Hi to who ever wishes to read this
I feel like i hit an all time low yesterday and thankfully found this forum when searching online. I've been exercising regularly but feel now that i need to focus also on my food intake. I browsed the Fitness Tools section which was really interesting and took one of their tests. My fitness level is satisfactory but i need to keep an eye on my health and learn positive ways to cope with stress. My calorie intake should be 1434 to loose 2lbs per week, so as from today i will also be using this diary as a 'Food Diary' as i'm not sure if there is one on site - if there is i haven't found it yet. So my calorie intake so far has been :-

B/F :- Toast, Banana, Butter, Yakult = 374
Fluids :- Water, Peppermint Tea, Black Tea
L :- Ryvita, Tomato, Butter, 2 satsums's = 165
 
Hi Jude! What's your weight and what's your goal? It's good that you have the exercise part down. 1,434 seems really low unless you are already very small.



This site seems to give similar results to my phone app that I use to set my calories.

Good luck to you! Stick around here. There is a lot of good advice and lots of positive supportive people.
 
My height is 5ft 7in - weight 214lbs and my goal is 140lbs.
The 1434 was loosing 2lb per week - but i checked out the above link and i should consume 1735 and only loose 1 - 1 1/2lbs per week. So may be if i sort of fluctuated between these i should be ok.
 
Hey Jude! We are around the same weight! I'm going to be aiming for around 1500 a day :) Welcome to the forum and keep us updated how you get on!

Day 2
Did Zumba last night and seemingly for 50mins intense exercise roughly burnt off 600 cals.
Feeling pretty good to day and organised with my food.
B/F :- Mueslie (45g) = 161, 250mls S/S Milk = 122

Fluids :- Water, Peppermint Tea, Black Tea

L :- Potatoes (150g) = 113, Cauli (100g) = 29, White Sauce (100mls) = 86

D :- Turkey (125g) = 128, Rice (50g) = 71, 1/2 Jar Sauce = 140, 1/2 Can Tomatoes = 20, Onion =36, Red Pepper = 32, Sweet Potato (150g) = 154

Snacks :- Banana = 120, 2 x Satsuma = 40

Total = 1252
 
Day 3
Up early and out for a brisk walk with the dogs. Not got a lot on today :(.
B/F :- Mueslie (45g) = 161, 250mls S/S Milk = 122

L :- 5 Bean Chilli with Rice and Chips = 966

D :- 2 Egg Omelette with Mushrooms = 170, Low Fat Yogurt = 90

Snacks :-

Total = 1569

Doing 50mins of intense Kettle Bell this evening so looking for a few calories being used

Hello Jude, Welcome to the forum and congratulations on working towards a healthier life. :grouphug:

Let me play the devil's advocate here for a second; are you sure you are counting your calories correctly? For example, according to the package of rice in my house, 50 grams of rice are around 250 calories. I believe some of the numbers i see on your food diary are a bit too low.
I was under the impression that 1g of carbohydrates was around 4 calories. Now, i don't know what are the rules to this, when it doesn't apply or how accurate that is for processed carbohydrates.

I don't want to demotivate you or anything like that, I'm just concerned that you may not be eating the calories you think you are.

I suggest you take a look on that. Good luck and take care. :)

Hi Athala

Thanks for picking up on that but the chilli meal was eaten in a restaurant where the calorie value is written on the menu so i can only presume its correct.
As for everything else i either check the packet or jar or use a book titled A-Z of fat and calories.
 
Day 4

Kettle bell was great yesterday evening.

Not much happening to day so i'm hoping i don't start snacking through boredom.
B/F :- Toast (1slice) = 111, Banana = 120

L :-

D :-

Fluids :- usual Water, Tea
 
This is my diary so i can feel free to rant all i like

Why when i am bored do i turn to crap, to only feel like crap :puke:

I feel ( i know ) i'm stressed today rather than bored but bored sounds better but i cannot get my head into a good place.

I've already been out walking which does usually clear my head but it's not worked today.

If any one reads this rubbish do you have any tips on how to get back on track.
 
Rant all you like, it's a good way to get better!
I do horribly too when I am stressed or when I am not keeping busy.
What works for me is accepting that things does not have to be perfect to be fine, it is OK to have a bad day or a bad afternoon. Let it go and pick up where you left track.
The best I can do for myself is something good - just any little thing that will re-ignite my motivation. It could be going for a bikeride in the forest or focusing on the positive e.g. You got out there and did your walk or you did stick to your diet/started a exercise program or simply did 3 sets of sit ups. Tomorrow will be better!
 
Day 5
Had a horrible day yesterday and i know why. I work bank shifts and have not been to work for 5/6 weeks and was phoned yesterday to see if i could do a late shift today and Sun which i agreed too. It's a stressful job (working with elderly that suffer from dementia) and i just completely stressed out about it, i hardly slept last night as my brain just wouldn't shut down so this morning i am knackered before i even start my shift, although i've calmed downed and in a better frame of mind.
B/F :- Yakult = 50, Banana - 120

L :- 1 slice Toast = 111, 1/2 can beans = 137

D :- Turkey = 116, Salad Veg = 50, 1 Boiled Egg = 78, 1 tbsp (15g)salad cream = 50

Snacks :-

Fluids :- Water, Tea
 
Don't know what day i'm on now but hey ho it doesn't matter. Eating healthy although it being the weekend i have not been overly strict with myself. Will weigh tomorrow i think and see, fingers crossed and everything else, if there is a loss.
Feeling in a good place today even though i'm just heading off to work lets hope i can keep in this frame of mind - being happy feels good.
 
Weighed in this morning and 2lb down. Feeling really good about that as its the first sign of weight loss in yonks.

Morning
Been out for a walk and now going to potter in the garden as its a lovely morning here though looks like rain could be on its way.
Eating is going well though i haven't posted my menus for a couple of days.
B/F :- slice of granary toast with a banana and a cup of tea
