Journey, Not A Destination

i was like him once, soon or later we all realize that we shouldn't do that. All the extra mass, muscles later on will turn into a fat, that's if you will stop your trainings. ;)

What are you talking about?

Hey everyone...

Today has been a good day so far. I woke up early and spent a good bit of time deciding how I want to pack my hiking pack. It's harder than it sounds. Trips like this require a ton of gear and fitting it comfortably and conveniently can be quite the challenge.

I think I have things worked out for the most part in that regard.

My body has been feeling pretty banged up, most likely from the combination of a ton of training plus not feeling all that great.

I decided to bump off the intensity today and do volume. So with my pack all situated, I threw on my back and went for a 3 hour hike. It's so nice being able to hike for hours without having to drive anywhere. I just walked out my door and kept walking and walking.

I followed a trail I haven't been on yet that involved a lot of hills. It was a very nice trail. I was hoping to follow it further but much to my surprise the trail crosses a stream. Problem is there's no bridge to cross. I almost crossed it without a bridge but I didn't want wet feet to lead to blisters which could screw me come next week.

All in all I felt pretty good. I think I'm going to do a ton of restorative stuff this weekend; flexibility/mobility, baths, massage, etc.

The clock is ticking down now and I'm getting really excited.

Happy Vday for those of you who celebrate it.

I don't.

well for valentines day...being a singleton LOL i danced about to cheesy love songs in my living room (very bridget jones...) does that count as cardio??!
:newangel:

Well you are the one who is trying to gain weight for your muscles right ? So i bet you have tried protein for faster gains? Or you have not ? I cant be bothered to read all thread to find it out. :p

Tried protein?

lol

In my life I've never met anyone who doesn't eat protein in some form or fashion.

Are you saying you don't eat protein?

And no, right now I am not bulking. I'm training for mountaineering. However, if you're suggesting that muscle turns to fat, I think you better pick up a physiology text.

Yes obviously we all eat protein in daily basis, from a daily products. But in this particular case i am sure you know where i was coming from.

I meant protein powder, ppl usually buy it to build up their body mass in faster ways etc.,i am sure you know better than i do.

No comment on that!

If people are buying protein powder to speed up their muscle building, they are misguided. How would protein in powder form increase the rate of hypertrophy in skeletal muscle?

I use protein powder to supplement my protein intake, sure. But I do so to meet my protein needs. I don't eat it due to some false assumption that it magically increases my muscle mass.

No comment on that!

You didn't say you were like me at once and muscle turns to fat in your first post up there?

My god.

I do believe I've found my nemesis.

Everything from the outfit to the hole in the crotch is priceless.

Hey everyone, I recently blogged about our upcoming mountaineering trip and posted a link for anyone interested in contributing to the MS society. I know now's not the best time to be hitting people up for donations, so certainly don't feel obligated.

But every dollar counts.

Thanks!

For those who are unaware, this is the week of my mountaineering trip up in New Hampshire.

Right now I'm a huge mixture of excitement and nerves. I'll be extremely happy when I have my pack completely situated and packed so the only left to do is drive up and hit it hard.

Packing for something like this sucks. Forgetting something can be fatal, believe it or not. I have more lists than I know what to do with and I think I have everything I need sprawled out in one room in my house.

Now it's just a matter of putting it all together into a manageable, efficient pack.

You'll be able to track our progress via google maps if you're interested. Once we're up there I'll turn the satellite on and it will ping the map at specific intervals. The link to it is here:

Incase i cant get on here later, enjoy your trip. It should be a blast.
