Oh where do i start, as of January 1st 2007 im a changed woman, My name is Kalie, im 20, 21 in july, i am married and have 2 babies, i am a stay at home mom, my husband works his butt off so i can be here with my kids, we just bought our first house together in October, Now with the house the kids the dog, everything, i need to focus on myself and get my body back!! I weighted myself Jan 1st, and weighed in at 203. As of today, i weighed in at 196, so 7 pounds so far, i dont know if thats too much but im not going to complain, Ive been eating super healthy and working out at the gym for 1 hour each night, here is what i ate yesterday, tell me what you think, this is an average day for me.
Breakfast 1 package apple cinamon oatmeal 1 apple and glass of water.
snack Special k snack bar.
Lunch Veggie and chese sandwich "2peices 7 grain bread, 1 tbs light miracle whip, mustard, 1 slice chese, cucumbers, onions lettuce and shredded carrot. and 1 carrot stick, more water
dinner Chicken breast with brown rice and corn.
snack bowl of frozen berries and fat free cool whip.
SO thats a typical day, sometime i eat a little more, thats pretty much the least amount i will eat right there, mind you i love to eat, i can outeat alot of men LOL!! I dont really count calories too well, maybe i should?? so i have no idea what im taking in, other than i just feel like im eating sensibly and working my buns off at the gym everynight, Im excited to try new foods, im a beef lover, i love hamburgers, so instead i went to costco and got some turkey burgers and whole wheat buns, have you had them?? im kind of excited to try them, oh and i got some ground turkey so i can still make my fav food, spaghetti I really want to try and stay away from ground beef, im trying to only eat white mean, no red, except pork lean pork I just want to be healthy and get down to 160, for my build that would be pretty thin, so here we go, im ready to do this and im so excited theres a place like this where i can come for help!!!!! Thanks all!!

Kalie.. welcome to the forum..

your food looks great. The oatmeal probably had the highest amount calorie wise depending if you added sugar or milk to it. Counting calories seems hard at first looking up each brand and measuring it out. after awhile it gets easier if you keep using the same brands. There are several sites online that have the calorie count and sometimes you can look up the name brand itself. I love beef as well and it's something to use sparingly or just be prepared to offset the rest of the calories accordingly. I use turkey for all kinds of things.... lasagna, chili, burgers, tacos. The burgers tend to be a little dry since there is very little fat in them. Turkey is bland so it will take on any spice you put on it.

Thank you guys so much!! thanks hillbilly, we sound like we have alot in common, You look like youre doing awesome, ill be sure to check out your diary next, another questions i have is, when im working out on the eliptical my heartrate goes through the roof yet i dont feel like im gonna die or anything, i can still carry on a conversation and breathe fine, yet my heartrate is 180~190, i do hav eslightly high blood pressure and my resting rate is around 80, everyone tells me that my heart will get stronger and that number will go down and wont get so high?? what do you all think! I saw an internalist 9 months ago after i had my son about my blood pressure and he said "go on with exercize as usual youre doing fine" but i wasnt working out then, i just starrted this past week. so im just keepin on hoping i wont have a stroke or heart attack in the middle of the gym, that would be embarassing LOL!!

Embarrassing, I don't know about, but it would really cramp your parenting for awhile ;)

If you have ANY concerns about working out, you really need to check with your doctor - it's not worth taking any chances!

Good luck with your weight loss so far, and welcome to the WLF :)

A resting rate of 80 is quite fine, so it shouldn't be a precursor to such a dramatic increase in your heart rate while you're exercising. 180-190 is pretty high for anyone, but can be dangerous for someone who has a history of high blood pressure and is not overly athletic. It's true that your heart will get stronger the more you exercise, so why don't you set your target heart rate a little lower and maintain that level while you're working out? Try around 160. You won't feel like you're working as hard, but it will definitiely be healthier for you, as someone who has high BP. A little nurse's motto: Start low and go slow! We live by it. lol It is good though that you still feel that you can breathe and talk while working out, that's very important when you're climbing your heart rate like that. So good for you!

I think im oging to stick to the treadmill for a while and keep my heart rate lower, also i noticed my heart rate stays around 160 which i know is good when i do the cycling in the gym, but i dont feel like its that great of a work out, it doesnt burn many calories, what do you all think?? is cycling good for you? i think its just the elliptical machine that really gets my heartrate up high!

Kalie that heart rate could be dangerous. The only way to tell really is to see a cardiologist and let them hook you up to an EKG and work the bagesus out of you. 150 is a good workout on the high side but I wouldn't go past that. Honestly I'd look for a sustained 130-140. On the exercise calories like the cycling it depends on your speed. The bigger you are the more calories you burn since your body expends more energy. The fast you pedal will also increase the amount you burn. It it great for the legs and glutes and will keep your heart pumping if you push yourself hard enough. There are places like this online

that will let you choose different exercises and see roughly what they will burn per hour.

So im excited to say that i went to the gym yesterday and never got my heart rate past 155, i didnt feel like i got that great of a workout though, but i know i did, i spent 30 minutes on the eliptical with no arm movements, 20 min on the treadmill and 10 min on the bike, it was a horrible day though yesterday, we had winds up to 80mph, there is so much damage, fallen trees broken fences, roofs missing, you name it, half our town was out of power, thankfully we werent, but with all the chaos i didnt get to eat dinner until 8 30 and i know thats bad, but im starting my day off with an apple a protein bad and a few bites of my sons banana, i know its not alot but like i said i ate dinner so late, im not all that hungry, IM so angry though because my satelite is out and they say it will be 2 weeks before a tech can come fix it, i cant live 2 weeks without House, Greys Anatomy, and Standoff, theyre my favorite, oh and i missed desperate housewives last night, so im a little bummed, my hubby is oging to try and fix it, 2 weeks, thats just crazy. i guess itll give me more time to get stuff done though right????

oh and i missed desperate housewives last night, so im a little bummed

Oh, that sucks! It was a really good episode. I'm a DH nut... It's a guilty pleasure of mine. I hardly watch any TV, but I'm just so addicted to DH. Haha

Good job on getting a good workout without driving your heart rate through the roof. I'm sure it will take some getting used to, but it's much better for you in the end.

So another pound down, no im 195, im so happy, it just gives me so much encouragment to see the progress!! I went to the gym again yesterday and my heart is just getting stronger and stronger, i have not slipped up one time in the last week, and i have worked out everyday! im proud of myself, I have had weak moments though, definitly and some very pissy moments!! I think its gonna be all worth it in the end, i just got my new victoria secret catalogs and i WILL wear a tankini by july, bikini NO because ive had 2 kids and have stretch marks "not bad" Im seriouslyt considering when i lose all my weight getting surgery to tighten all my loose skin, and maybe a boob job, cause theyre for sure gettin smaller LOL!!!

Thanks for all the encouragement, gosh right now im thinking about the best mexican food resturant in town, OHH it sounds so good i can smell it, how do we conquer these cravings. today is the day my husband gets paid and we always go out for mexican food or something tonight, and i really want to!!! but i cant! ohh temptations, why is food such a damn struggle, i know if i ate it, i would feel absolutely horrible!!! Oh and when "if at all" do you guys reward yourself and have a "forbidden mean or food" is that ever ok, or will i never eat mexican again??? Im starting to rethink this whole healthy eating thing, i mean darn!!! I NEED SOME HELP!!

I weighed myself this morning and now im 194, it doesnt seem right im loseing like a pound a day, and i always weigh myself at the same time, becasue i know how it can fluctuate throughout the day, it seems like a lot of weight to lose in such a short time, but im being very healthy about it, i think my body is just shocked because i havent worked out in over a year and now im just working out for an hour every day,. I got over my craving yesterday and did great!!still hanging in there!!

Soon it moves pretty fast at first. I don't think it's anything to worry about. It will probably slow down before you want it to lol......

It's ok to lose up to 4lbs a week. A lot of people lose more than that, but it's not very good for your body. Anymore than that is probably not from burning fat. You could just be losing water stores or having muscle wasting. In your case, I can't see you wasting muscle because you're exercising regularly. Anyway, just watch out for losing too much too fast. You don't wanna confuse your organs.
As for the Mexican food, it's ok to reward yourself once in a while. But that doesn't mean you can go and pig out. You can still enjoy your Mexican food every now and then. Just pick something that's not too fatty (nothing deep fried or smothered in sour cream) and eat less of it. Just eat half and take the rest home for lunch the next day or something. I think it was Wishes who recommended that I do that (Thanks Wishes!)

I went to the gym last night and got a good work out in, i finally was brave enough to venture back to the strength training machines, they scare me for some reason, i just feel like im oging to sit down on it wrong or do it wrong and look stupid LOL and my hubby keeps saying you need to do weights, so i did, and that was good, but im getting frusterdated, becasue i dont look different, my clothes arent loose at all, but yet ive lost 10 pounds, water right?? when when will i see a change, i havent slipped up once ive kept to my rules as follows
~no sweets "cookies candies cakes"
~nothing fried
~no eating after 7 "ok so one night i ate at like 8 because of my stupid tv being broken and i had to fix it"
~no fast food, only subway once a week and keep it to a 6 inch.
~work out everyday at least 30 min.

SO is it nomal for it to take a while to see results with your eyes, because im starting to feel like, if its not making any difference why am i doing this??

Yes, it's perfectly normal not to be able to see the weight loss with your eyes yet. It depends entirely on your body shape and the distribution of the weight loss. For example, when I lose a few pounds, it's usually fairly noticable because my face and neck look thinner (but I will look exactly the same everywhere else). Maybe your weight loss is distributed all over your body. So you're losing it in the butt, hips, tummy, legs, all at one time. It makes it harder to notice at first, but you'll see a difference!
