Kady's Diary

Well, I got up yesterday and worked out. Did my weight training. I had wanted to do Cardio as well, but simply ran out of time. My eating was terrible though. I usually do best if I have 5 small (around three hundred calories) meals a day. Instead, yesterday, I didn't have breakfast or morning snack, then had a big bowl of lasagna before going to the pool for the day. I had a few grapes and cheese and crackers at the pool, then ate homemade guacamole and chips for dinner. So unhealthy.

I am tring harder today. I got up this morning and did cardio. I had scrambled egg whites for breakfast and I am about to have some Garlic Triscuits for snack. We'll see how it goes......

I didn't realize the week-end was as bad as it was. I thought I doing decent by having chicken fajitas, but I guess all those extras add up. I actually gained weight, but I refuse to change my ticker. I will eat salads until I fix this. :(

Feeling better about everything now. I have gotten rid of the extra water and I am looking forward to working out again. I hope to be able to work out tomorrow. I have had a nasty infection and haven't been able to do my cardio because of all the kicks.

I had chicken quesadillas for dinner and I am enjoying my one drink for the evening. I think I am going to move my weigh in day to Friday instead of Monday.

I have done farely well for the last two days, still not working out, but at least being very conscious about what I am eating. I think I have had at least 100 oz of water each day. I feel goo about it. I got on the scale this morning and it showed I had dropped 6 lbs since Monday. I'm not sure if that is all water, but i still feel better.

your water was great, and well done dropping the 6lb and I am glad you are feeling better.

What are you planning to do to increase your exercise ?

I try to get in 45 minutes of Cardio or weight training in about 6 days a week. I've been off for a week, so I will need to ease back in. I have videos that I use; I've really enjoyed them. I am going to try to do both workouts in the morning.

I got back on the scales today, down 4 pounds from Monday. I have eaten more fast food and take out than i care to admit these last couple days. My oldest son turned 8 this week, so we've had one family dinner after another. We've got another one tonight. I am trying to stay reasonable while going out to eat. I have started asking for a to go box when they bring the food so that I can immediately take 1/2 the food off my plate.

Still drinking LOTS of water. That really seems to help with hunger. My problem now is that I tend to look for something to eat when I am bored.

With Texas being so wet this year, the peach crop is GREAT! I love peaches. I'm not sure how they rank in calories and sugars, so if anyone knows, I would love to know!

i did ok today. Neighborhood breakfast with a pancake and 1 sausage link. I didn't eat a whole piece of cake at the birthday party and then I made homemade Alfredo w/ Farfalle and chicken for dinner. I went light on the sauce on mine, so I still got the taste, but hopefully not quite so many calories.

Tomorrow is yet another day at the pool, only this time we are going to my dad's house. He makes the BEST pina coladas. I will try to have just one, but I'm not promising anything!

Hi katy,

You are on a good roll girlfriend!!!! I have been out of touch because I do not have internet out at my cabin and I plan on spending most of July there too. It has been good for me though. You seem to have gotten around that birthday pretty good If it was me, I would have gained 6 pounds! Keep it up!!!!

Working Out!!!

Finally! I got a workout in this morning. I am being extra careful to ease back in, as I don't want to get overly sore and not be able to work out tomorrow. I did one set of 15 reps (for each muscle group) on my weights and 20 minutes of Cardio. I felt great today. Had Yogurt for breakfast, a peach for snack, Lean Cuisine lunch, apple for snack, and chicken taco salad w/ baked shell for dinner.

I hope tomorrow is even better!

worked out again Tuesday morning, but didn't today. I am really paying attention to what I am eating and drinking so much water, i'm sure I will float away soon. Will be starting my knock off version of the colon cleanse tonight. I'm looking for details about other programs, though.

why types of programs are you looking for?

your body is basically self cleansing, as long as you are eating plenty of fiber and drinking water... you really don't need a program to help you with that...

What cleanse are you doing? I came back from camp and only managed 10 days instead of the 3 weeks. It is hard! But worth it. Although the body is self cleansing, a good colon cleanse helps take away a lot of those cravings and then when you go back on a good healthy diet, your body will be better tuned up to deal with it. That my humble opinion. I love the way I feel after a good cleanse. Light and less driven by food cravings. Well, you'll see.......

You are doing very well so far. I am kinda stuck this week now that I've come back from camp. I hope I am up and on track by tommorrow. Keep it up katy. ps, how are those kids doing? Keeping you busy???:rotflmao:

I got a 2 week program at the local drug store (Not sure of name). You take 4 fiber pills inthe morning, 4 more at night with 2 laxatives and a "milk thistle" pill for the first week, then drop it to one laxative and 2 milk thistles for the next week. It has no diet restrictions. I've done it before, and it works fine as long as I am taking the extra fiber, but as soon as I stop taking the fiber, i go back to the regular schedule (which is once a week if I'm lucky).

I have been drinking 100+ ounces of water every day this week trying to help with the cleanse. I still feel tired/sluggish at this point. Hopefully I will feel more energetic soon. I am still tyring to find the Arise and Shine down here.

I am trying to work out in the morning (three mornings this week so far) and last night the kids and I walked about a mile and a half.

I'm glad you are getting results. I think I wouldn't mind doing a less severe cleanse like that as something you could do while life was still carrying on. How is the weight loss going? Have you hit a plateau yet? It;s great to go walking with your kids. Good for the kids to have that fitness thing starting early. Hope all is going well. I;m back to camp till Thursday. I love summer but sometimes, its nice to have a routine of sorts. ya know???????? take care. karen

my plateau hasn't hit yet. I love going for walks with the kids! My oldest is chubby, so I think he needs it. Even his doctor said his BMI was too high. How do you help a kid? He is 8 years old and weighs probably 85 lbs. I serve reasonably healthy dinners, I don't allow him to have more than seconds, and I rarely offer dessert. It throws me for a loop. I guess it is genetic. There is no one on my side of the family that is obese, but his father's family has a couple of over-weight members.

Anyway, i ate horrible today. Had grilled chicken sandwich and fries for lunch then a big T-bone and mashed potatoes for dinner. I will try harder tomorrow. Man, I am so sick of saying that!

Well, I got up and worked out this morning. Took my fiber pills, no breakfast, no morning snack, had a lean Cuisine and side salad for lunch. I have the munchies this afternoon. My sweet tooth is driving me crazy. I am craving chocolate and sugar like nobody's business! I had a half a pack of Skittles and 4 squares from a Hershey's bar. Hopefully that will carry me until dinner. Can't decide on what to cook.I have plenty of meat at the house, but not a lot to go with it. I need to go to the store and re-stock the fridge/pantry.

If anyone (like anyone is looking at this besides me since Karen is at the cabin) has any ideas for summer side dishes that are figure friendly, feel free to let me know.

I am going to get a new pair of running shoes come pay day and start training for a 5K in October. A good friend of mine is looking GREAT and her son is 4 months younger than mine. She ran a 5K in July. I am hoping to be up to par so that I can run it in under 30 minutes. I will consider that a fine finish for my first one. I used to run cross country in high school (How long ago was that?!) and really liked it. If I can get back up to running 4-5 miles at a shot I would be thrilled.

So again, any advise is welcome- How does it sound if I were to run at least 3 days a week and weight train 2 days a week and try to squeeze in a couple of cardio (Turbo Jam) videos a week? Will I need to run more than that? I will try to guage it after the second week.

I am planning so many activities right now. Any ideas on healthy, but tasty, appetizer/finger foods would be appreciated.

It seems that I work out on Monday and Tuesday, tend to tak eWednesday off, work out Thursday, not Friday, yes Saturday, and not on Sunday. Given that, I will have to run all of those days to make a decent showing in a 5K with only 2 months to train. Waiting on payday to get some running shoes. I have REALLY high arches and wide feet so New Balance tend to work best for me.

Eating decent, not great. Need to get some healthy snacks at the office. My bosses have just started on WW, so there will at least be apples in the office. I need to take in some eggs and graham crackers. I will go to the grocery store this weekend, so I can get the snacks.

I am drinking between 80 and 120 oz of water per day. (100 today) With my bosses starting WW they have a bet going that the first one to lose 10% of their body weight, gets $100 from the other. I am trying to decide if I need to get in on that. Thing is, they are big guys. I would imagine 10% would be between 20 and 30 lbs for both of them. I would only need to lose 14, but it is towards the end of my weight lose and the very beginning of theirs. I think they will drop quite a bit rather quickly if they stick to it.

Must go to bed so that I can work out in the morning!

still working on it. haven't had nearly as many drinks this week, even though my period came and went. the kids are being really good, so I am not stressing as much. Right now, life is grand. I have a great man, 4 beautiful children, a good job that I like, a nice home and good friends. I will be even happier if I loose this weight! I would like to drop about 20 more pounds. Well, payday got here, so I will go buy my running shoes now and start that venture on Monday. I am so excited. I can't wait to get going on that!

Hidee ho Katy.

Wow, running will be so great esp when you have a goal like that race. EXCELLENT. Boy, shoes really are expensive arn't they? It seems like you are really into it though. I really find that if I exercise I really eat better. Not lately as you will note from my last entry. Oh well, I am here today and answering posts and tracking my food, etc...... I think its good too that you appreciate what you have. (family, home, kids)

In terms of snacks, I like Wasa crakers with light laughing cow spreadable chesse and a fresh tomato sliced on top. It really hits the spot and is healthy. The Wasa is high fiber too!!!! I will let you know of others as I think of them. Side dishes are always hard for me because my family like potatos and starchy dishes. I am trying to make more brown rice kind of things with stir fry veggies but I am alone eating then. Ha Ha

Good luck tommorrow running. I will be biking/hiking! I'll think of ya! Good luck! :jump: Karen

glad to see you back- Looks like running will have to wait until Tuesday morning, cause I didn't make it to the sporting goods store today. Well, I guess I could maybe run tomorrow night. Yeah, that's what I'll do! And I'll do the weight training in the morning. I better go to bed if I'm gonna do it though!

Here's to staying on TRACK this time-
