Hi everyone

A bit about me. I'm 25, 5'4...and a bit and weigh 123 pounds (I was 125 pounds 2 weeks ago). Im not vastly overweight (I wear a UK 8-10) but I have put on 7 pounds or so recently...and that was the top end of what I felt comfortable with.

The fat has mainly gone on my hips and I just feel really uncomfortable.

I'm finding it a bit hard because my family just say - how can you think you're fat when you wear a UK 8? But I'm fat based on what I was a year ago and what sits comfortably on my frame.

I also can't talk to my friends who are dieting because they dont take me seriously because they say 7-10 pounds is an 'easy' weight to lose. That may be so but they are losing 2-3 pounds a week eating a lot more than me and I am just about making the pound a week. I'm not saying its easy for them. I know its not. I just wish they'd take me seriously too.

So anyway. Here's my food diary for the last 2 weeks and I'll try and update it as we go on.

I try to eat 1200 calories a day (sometimes I'm full at 1000, sometimes I go up to 1250) as I was eating about 1700 before to maintain.

Hoping to lose a pound a week

If anyones got an advice, tips, suggestions or is in a similar situation to me I'd love to hear from you.

Are you doing any exercise?
1250 is low but you are already pretty tiny... I am always afraid that if I go so low whenever I eat "normal" again I will put on weight again, which is why I try to eat in a way that when I reach goal I will still eat about the same and not gain (because my body wants that amount of food at that weight if that makes sense).
Losing 7 pounds when you are thin already is not easy at all. The last few pounds are hard, I lost the first 20 fairly easily, but these last 15 are way harder to lose and sometimes I manage to lose 5 and then they creep back up if I have a holiday at my parents for instance. But I am also on the smaller side already (I am 5'4 also and weigh about 137 pounds, I don't look fat to the world, I just look fat to myself).
The good thing of being there and just needing to lose a few pounds is that we do it for aesthetical reasons and not for health reasons, we could live at our current weight and be fine, so it is not of absolute necessity, it is just a wish. I am not saying we shouldn't lose our fewer pounds, we should for our emotional wellbeing, but if we were very obese we would need to lose because of our health as well.

So another day done. It's weird because I felt really guilty eating that cupcake. And the silly thing is it was within my calories and I half ate it just to make up my calories as I didnt really fancy anything! Need to get out of that mentality!

Another day done. Went out for Sunday lunch so I deliberately had a light breakfast and just had a snack for tea. Lunch wasn't bad just alot of calories (3 big slices of beef, big yorkshire pud and some veg - no potatoes!).

Could have had another snack but not really hungry. Im not sure what you're supposed to do when you're under calories and not hungry. I see a lot of posts about making sure you hit your calories so you body doesnt go into starvation mode - but surely you shouldnt eat if you dont need to?

Well I weighed in this morning and I lost 2 pounds! That's 4 in total over the last two weeks. I'm now 121 pounds.

Very happy with that boost as we go into week 3!
 
Ugh I'm coming down with the lurgy which means my appetite is a bit weird but still going strong!

Still got a horrible cold and been feeling rough all day. Ive also been starving all day! Havent eaten anything extra though - I've been lying in bed all day. My body doesn't need any extra calories

So as mentioned in the last couple of posts I really did come down with the lurgy and didnt get out of bed for 3 days. Also eating was horrible. But hey feeling well enough to get up and move around today so everything will continue again.

Its funny. I realised yesterday how hard it is to stay under 1200 cals sometimes. As soon as you add even wholewheat bread, tortilla's etc I'm over. Its easy if I have some sort of protein and salad. But any deviation on that and I'm over.

Not as well as I thought I was today. Struggled to eat but managed to get lots of water as with the cold I'd become very dehydrated the last couple of days.

Hate that I got ill when I was doing so well. Start eating healthy and end up sick = irony

So weigh in this morning and I've lost another 2 pounds making me 119 pounds - and I'm now at my first target (7 pounds lost)!

119 pounds was always the top end of what I felt comfortable with in my body so I'm going to continue to work down to 112 pounds (my lightest) and stop on whatever feels right for me.

The lurgy is almost out of the way apart from a cough and sinus headache so hopefully Week 4 will be a better week!

Need to get some real food into me after not eating much last week!
 
7 pounds lost in 3 weeks? way to go!

Thankyou! Unfortunately I suspect it was because I got really unwell at the end of last week and didnt really eat for a few days. Not ideal weight loss but I'll take it! And will work hard this week to get some nutrients back into me!

Congrats on your weight loss too. Was just reading through your diary - well done!

Ugh still can't seem to eat. No appetite. And when I do eventually feel a bit hungry its tinged with nausea and I can only get through half of whatever im eating. But Ive just been eating as much as I can then putting the rest in the fridge and trying again later.

Finally got my appetite back! So had a good day today. I should probably also mention for anyone reading that I drink 5 or 6 pint glasses of water every day and also Im a tea addict (milk no sugar) so I also consume just under 200 cals of tea per day.

BTW for those in the UK I had a different yogurt today. It was a Muller Light Rasberry and Cranberry one. Only 100 cals and it kept me really full up until lunch.
