kelly's diary

I am having fun with my son's brand new laptop computer today, so I am visiting lots of threads. Its fun typing.

Thank you for the support Tammy and Joe. For exercise I am riding my bike or taking long walks, like 2 hours. Also doing some stretching. I will do the plank position, which is hard.

I see these amazing before and after photos and each one of them is a success story. There are so many success stories. I think each one must have connected with their deepest desires to be a shiny example of health. Turned their eating habits around for good, and for a long time.

Last night I marvelled that the next ten pounds for me will signify thirty pounds lost since January, and fifty pounds since my highest weight of 220. So I am really focussing on my calories and feeling good and going for it these days. Its only ten pounds away.

I am back to weighing myself every day as I am 180 exactly and I don't want to miss the day the magic scale says 179, oh happy day that will be.

I watched The Secret. Fantastic. We must be aware of what we desire.
Thoughts become things. It's really important to feel good so you attract more things that help you feel good. Don't delay actingon your good thoughts. Don't second guess. When the nudge from within is there, that's when you act. Just take the first step."[/B

When we have inspired thought we have to act on it. It creates an improved future for us and we are to continue creating. An abundant life. This is the law of attraction. Get attracted!

Hi Kelly! Thanks for stopping by my diary. :)
Those were beautiful words. I keep hearing about The Secret and people keep telling me I need to see it. So I'll consider you one more vote for me to watch it!

Yesterday I walked for 2 3/4 hours, it rained part of the time but I had my umbrella.

But I'm not getting a thorough body workout. Just my legs. Cycling one day, walking the next. Right now my only other option is to swim.

I would like to do some yoga.

There are a few options to work on the arms. One thing my trainer has me working a lot with at the gym are resistance bands. They're basically large rubber tubes with a handle on each end. They let me do all sorts of resistance exercises and they cost about $10 a piece.

I am frustrated. I eat my calories and go to bed usually a tad hungry. Then in the night I get in to the homemade granola and I have to add those calories on the next morning. Well I finished the granola last night, probably about a cup, which is nearly 600 calories.

I know, people will say ditch the granola, but the good thing is it is quick and nutritious as a breakfast, my son loves it, and well, I love it too.

Maybe I will try making a small batch, a "breakfast" batch. I was making a large quantity of it and had so much on hand.

Rode my bike 2 hours yesterday and 2 30 minute walks as well.

Feeling a bit down in the mornings when I wake up these days, yesterday too. Exercise saved me. Wondering what I will do with my life when my boys are gone from home, which seems to be already happening, although my youngest is just turning 15, it seems I am seeing him less and less. Must get out the door today.

Hi Kelly, I finally found your journal. :)

You have done an awesome job losing weight.

I did read that you are struggling with the weight loss, but still exercising quite a bit? What I have read in the past and have applied to myself (in the past) was that when you hit a plateau you should shake things up a bit. You can do this a few ways. One is through food, just changing your food menus will help. Like if you always eat granola for breakfast, then you might want to try a few eggs (or something else other than granola.) The same for lunch and dinner. Sometimes our body will get used to eating the same foods over and over again.

The other thing you can try is different exercises. I don't know what you are exactly doing besides walking and riding your bike, but you could incorporate an aerobic type of video, or weights - start out small and work your way up, or even yoga/pilates. When you use muscle toning exercises, you will work your muscles and muscles do help to raise your metabolism. And no you won't bulk out. ;)

Lastly is cut back on your calories, you probably wouldn't have to by much, but maybe somewhere between 1500 and 2000? It takes 3500 cals to equal 1 lb. So, if you cut your cals. back you could essentially lose a lb per week, just by doing that.

Anyway, it's just some ideas to toss around.

Good luck!

Hi Kelly!

Yes DO yoga, I just got back into it--I've also been meditating and chanting, LOL! Can someone say "California????" But no, it's been keeping me from drinking away my grief and it's apparently medically sound. Hope you're doing well emotionally, too, and keep on truckin' Gilrfriend, you know you WANT that goal!!

Did a vigorous yoga class today 1 1/2 hours. Great.

Also an amazing thing is happening, my intake has dropped to around 1800 calories these days because of the GRANOLA - half a cup in the morning is lasting me well in to the afternoon, or maybe I'm just staying busy.

Whatever, 1800 calories sounds good to me.

Have to stay busy.

Today I walked in the water at the beach for 2 hours, wore my shorts and got wet up to my waist. Good foot treatment walking on the sand. Water was very warm even though cloudy out, 45% body fat helps with that.

Also studied my bipolar book and am more determined to recognize my "sudden" mood shifts and irritability and respond rather than react to them.

Kelly you are such an amazing person. You read up on stuff and try to work it out, that's so huge!! I wish I would do that more often for myself. Reading is knowledge and we can never have to much of that!! I think YOGA IS FANTASTIC!! I love my yoga, pilates class and I wouldn't change or exchange them for any other classes. They really do a body and mind good! I think your on the right path. Way to go on the 1800 calories also, I think that's a really good intake for you, that should help shed those pounds for sure!! Great job Kelly, keep on going girl, you'll be down in pounds in NO TIME!!
Kim:jump: :jump: :)

Howdy Kelly,
Congrats on kicking butt in the yoyga department!
Also thats what I am realizing to if I can just find things to do and
learn how to cope with those nervous breakdown kind of days I can
finally once and for all get the weight off and look and feel better!
You aree doing great and 1,800 cals sounds good I will eventually
add more to.I had a few days last week where I did have a few bad choices
that added extra cals but not a ton of cals I think it was around 1,700
and I still lost.Oh I have to PM ya I almost forgot.Hope you have a wonderful day beautiful!:hug2: Tammy

Whoa, can I ever feel that yoga class in my arms and shoulders.

And I wanted to get an unlimited pass. Think I need a day to recuperate!

Plan on cycling to Parksville today (50 minutes one way) for legs workout.

Ate granola in the night, about a cup, so I'll plug it in to fitday and eat my next meal whenever I get hungry.

I can sure see how important it is to stay well rested. As soon as I start feeling beat I want to eat.

The yoga class sounds like a blast! I noticed there is a place in our little town that is offering yoga and aerobics classes, I'm going to call and check it out.

I do yoga via video or what I record via the dvr. It definitely is a super workout - I usually feel it the very next day in the shoulders and my sides.

You're doing great!

Something strange is happening. My food intake has dropped from 2000 calories to 1800 the last few days and I am tolerating it okay.

That's good. :) I don't know why but any time my cals are up past 1600, I stay or gain weight.

I have to really workout to be able to eat high cals.

Hey Kelly!

Thanks for stopping by. I'm not a "serious" walker, but I do like to do nature hikes. I guess if everyday was like that, I would do it every day. I know I couldn't walk on the treadmill for that long.

So got any plans for the weekend? Dh and ds are going on a "wilderness hike" with their church group of men. And that leaves me home with my other ds. We are going to do something, just don't know what as of yet.

Hey Kelly!
Yoga is supposed to be excellent for digestion. I remember saying to my gym friend, "No wonder why yoga people are so skinny! If you do yoga you don't really feel like eating much!"
Either way, I'm glad you're having an easier time keeping the cals below maintenance. I haven't had such an easy time, but I plan on doing yoga twice a week and I hope that will help. Have a great weekend!

Today is my youngest son's 15th birthday and I am pleased with how I am holding up so far, 6 p.m. and only 1550 calories so far. I am pleased with not needing or wanting everything in sight. Finding myself sated with less. Yeh.

Talking to another mother of an 18 year old who is also finding herself crying as son moves out, moves on. Have cried twice in last two days over my boys getting older. I feel myself diminishing in importance to them and suddenly my life seems full of emptiness. But I have a friend.

Awe, (((Hugs)))

My oldest is 15 and my youngest is 10. I know what you mean about feeling less important. But mom will always be important, just a different kind as they take on a new independence.

heh yeah birthdays are awesome eh. We had a birthday yesterday (my daughters, 1st sept) and then fathers day today and ive managed to be on the upper end of calories both days.

On the other hand it is nice to have some treats now and then eh :)
