Journey, Not A Destination

Quote and Randomness

From a bodybuilder...

"Those moments are fleeting… They are few and far between. But shit, we’re all human. Sometimes, it is completely unavoidable. On occasion we must ask ourselves, “Why?” “Why do I do this to myself?” “Why fucking bother?” It is not normal or natural or openly accepted to strive to be more. That sentiment is universally applicable. Being exceptional, or extraordinary (just look at the construction of that word: extra-ordinary) takes sacrifice and has consequences and sometimes seems like more fucking trouble than it is worth. Somedays, I’ll lay in bed barely able to breathe from practically force-feeding myself… Other times, the alarm clock will be screaming incessantly as I lay motionless, drained and aching from another extreme workout. When I’m driving to work, after staying up most of the night doing a little extra, paying my dues working on a personal project after working all day instead of just laying on the couch with my hand on the joystick. These are the times I ask myself “Why, G? What is the point?” The point is that there is only one life that we are each blessed with, once chance to push your chips to the center of the table and beat the fucking house. You either take down the mark or you are one yourself. I haven’t the energy or the inclination to pity myself in moments when I feel the effects of being a mortal making a swipe for immortality. I will only allow those feelings for those who waste their gifts or for those too blind to see the potential that comes with each new day."

Thank the sweet lord this week is coming to an end. It looks like the stock markets are going to get murdered again today. This is getting pretty crazy now. I can tolerate volatility. I can even tolerate big drops. But days and days on end... this is getting nuts.

This weekend is nice b/c I have absolutely zero obligations, unless you count working with Gordy... which is playtime in and of itself, lol.

Phillies won last night thanks to one big inning... that was nice. They play again this afternoon at 4:30 so while I'm working with Gord, we'll be watching the game.

Panic seemed to be the headline of the day...

though cooler heads are saying if you're looking at investing 5 years ahead... the market is the place to be.. it's going to go up...

But are we looking at Black Monday 1987 - the sequel in 2008?

sigh...

Oh I agree with that... stock market is the place to be. If I didn't have so much cash tied up in this house, I'd be piling the money into the market right now.

But the fact remains that people who have been in the market, especially near retired or retired folks... they're down a shit load of money and that's the angle that I'm concerned about.

WOW, that was intense :hurray:

Hope you have fun filming :)

My contribution for your quote database

Most of us live our whole lives…without any real adventure to call our own.

What is any life without the pursuit of a dream?”

From the movie Vanilla Sky - a godawful movie butthe quote reminded me of you :)

Thanks Mal... I remember that movie. Not the greatest but love the quote.

Man, I just don't have the time to post this week. It's so unbelievably crazy in the office I don't have words to describe it.

It was a good weekend.

Friday Gord came down here to edit videos. We actually ended up going into my gym to shoot some videos on the cables and whatnot, since we don't have access to them in Gord's home gym.

We shot a couple of cool clips that we combined into a bigger clip that we'll post on the blog in a few days. Mostly Gordy doing cool stuff like muscle ups, plyo pullups, sloppy pistol squats, etc. I think I'm in there almost getting crushed benching 315... man have I gotten weak over the past couple of months! Oh yea, I think he also added me trying to do a pullup with Krista hanging from me, lol. I failed.

We did get a lot of work done between Friday and Saturday.

Oh yea, and I got a new interview for the blog. With Tom Venuto... author of Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle. I'm real excited about that.

Eagles won yesterday. Cowboys and Redskins lost. What did NY do?

Phillies lost :(

NY is playing tonite -cleveland...

it's always a good weekend whe the cowpies lose :D

So you're doing wife pullups now?

hmm -the wife carrying contest was this past weekend - wereyou guys doing your versio of it?

Oh, that's right... NY has monday night. I hope they lose, sorry. :)

No, I tried to do A wife pullup.

It did not happen.

Are you booing my desire for the giants to lose?

Or my inability to do a pullup with krista hanging from me?

I would never ever boo a woman hanging from you :D

Didn't you use to do pullups with a 100lb dumbbell? krista can't weigh much more than that - I'd say youo were just distracted by the beautiful woman :D Or maybe it's that you do better with a dumbbell and not a smart woman :D

Your desire to have my beloved giants lose however, is earning yo a boooooo :D

Yea, I could get 100 lbs. I think I still could, although I'm significantly weaker at the moment. As I said, in the vid I bench 315 and I barely get it. A few months back I was able to rep this out for a few.

Krista is 130 lbs. Those 30 extra lbs made a difference! I got about a quarter of the way up. You will see. :)

I can live with it.
