Keeping the Muscle during cutting

G'day guys,

Last year I decided to begin a bulking routine which worked, but in reflection it was not very lean at all. Which is why when i began cycling (cutting routine) i probably lost alot of my size.

I have since been back on the wieghts and bulding muscle with a lot more sence about it and it seems to be working well and is keeping me lean. My question is, this summer when I get back on the bike (cutting routine), how should I approach my diet so as to not loose the muscle.

I was assuming keeping up the protein while I cycle should give my muscles enough to feed from. Although I am a little worried as I cycle to and from work which is about 50km a day. I do this three days a week. It worked last time but this time I am looking to keep the muscle.

Any tips would be great, cheers,

I think that on your biking days, you should put in some heavy lifts ie: bench presses where you can only push out 5 reps. You want to go almost to failure, but you don't want it to be a muscle building process either. Full body lifts and presses would work to prove to your body you need the muscle around.

Ok, I'll give that a go. Makes sence I suppose.

The only thing I was worrying about is my diet. But i guess if your body still believes I need the muscle and I am having the same amount of protein then the muscle should stay there.

What does everyone else think?

I have read on the forum here it is actually important to increase your protein intake when cutting as to maintain muscle.
