Kaitie's Open Diary

I just had two globs of cookie dough---I'm happy. :) Until tomorrow when it all shows on the scale, then I'll be sad but it's day off diet day so I should just enjoy it.

So today has been kindof dull...although I suppose dull is better than crazy. :)

We got a delayed opening today for school (yippee) and half the kids are out, of course it's the good kids that are out---which is of course never what the teacher wants. Who wants a class filled with the pain in the behind kids? But it doesn't really matter for me...I have a drum class and a clarinet class coming up---easy. It's nice to be able to hand pick my kids. My collegue says that I only pick 'the good kids' and damn straight I'm picking good kids! Why should the kids who yell at teachers, get suspended left and right etc...get the privilege of being in Band? Why should my instruments go into the hands of kids who don't deserve them? But then again, my collegue is really psycho...seriously, she is loco. She's out today, she always calls out when it snows...she makes it sound like we have a 12 foot snow storm but whatever, they're her days to take off.

Oh I did get my microphones today, they're sweet! 10 cordless head set mics so that almost all the kids in the show will be mic'ed and heard! Weehee! I was surprised she ordered them...it was $5000.00 but she (my principal) just loves our shows so anything goes with her. That's what makes this job a 1000 times better than my old job (which I still have nightmares about sometimes). This school values music and me. My old p.i.t.a. principal hated music, hated me and....well it was just a freakin' mess---I'm sure Cannon can relate to idiotic administration.

um...can you tell that I'm a little bored? :)

*still rambles on and on*

Our show is coming along well, I need to get the set painter in here and John is going to do some construction for me tomorrow. He's good like that. I should see if I can find a way for him to get paid but I doubt it. Alright, I'm going to go find something do. I guess my drummers aren't here today.

Bye!

Oh boy can I relate lol. Seriously, one of my best friends at school is a retiring band director. He has moved onto drama, but he told of coming into a school and seeing kids racing a tuba and a trombone down the staircase by sliding them down the railing. You need at least semi-responsible kids to do band. You are getting so close to your goal :)

*sqwee* I know...I can't believe I'm only 27 pounds away...most times I still feel fat---and really I think parts of me are still really fat (my gut) but this morning I looked into the mirror and thought 'wow, my shoulders look really skinny' I know, random weird thoughts but hey. I've also gone from a 46 inch rib cage to a 33 inch rib cage which (ladies) has brought me down from a size 42 bra to a size 36  Never thought I'd be that skinny---now if only the width of the girls would shrink so that I wouldn't be double anythings. :sigh: I guess that'll take the remaining 27 pounds, but alas...it's all good. I hope to be down another 10 pounds by April 20th which is my brother-in-laws wedding. The crazy dress maker made me get a size 18, which I know is going to be super swimming on me and I won't have any time to get it altered....maybe my mom can do it really quick...or I just use safety pins :)

Ok, gotta go babysit a class....yes that's what I call it when they cancel my real class to go watch someone else's class. Annoying. Highly annoying. But....at least I'm getting skinny!!!!!!!! :) :) :) :)

yay for getting skinny :)

hey it's International Polar Bear Day - have you hugged a polar bear today? probably not the wisest thing to do -they are cute but thoroughly mean creatures :)

Hi Kaitie -- I was reading through your journal, partly because my wife works with kids too. She's a 3rd grade teacher in the public school system.

I'm very impressed with your progress so far! Amazing.

I weigh myself every day too, and record it on the spreadsheet. But I also keep a 5 day moving average, so when the scale goes up for some stupid reason, I'm not totally freaked out.

Hello TomO! Thanks for visiting my diary and thanks for the compliments.

I doing fine, nothing spectacular this week--I knew it would be an average week (always is around this time of the month) but I'm off to the gym soon and hope to get down to 155 by the end of the week.

The show is going ok, the kids are having trouble singing---bad news when you're doing a musical. But at least the acting and choreography are going ok.

*goes to look at the site*

Oh my gosh, I seriously have no idea how that Sujaya guy has not been voted off yet--he totally sucks!

For the ladies I'm rooting for Melinda Doolittle and Sabrina.
For the guys I'm rooting for Chris Sligh and Blake.

sounds like we have about the same taste in our idols! i do like lakisha as well.

i could not believe that aj was voted off instead of sanjaya. just crazy!

i am ready to get rid of antonella as well.

Antonella is my sucky Jersey girl! I really had high hopes for her and well...she's just been awful.

AJ had that cabaret sound to him...I don't think that he would've lasted to much longer but I totally think that Sanjaya deserved to go home before him.

TomO: That website is so crazy! Yeah, let's vote for the worst people just to hear bad singing every week!

It would really be funny if the worst people suddenly started staying in, as happened last week -- just to see Simon roll his eyes back in his head, Paula struggle for some encouraging words about how they look, and Randy shrugging and saying, "I don't know, dude..."

As a musician, I can't stand seeing the sucky contestants making through each round---it's maddening actually.

Down with Sunjaya!

Hi kaitie

I remember you, I'll have to read some more of your diary sometime. You've done awesome over 50 pounds and your husband has lost lots too. Congratulations.
