Journey, Not A Destination

Why not invent your own line! I'd by a roller from ya. hehe

Nice looking workouts there.

Gee, you really know how to make a man sound like a gigantic nerd.

But Steve, we love it when you talk Nerdy to us. :reddevil:

But didn't you know that those are the sexiest kind of guys on the planet, Steve? Brains are HOT, HOT, HOT!!!!

What woman wants to hang with a moron while wearing a shirt that says: :iamwithstupid: That reminds me of South Park ...

Amen, sistah! I was in a relationship with a guy for about a year who was dumb as a box of lint. I don't know what the hell I was thinking. Maybe my brain needed to take a break or something. That was a low point in my life, what can I say?

Smart/Intelligent men are sexy as hell. I'm not just talking 'book smart'... men who are good at figuring out things in non-conventional ways... like inventors... or a man who figure out how to make something that suits his needs because he can't find it in a store... oh man. :svengo: (my husband is one of those types that will make his own tools if he can't find what he's looking for. I find that incredibly hot!)

I bought a cheap foam roller from a local sporting good store and after a few months of use, it looked like an elephant trampled it. It was permenantly smashed.

Depending on the person and their level of tension in the various tissues, varying degrees of firmness/softenss should be applied.

Since I devote a decent amount of time to using a foam roller, it was time to graduate to something with a little more firmness, hence the pvc piping.

Plus, I felt cool making my own.

See my statement above. That's so HOT!

Hey Steve, did you catch this?

Oh, and I went to the grand opening of my friend's brother's gym last night. Looks like it will be more focused on sports rehab. Makes sense because he is a chiropractor and physical therapist. Decent equipment, but no freestanding squat rack unfortunately. There were a few different apparatuses that you could do squats on, but they were all 'assisted'. Still, decent selection of free weights as well as machines, and the basic membership is going to be insanely cheap. On the downside it doesn't have other things I'm wanting in a gym, like yoga classes, a sauna (so I can get WARM for a change!) and I don't know... I'm still leaning toward the rock gym. Plus the hours are going to be limited for now, and once I'm back to work full time I won't be able to get there when its open. Understandable since they're just starting out. Still, it would be an ideal place for my husband to go since its really close to our house and he doesn't have the insane workout drive. Yet.

I had the opportunity to talk to a couple personal trainers while I was there last night too, picked their brains a bit about getting the certification, that type of thing. One of them recommended the ACE certification... is that one reputable?

Haha, you women really know how to mess up a manly tool.

Actually it's the man behind the manly tool that women are pretty good at messing up - at least the common sense part... otherwise it's usually the manly tool that does the - -ummm - messing :D

Sorry couldn't resist.. :D

:p

I do my best :D

Awesome. Exciting stuff, isn't it?

After flipping through both books, I just got all gooey inside. I actually get quite excited about learning new stuff :)

OK. I'll admit it. I'm a geek :biggrinjester:

Supertraining isn't an applicable book IMO. It's just to intense with information and way overboard in terms of what most any trainees need to know.

That said, what it is for me is a tool I use to establish my foundation to critically assess most all other information out there.

And most books I read, I only need to read once and I understand most everything. Not the case with Supertraining. I continually find myself going back to better understand a particular nuance. It's the most referenced strength training book I've ever seen, meaning most articles you see that are worth reading relating to strength training reference Supertraining.

As long as it provides me with endless pleasure, it will be worth it ;)

Although I was a little ticked that UPS had to deliver my package COD -- the damned border Nazis in Canada stuck me with a $45 brokerage fee. Bastards ... :banghead:

But I wanted the books so badly, I wrote the cheque out to the delivery guy and didn't even blink twice ;)

Talk about tunnel vision :D

I didn't. I'm behind like crazy in journals. But huge congrats!!! That's badass! You must be stoked.

I'm telling you, that rock climbing gym is where it's at. That place is sweet. I'm sure it's much more expensive though. And I'm not one to talk since I'll be training in my shed before long, lol!

Not as reputable as some of the others, but it's a fine stepping stone. If I were looking for a stepping stone though, I'd go with NASM. Whatever you choose, you have all the access you need to a personal trainer for help right here!

I knew I could count on you.

Haha, you and I would bond well.

I'd do the same exact thing. I get so damn excited when I have a new book.

Ok so the game sucked bigtime - at least from my perspective... my beloved Giants just failed to show up... But - Good Job on the Eagles win!! Hope they do go all the way and represent the NC east proudly :)

It was a pretty ugly game all the way around I'd say. Eagles are going to have to step up a bit to have a chance against Arizona. But I think they have a tendency to play to the other teams level of intensity or ability.

Time will tell!

I'm great, thanks. Probably feeling a bit better than you since I'm not lugging around a human inside my belly! :p

Hope all is well with you, Kimberly. Thanks for stopping in.

Weekend entailed some brutal training. My partner and I did some hill sprints followed by high rep step-ups and some moderate steady state activity. This was done in the cold and snow.

Don't get much more specific than that in relation to mountaineering, lol.

I figured I need to get new batteries for my scale this week. I haven't weighed myself in over 3 months and I'm starting to get curious. I seem to be leaning out which makes sense since I'm eating slightly less food at the moment and my energy expenditure has gone up quite a bit.

Good work! :hurray: Brrrrrr! Hmm, 3 months, eh? A little different than a lot of us on here ;)

Uh.....was he hot?

He was cute. Tall, thin, high cheek bones, big melting brown eyes. And he was broken. I had a serious problem with wanting to 'fix' people for a long time, and I'd get into these relationships with train wrecks. Much to my misfortune (and nobody to blame buy myself for that). Sadly, he was also dumb as a brick, or box of lint.
