Just a little bit more to go ...

Hi Kara - I really enjoy your posts. You seem to be very knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition. Just wanted to pass on that I tried IF a few years ago and actually enjoyed the plan. I was slowly losing weight but like countless other plans I reverted back to my old habits. I hope it works well for you.

Hi Sally. Thanks so much! :)

I am really enjoying the IF plan. I don't see it as something that I'll do for the rest of my life, but for right now it really fits in with my life and has given me a boost in being more aware of my eating.

I suspect I'll continue with some form of IF going forward, but I don't know if I'll be as strict with it as I am now. We'll see. :)

So far progress is good. I'm down 1.8 lbs for last week - which is right on target for me. I haven't gone to bed hungry all week, which helps a lot - no more nighttime snacking back up to my maintenance calories. All in all a very positive week.

Well I was just coming back to respond. :)

One of the blogs I follow is . He's very much into the whole Primal Eating thing, which I just don't buy into (not that it's not healthy, but that it's the only way), but he's also posted a lot of really solid information on IF and incorporating it in a healthy and sustainable way.

Like I said, I don't know if it's something I'll continue on with for the rest of my life, but right now it's working well for me.

When I first started reading about it, I thought I might give it a try, but then I decided that it probably wouldn't be good for me right now. I like to try and avoid spikes in my sugar levels and I think this might be counter-productive.

I hope it continues to work for you though!

Weight as of this morning: 174.4

I feel great. I don't think that IF is any magic bullet but I think switching up my eating schedule has forced me to think more about what I'm eating now - as opposed to the mindless munching I was doing in the evenings before.

It's been raining and gray outside - which I actually like because it's been cooler. I think I might run outside today if it stays overcast.

174 that's awesome, I wish I weighed that much, my lean body mass is 175...lol, i love it when it's overcast here in the summer, much easier to run outside without the 99% humidity and 100 degree temp. Good luck today and keep up the good work kara!

Just randomly - I really want another tattoo, but I don't know what I want or where.

I guess I should figure that out, huh?

I have thought about a tattoo, but I've decided I'm going to wait until I reach my goal weight so I don't put it somewhere that's going to get all loose skinny and flabby :)

Well I got my first one after I lost 50 lbs. Its on my neck behind my right ear - so I'm hoping that won't ever get flabby. If it does, I think I might be in trouble. ;)

I think my next one will either be on my wrist or on my left foot - I haven't decided which yet, and I'm still trying to decide between several different designs. The problem is that there's a lot that I like and that would have meaning for me, but I only have so much body space. Heh. Or at least discreet body space. :D

OH I see it's gone .. yeah, the comment was something about "you have plenty of space on your body if you weigh 174". He/she/it posted in another person's journal something like "you're a fat coward". Obvious trolling ...

I'm up .6 today - I think it's because I was lifting weights pretty hard yesterday. Fluid retention and all that.

Last night I made stuffed zucchini:

1/2 lb lean ground beef (but you could use ground turkey if you wanted)
1 med onion
1/2 tbsp olive oil
can of crushed tomatoes
red pepper flakes
garlic
mozzarella cheese.

Take 3 or 4 (depending on how big they are) zucchini and split them in half lengthwise. Use a melon baller or a grapefruit spoon (or just a regular spoon if that's all you have) to scoop them out and make a hollow. Prebake them in a 300 deg oven for about 15 mins.

While they're baking saute the meat, onion, garlic, etc. until done and then add the crushed tomatoes and pepper flakes and cook down until about 1/2 the liquid is gone. You can add anything else you want to the filling - I sometimes add chopped spinach or diced bell pepper - whatever veggies are in the bin. And you can leave out the pepper flakes if you want. I like the extra oomph.

Spoon the filling into the zucchini, top with a little mozzarella and/or parmesan cheese, and return to the oven to bake for another 15 mins or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

You can eliminate the cheese if you need to watch the fat content - although skim moz is pretty decent on fat content.

Mmm. Yeah, bell peppers are good too. Pretty much any veggie I can hollow out and stuff works for me. It's a nice self-contained meal. :)
