Journey, Not A Destination

He's as good as can be I suppose. He didn't look so good but he's barely eating or sleeping and he's been in there since Sunday night. He had an enlarged prostate that they operated on a month or so ago. Long story shirt, he had a catheter put in and taken out over and over since. Every time they took it out, he either couldn't pee or he had blood in his urine. Then he started taking asprin on the Doc's orders and it thinned his blood and made the bleeding worse! So tomorrow they remove the catheter one more time and if he's still bleeding, he'll have surgery tomorrow.

I know the doc doesn't want to b/c he's an old guy which always increases the risks a lot.

So thanks for the well wishes!

Hey we finally have something in common! I have a MAC. My hubby got it for the family, but mostly it's "mine". I love it. It took a little getting used to, but for the most part it is very user friendly. I haven't had a problem with it and we've had it for about 2 yrs now. No blue screens of death! One thing that dh did do is section off part of it to run windows. So if the kiddos have some pc game they want to play, they can. Also, dh had a problem with it at first, but only because he was/is such a pc guy (computer geek.) He was doing things to make it harder to use until I showed him the way. :D

For surfing, I use Mozilla FireFox. I like it better than Safari. The kids use Safari, without complaint though.

Oh, and I just wanted to say, hope everything works out well for your grandpa.

I've been thinking about partitioning part of my HD to run windows too. I'm afraid to 'infect' my pure mac with windows but supposedly it handles it very well. I have a program I use daily that isn't compatible with the mac, so I'm still using my other laptop and PC quite often.

And thanks for the well wishes!

how's grandpa doing today? any change in his condition?

Have yourself a fantastic friday... and hope you get some rest in this weekend

Pop-pop (that's what I call him) is good. He ended up not having to have surgery and they let him go home. However, I heard late last night he started bleeding again. I know he's pissed off as all hell. I talked to him before he started bleeding and he said, "I wish they'd just cut me the fuck open. Why leave me laying in a hospital bed for a week to see if I stop bleeding. Go in there and fix the damn problem!"

Hahaha, needless to say it's getting grouchy.

But I understand why they're not rushing to cut him open... being the age he is.

We'll see where things go from here.

This weekend will be pretty busy. Today Gordy is coming to my house. He keeps texting me saying he'll be here at 2 even though I keep telling him I'm working till 4. He can be such a jackass... knowing him he'll show up to my office wearing some kind of weird suit, lol.

We're editing some exercise clips this afternoon, working on a few forms, then going out to dinner with some friends.

Tomorrow, besides working out, I plan on doing work all day long. The boring stuff too... financial work. I've really let some stuff go too long and it's turning into a stress in my life. I feel like I have a heavy weight on my shoulders.

Then Sunday I'm going to Gords. We have a meeting at the bank and we're filming all day, supposedly. So not much down time.

Last night flyers game reallllllllly pissed me off.

my grandpa we called pop pop :) hearing someone else use that term brought a smile to my face :) thanks.. :D

How old is he?

Have fun with Gordy :D

Good to hear Pop Pop is out of the hospital! Sounds like he's an adorable grumpy old man. I love grumpy old men. :D Is he single? I could fix him up with my grumpy old grandma. :D She's 8yrs older than he, though. Does he have a thing for older women? :smilielol5:

Steve, I need your sage advice. :) In 3 weeks I'm going to be a 24hr walker for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life here. This involves walking around the local middle school track (where it takes place) for 18hrs during a 24hr period. Starts at 3pm Fri and ends 3pm Sat. My question is, what kind of food/beverage do you recommend I eat drink in order to keep my energy up and stay hydrated? I'm thinking about walking 2hrs, then taking 30min breaks and repeating.

I don't think you have to worry too much. If you were truly exerting yourself you could screw around with manipulating carbs to the point where come 'race time' you'd have the highest amount of glycogen in your muscles. But since you're just walking, I thinking eating adequate carbs the day before the event and making sure you eat a balanced mix of carbs and protein during the day will leave you just fine. Not saying you won't get tired... that's a lot of damn walking... but that's what I'd do.

What about drinking? Should I just stick to water? Or should I drink something like Gatorade as well? I figure by the end of it I'll be shuffling along deliriously like the old man Tim Conway used to play on the Carol Burnett Show. Am I showing my age by the reference?? :D

I did a 65 mile over 3 days in chicago in august -and passed onthe gatorade each time.. it's reallynot necessary... unless you'll be sweating profusely -but this time of year -eh not so much... some snacks that have some saltin them (salted almonds, pretzels, or granola bars) will suffice for salt replacement -and water will see you thru.. Gatorade is just nasty stuff Propel is a little lighter but the sugar substitute in it has been known to give some people the poops... ;D and porta potties aren't the most pleasant things in the world..

Yea, I'm with Mal really. Gatorade isn't necessary but if you want it, go right ahead.

Oh, no--I'd much rather drink water. I'm with Mal on the porta potties. :ack2: Luckily this is at a middle school, so I can go use the school's toilets--which aren't that much better, actually. :p

I don't know if I'll be sweating profusely or not. In mid-May the temps can vary wildly. It could be 85 or 55.

Hey Steve, are you watch the 76ers/Pistons playoffs? GOOOOOOOOOO Pistons!! Except they're behind. :cuss:

I'm half-assed watching the sixers... though I'm rooting for them. I'm paying much more attention to the Flyers right now. They're in the second round of the playoffs, playing game 2 right now. They should have won game one but they got robbed!

And I JUST FOUND OUT I GOT TICKETS TO MONDAY'S GAME!!!!! Going down with some buddies... very excited!

Oh that is awsome you got tickets! I went to a Red Wings playoff game a few years back. Had a blast. The Red Wings just killed the Avalanche tonight--5-1 and are now also up by 2. hhaha I hate the Avalanche--too much bad blood between them and the RWs.

Yea, I saw the redwings kicked ass.

This will actually be my second playoff game I go to this year. I went to a game in round 1 that went into double overtime and Flyers won. That was a blast... went with the wife. This time I'm going with some buddies.

And the Pistons came back in the 2nd half to beat the 76ers. :D

That's fun. Does your wife get into the hockey? If I lived closer to Detroit, I'm sure I'd go to more games. But it's a 2.5hr drive.

Tied it up.... I've got a feeling the sixers are going to lose.

She does... she's so jealous that I get to go to the game tonight, lol.

I'm only about 45 minutes outside Philly. However, it will take me over 2 hours to get there tonight due to traffic and rain.
