Journey to Knowing

Yay for a couch that you are happy with. Pity about the cats though :( & the shoes that make your toes go to sleep. I hope they weren't too expensive. I can't wear my hiking boots any more as they are obviously too narrow. I'll give them to G, who has no problems with his feet. Lucky man.

I can return the shoes. I'm not sure if I only can exchange or get a refund but it's fantastic that I have 30 days, in any condition, to return. The shoes I ended up with were men's and a size and a half larger than the others.

That's great you can return the shoes in any condition... I feel like you don't really get to see how shoes feel when you can't wear them outside or during your normal activities.

Cheers to a new couch!! That is second on my big purchase list (after a new fridge) we just moved and slowly changing out some old furniture is the goal. Do you have any scratching posts for the cats scattered around the couch? We have a couple of flat cardboard type scratching pads/boxes and sprinkle some catnip on them - it's helped refocus our cats attention away from furniture.

You definitely need sleep!!

The tall post scratcher arrived today but great idea about the cardboard. They understand where they are allowed to scratch and where they are not. It's a way to get attention.

My yard tools arrived today. I accidentally ordered a pole hedger instead of a normal hedger. I'll make it work. Haven't mowed in forever. These are electric so hoping no loud sounds.

I've been useless workwise today. That long awake time took it out of me. My executive functions is shut down lol.

Hoping my bookshelf will be done soon. Figure I'll call the guy at the end of April if I haven't heard from him. The books are the only things still in boxes.

Perfect kayak day but no energy.

Loving my couch!

We had to remove a plant on the mantel because the cat chews on it - ONLY when we're home sitting in the living room and ONLY to get attention...seems negative attention is as good as positive attention as far as he's concerned....CATS lol!

LOL just like two year olds.

My xmas cactus was starting to bloom I noticed yesterday. I overslept and was late w their breakfast and all the little blooms are now in their tummies. Blah! lol

the downside of electric motors is that rather than just stall as on a gas mower, they can burn out... especially on grass/ stuff that hasn't been "mowed in forever". ...take it slow and NEVER fiddle with it while still plugged in. betting your fingers on a switch Made in China is never a smart idea.

Thanks @overlandflyer . These are cordless and usa made. I paid a guy to mow last week so should be okay. He never did the hedges but yesterday I noticed some nests in the bushes so I'll manually do the bushes as not to scare the birds away and abandon the nests. My yard is postage size and mostly crab grass. If I weren't renting I would plant clover and other indigenous plants. But not my yard.

i guess e-mowers have advanced a lot... i used to have to deal with a power cord.

i have to laugh a bit at "Made in the USA". first off, i have nothing against China in general. i have a Marshall Amp (UK based company) made in China and the quality is just as good as if it were made anywhere else. Chinese manufacture gets a bad name from companies who do not manage their businesses closely. and, ok, a bit from its raw materials... some of their tools use a low quality iron, but again, that's up to the company. unfortunately some choose the econo-path.

but as to my original point, you also have to watch "Made in the USA" which can literally mean "Assembled in the USA with parts from anywhere in the world".

Finally made a green smoothie. I read 4 leaves of kale as 4 cups so I have a lot but it's a great supper. Hoping to make this a daily thing.

Determined to get over my fears and schedule the first group hike. I've decided to have a sign in sheet and everyone must sign out or else I'll be doing the hike twice finding the person who didn't check in. Not sure how this will work. If you have suggestions, let me know. I want to keep it as unstructured as possible. A group in the city is like a prison camp w group leaders at front, middle, and back. I'll keep at the back and let everyone set their own pace. Also backs me out of several layers of liability.

Got on the trail today. New shoes covered and calves covered in mud. Once again I did not take my poles. Stupid. But absolutely beautiful hike. And I discovered my sun hat I wore in my convertible is really too small. It worked with the top down so it didn't fly away....but not just every day wear.

My zero drop shoes wore really well. I wish I had known about zero drop a decade ago. The Altras are good shoes so far.

Peri has an early vet appointment so no workout tomorrow. Haircut Thursday. The stylist cancelled Friday. I have meetings in another week so must have a haircut good or bad.

I'm rolling my upholstered furniture every night. No idea why I have never done this before.

I clipped the bushes on Wednesday. Totally sacked my energy and my arms are still shaking. Didn't feel like I did much. Today i mowed most of my lawn. Still need to weed whack the edges and i didn't finish the side yard but it all looks better. And it beats $40 every two weeks for 20 minutes of work with the big equipment. Takes me about 2 hours.

Tomorrow is a baby shower girls day out....food, pedi, shopping, Disney on ice. Gotta drive to the city in the morning. Sunday I will sleep.

It's great exercise. Well done!
