Katie, in transition

Day 16:

I did my chest and back workout last night. I have to say... I KILLED it :) I did 27 full- body push-ups straight. Last week, I did 8 decline push-ups (feet on a chair, hands on floor) and this week I did 12! That's a 50% increase!! Lol I am not meaning to brag at all. I am just so proud of myself :)

Tonight is plyo. Not sure how I can do it cause my workout area is still on the fritz. Last week I went to the gym at 6 am to do my arms and shoulders eworkout. I am not a morning person, let alone a morning exerciser (most of my p90x workout take place after 7 pm). And I havve to say that I felt great :) maybe I will try to start working out in the morning.. Naw! Lol

This week has kind of gone to the birds in terms of workouts... and eating :(. I missed my tuesday Plyo workout cause i have no space in my house to jump around like Tony requires :p so I went to the gym with my brother on wednesday, and did the wedndesday arms&shoulders workout, plus like 45 minutes of cardio to make up for some of the missed calories burnt on tuesday. and i didnt work out yesterday cause i had a busy day, and went out with my girlfriends at night instead :( i am going to workout today, mayyybe tomorrow. and definitely sunday if i can't get saturday in. :)

thats the ONE thing about this program that I find tough. the workouts are tough, but they're not impossible to complete. but actually finding an hour+ 6 days per week is tough. especially when I deviate from my routine the sliiightest. like, if i were to go to work, and come home at the same time everyday, and that was it... no problem. its when i decide to be social after work that i have a problem. why is it that exercising and being social have to conflict with each other...? :(

Hey mate!
Congrats on the new job :)
You are so disciplined, well done on all your hard work.
I hope your Grandma is doing well now.

Reading your diary is way motivational - you're a workout machine!

That's SO awesome to hear! You know what, i think i need to remind myself of that! It might not be the most fun, or the most comfortable- but that shouldn't stop me! I should keep going!

You're doing FANTASTIC!! Congrats! You should be so proud- and the motivation you have for keeping it up is great!

I hear the P90X is a fantastic program! It's great that you're getting into it, and are having fun with it! You should be very proud!

Glad you're back updating, and I can't wait to hear more!

PS: I hear rock climbing is FANTASTIC!

That means more to me than you can imagine. :) its hard to believe that I am movitating other people, but is a pretty awesome feeling. so thank you!!! :D

my grandma is doing a lot better. She was in the hospital for a few months, but is out now, and living close to our house in a really nice assisted living centre. She's being treated like a queen, especially compared to the hospital life. Thanks for mentioning :)

Tik- The program really is lots of fun. It's nice to have something different everyday, and i have really gotten used to not having to leave my house to workout lol. its hard work, but i have never actually been able to notice results on my body, which means its happening faster than i am used to. and i credit the program with getting my below my barrier of 140 :) yay. lol

Today is my first day of the first recovery week. today is yoga day, which should be nice. its the only yoga i have ever done, and i like that its kind of calming, but i sweat tonnes at the same time. the only downfall is that the video is 90 minutes (ughhh).... but i need to remind myself that i work out for that long when i hit the gym... lol

I am starting to plan for the summer. I am hoping that i can get on a baseball team or something, get active in a more social way. if anyone knows of a good site for rockclimbing groups, too... lemme know :) haha

later. :)

You sounds SOOO happy! I LOVE that you're planning for summer, and it sounds like you're going to have a blast!!!

You're doing great! And you have wonderful motivation! I saw the 90 minute yoga video, and was like "oh dear god!!!"...good for you for sticking through it, and telling yourself you can do it!!

Awesome work!! You're going to kill at baseball this summer!

:) thank you! having people respond on your diary actually makes the world of difference, and (somehow) makes the workouts easier. lol im not sure about being good at baseball... i'm an awfully slow runner and my arm has gone. its more for the socialization and beer ;) haha

today... day 24 i guess.
i missed yesterdays workout... lol i had to drive like 2.5 hours (ONE-WAY... 5 hours driving total lol) for work, and was exhausted when i got home. I had planned on waking up early and getting my workout in before i left, but didn't happen cause i have been sleeping kinda badly, so i was tired when the alarm went off. snooze.

today, i did core synergistics... my favourite!!! its like everything in a one-hour video. cardio, arms, legs, and (of course) core. awesome. tomorrow will be kenpo, which is alright. i read yesterday that they are coming out with a new P90X soon... i am excited. lol even with 12 different videos, you still get kinda sick of them.

also today... we got a buuuunch of snow last night, and i shovelled the driveway with my dad, got a sweat on. and took my dog for a 20 minute walk. so my exercise was good today. (even if i did have a smaaaall amount of ice cream after my video lol shhh..)

tomorrow should be rough. up at 5:30, drive for about 2 hours for 30 minutes of work. lol but then i have the rest of the day!!! who knows what i will do. maybe watch some more Say Yes to The Dress ;)

later days xo

dayyy.... 25 (i think?)

just finished Kenpo. Its kinda nice, i woke up at 5:30... did my hour-fifteen of driving, 30 minute meeting, and then drove back. was home at 11 a.m. Have since eaten lunch, completed my workout, and eaten a post-workout snack. and its only 2:15. lol what to do with the rest of my day?.... i think i will nap.

Today I am feeling my core muscles from yesterday's workout. little sore. LOVE that feeling!!! not much else to talk about today... must be that 5:30 a.m. wake-up catching up to me. *yawns*

later :)

Holy! Look at you go! I can't get over how great you're doing with the p90x! That stuff is HARD!! And you shouldn't feel guilty about missing a work out (sometimes your body just needs the sleep and rest to recover!!!) or the icecream (you should treat yourself for all your hard work!!)

You're doing an awesome job!

How did you like the snow!? We got 43cm of it yesterday! There are snow banks as large as ME!!! :O I can't believe it! hehehe

lol defintiely HUGE snowbanks here too. i probly just missed this in your diary, but what area do you live in? canada/states...? :) at least it was light snow... not AS bad to shovel. lol and my driveway is a decent size. haha

this morning... EPIPHANY!

I have decided (yes decided!) that I am going to be 130lbs by my birthday! my birthday is June 15th, and I am currently 138 pounds..

now.. before you go off saying that its like 4 months to lose 8 pounds, so easy. i know. lol i SHOULD be able to do it. but i have never reached a hard goal before in my life. and i eat pretty badly considering that i am trying to get smaller.

so here is my plan... finish p90x (done April 9th i think). start keeping better track of what i am eating. once p90x is done, i may join a gym or find another set of classes or soemthing. I weighed myself this morning, and i haven't lost any weight since starting this round of p90x, so the problem HAS to be in my diet. i am going to aim for 1500-1800 calories per day, tryyyying to limit the carbs to like 125 g i think (feedback? too high?... i eat a lot of carbs lol) and up my protein a bit.

so if anyone has some further tips for me, that would be great. what do you guys do to reach a goal? put pictures up, or i thought maybe making a graph of my weight loss progress, in where i should be to reach my goal? any tips? i really want this to be my first goal i actually hit. i think i can do it if i eat properly and keep myself accountible on here, i can do it :) yaaaay

You probably will gain some muscle too while doing p90x so I suggest taking measurements too. I am currently doing month 2 and just started this week. I could not believe how much the rest week relaxed my body and made it seem like I had only just began working out!! I never would have even thought it was true lol.

I think the carb amount sounds okay. I don't keep track but I do try to eat healthy when I eat. Some people see a lot of change in phase 2 but this is my first time doing it all the way through so I don't have any personal experience yet.

You can totally make your goal by your bday! I would suggest slowly making changes that way if your body actually stops losing weight you only have to make another small change to kick start it up again.

Glad to hear she's better and in a nice place Katie - no worries. :)

I know what you mean about more social exercise - I was thinking of looking for a local tennis club to go to, but now I'm working full time I think I just won't have the time. Rock climbing would be awesome!

:) I reckon you'll get to that goal no worries at all. Especially since you're doing that p90x!

yeah, i did the program last year too, and i defintiely noticed the biggest difference during the second phase. around week 6 or so. measurements are a good call, and i took pictures during the first part that I can use as well. :)

Thank you for your encouragement. lol we'll see. it sounds like it should work, but i always have trouble. lol tennis is another activity i was thinking about too! i have never even really played. maybe its about time. lol

alright. tomorrow is OFFICIAL weigh-in day. I weighed myself earlier this week, and there had been no change. i maaaay jsut go by that weight, since my mom was "kind" enough to make home-made chicken wings and fries for the super bowl tonight... haha scale may not be so happy. buuut i told them that from now on, I am serious about reachign my goal, and will do my best to avoid those foods. this means, that if they order pizza, i make myself something healthy. we'll see how this goes, just take it one meal at a time i guess..

i have been super with my workouts this week. today, however, i got abotu 20 minutes into the yoga video, and i felt my shoulder tweaking a bit. it was like the muscles were tired (almost like I had been holding it straight up for some time), but it really shouldn't have been. my family has a history of weak shoulders, so i thoguht it would be better to stop early than push through and wreck it. just have to pick up some slack tomorrow (*cough* start of phase 2).

overall, everything else has been kind of meh. I will post measurements tomorrow, and PERHAPPPS pics (probly not... they get taken in my bikini). lol we'll see if I am feeling brave enough.

later days <3

weighed and measured myself this morning :) **note: all measurements were done by myself, which is awkward in some positions... lol they may not be 100% accurate** lol

Weight 130
BF% 31.40% (online output)
Chest 34"
Boobs 36"
Shoulders 40"
Waist 29
Hips (Bone) 33.5"
Bum 38.5"
R Thigh 23"
L. Thigh 23"
R. Bicep 11"
L. Bicep 11"
R. Calf 14.5"
L. Calf 15"

so really, not too much of a difference from day 45 of Round 1 of p90x (Sept 29th). just means that I have to step it up ;)

oh, and calculated today... based on the website i used, I am about 31.4% body fat. (taken with a grain of salt, as it is just based on measurements) means i have about 107lbs of lean mass, and about 31lbs of fat right now. If i lose 8 pounds of fat (which is my goal), i will be down to 23lbs fat, which puts me at 18% body fat. OMG!! lol seems less realistic now...... just means I have to work harder i guess :)

wish me luck :S

How are you liking P90X?

How are you liking P90X?

i LOVE it. :) i am noticing such a difference. defintiely recommend it if you can get your hands on it.

just did plyo. i was worried that i would be sick, cause i felt like puking and had to stop the last time i did it. ... which was like a month ago. lol thought it was going to be an awful experience. lol but i feel AWESOME!! i killed it! i made it through, with bonus, and didn't die!! woot woot. lol maybe this is the workout high i've heard speak of. :D

also, yesterday, my mom took some pics of me in my bathing suit, and i compared them to my August pics (when i first started Round 1 of the program). i can actually see a difference. my waist has more definition in the "skinny" part, and my thighs are thinner. and, of course, my arms and back are more toned and muscle-y. yaaay.

i am so motivated right now to hit my 130lbs goal by June 15th. i feel that i am on the right track. i feel like i look better, and have even been called a "babe" by a guy that isn't my boyfriend (i know it's silly and i shouldn't have to rely on the opinions/comments of guys to increase my self-esteem, but it feels soooo nice to hear that). i never really get hit on when i go out, becasue i am always with my boyfriend. i got hit on more when i was 15 pounds heavier (looked about 30 lbs, due to my short height) than i do now, which kind of hurts. my boyfriend gets hit on more than me, which doesn't seem right. lol so to be called a babe, by a guy that i have had a couple crushes on in the past, single days, was SUPER nice. :)

wow glad to hear your doing well and getting hit-on haha.
I bet you look great! keep up the awesome work!
