stretchmarks

I don't feel myself bulking up at all, but somehow I still get red stretchmarks running from my shoulders to my arms...I actually stopped working out for a period but somehow that made them get worse...how to fix these?

Stretch marks are basically scars and like scars, never entirely go away, but they do fade. They're a weightlifter's badge of courage

dude i have them all over my arse, thighs, upper calfs, inner arms, shoulders, all over my back. I had them even when i was skinny but now since i have bulked up its like god punished me even more and dident want me to gain any self confidence and replaced my skinniness with a insane amount of stretch marks :( i feel your pain

i just don't know what to do...no matter how slowly I work out they keep coming...and I got pretty dark skin so they're really noticable...

If there really bad...like mine you can try some type of oil or creams. I use bio oil and it does work but to tell the truth its not worth it in terms of how long it takes and the difference it makes. It also doesent stop them from forming at all. i live in australia so once i have finaly stoped growing and they slow down which i pray to god they do other wise at this rate im going to be a giant stretch mark., im going to say that its a mental issue and the government will cover it for me and pay for the laser surgery which is expensive as hell.

If your stretch marks are fresh, they will be colored. ie. red/purple

They might be existing marks that are stretching some more.

I've had stretch marks since high school. I got 'em at the shoulders, waist, inner thigh and more places I'm sure :p

I have read in many places that stretch marks are directly affected by hormones. They usually arise early on in youth (high hormonal activity during youth) or when the body changes (pregnancy, bodybuilding, growth, etc.) When the body changes this way, hormones can become hectic and this is the result. A lot of people misconceive this with getting big too fast but it is not the case...it is hormones, hormones play a big role in the development of the body and this is why people confuse the actual reasons.

No cream will work. Laser surgery has shown only improvements but nothing has been found to make them go away completely. Over time they will fade. Don't let them get to you...they are part of who you are...don't be shy about them...just learn to live with them. I'm sure there is some kind of surgery you can have to actually remove this skin or whatnot...but it is sure as hell not worth it.

I'm no stretch mark expert, but have read a lot on this subject since I am afflicted with these...the best thing I can say is see your doctor and ask him what you can do to prevent these...that's what I did and he told me there isn't much you can do...but give it a shot...you never know if one of them has finaly found out an answer.

:D

Keep working out man, don't let puny stretch marks get in your way! :D

Stretch marks are a result of rapid stretching of the skin, and depending on how elastic your skin is will depend on if you get them or not. There is not much you can do in the way of preventing stretch marks, it mainly depends on the elasticity of your skin (genetics). However, you can help by keeping your skin more elastic by using creams or oils. How much it helps (if at all) can vary.

It is said a daily application of a cream (Trofolastin) containing Centella asiatica extract, vitamin E, and collagen-elastin hydrolysates was associated with fewer stretch marks during pregnancy. Another study, examined a cream (Verum) containing vitamin E, panthenol, hyaluronic acid, elastin and menthol. It was associated with fewer stretch marks during pregnancy versus no treatment.

But honestly I believe it boils down to genes.

Personally you really shouldn't worry about it. It will happen regardless as you grow. So, don't let it stop you from working out......

haha don't worry I won't stop working out...they only get worse when I do that anyway and since I already have them might as well have the muscles that go with them right?

It just is scary sometimes because they can get bright red for a few hours after a routine...it isn't possible to get infections through them or something is it?

they'll fade in time. don't sweat it!
