How did it go? did you have fun? :D
Yes! I may be going with a friend on Monday.
I've been lazy and not been posting because I've injured my back and pretty much all I do all day is lay in bed :(
Ouch! Have you seen a doctor? If at all possible try to stay active and walk at least short distances regularly even in this first phase (unless your doctor or therapist tells you otherwise). Except for some pretty extreme injuries current wisdom is to avoid bed rest (naps are fine). *Gets off soap box* I hope you get well soon.

I'm glad your eating is still on track as that's the main thing for weight-loss. I hope you do see a doctor soon xo

Down 1.4 kg in a week is pretty good! You are on a roll now.

Be careful with that back, you'll be needing it for a while yet.

Keep up the good work.

Hey Kerla, I have already wrote to you under your first post.

One thing in this diary stucked with me. You said that you managed to hit 74kgs, but you knew that's still not perfect weight for you.

Hope you won't mind, but I need to say something there.
I am 170, and almost a decade ago I have managed to get myself to 75-80kgs.
At that moment I have still felt like a failure, I was still bigger than most of my friends and I was frustrated. And from today's perspective - I wish I could go back in time and really say to myself that I should be happy and proud with my achievement. Because, I have REALLY achieved a lot, i lost 20-25kgs and that was a fact. I went from obese to just little overweight. When I look at my photos from that period today - I think I look good. Actually I would kill for that look. :) I'm pretty much muscular so that amount of weight looked just fine on me.

But, as I said, I was unhappy, frustrated, sad, and felt like I haven't done enough because I wasn't under 70kgs, and today I know that was wrong. If I loved myself just a little bit more with 80kgs, I probably wouldn't have 110 and more today.

I wanted to say - we should be happy with progress. Any progress! We should celebrate our own dedication and hard work. You should be happy each week because you lost 1 or 2 kg. Because that's not easy, and we forget that.

I know you imagine yourself with lot less thann like 75kgs, but that doesn't mean that you are failure if you went from 95 to 75! I would rather say you are a winner!

So wish you luck and please love yourself and be proud of yourself! Every kg counts!
Be thankful and happy!

I decided to promise myself - next time I hit number 8 on a scale - I will be so proud! Not sad, but proud! Because I owe that to myself.

:iagree: Absolutely and hear, hear!
