Thanks Beth, glad you enjoyed them.

I'm certainly going back sometime. I have a few places I want to visit first, but I could see Hawaii turning into an annual trip, or every other year at least.

I just loved it there.

yo steve!!! hows it goin? just wanted to say thanks again man... im still on it and weighed in at 255 yesterday. thats 71 lbs so far!

I wanted to ask you what you thought bout beta-alanine

im currently supplementing with
omega 3's
fiber (not getting a lot in my diet)
Whey

my goals in order of preference
Weight loss
Endurance
Functional strength
Muscle retention

as my schedule frees up im going to be getting back into brazillian jiujitsu and endurance is a big requirment. so i've focused a lot on cardio, HIIT and steady state, with intervals taking up most of it.

im still on the same weight lifting split 3 times a week with cardio 3 times also.
cardio days are up to 2.5 hours... giving out slightly to fatigue, but mostly because im starving :)

thanks for your help!

Wow man, awesome job! That's fantastic.

Honestly, I don't have much of an opinion. I've never used it. I know a few people who have, and with mixed results. The one's that did experience results seemed placebo to me.... but who knows. It's not expensive so it may be worth a try.... see if it helps you at all.

Is your strength improving still? If it is, that's pretty much all neural adaptations to the stress of strength training. Eventually, they'll slow. Gaining muscle OR strength shouldn't be expected while dieting.

Certain circumstances, a new/er person to proper strength training, will certainly elicit strength gains even while dieting. How long will they last? Who knows.

Very cool.

I'd think there'd be more that goes into training for brazillian jiujitsu.... but I can't say for sure since I've never trained someone involved with it.

I'd think training for speed and power would be critical, no? Above and beyond absolute strength and cardiovascular conditioning.

The rule of training specificity always exists.

Damn man, that's a ton of cardio!

How long does a brizillian jiujitsu match last?

Quotes of the Day

Take your life in your own hands and what happens? A terrible thing - no one to blame.

I posted this one for me....

I've got about 10 big things that I really need to get done. Some are actually life altering. And I'm having a problem with accountability at the moment.

It seems that when I get this much *stuff* lined up... I freeze. Instead of picking one thing to work on, I sit and stare at all the *stuff* that sits in front of me.

Better yet, my stress levels build.

Isn't it odd? If I just started plucking away at the *stuff* one by one, I bet my stress would diminish signifantly.

Yet, here I sit.

Do not confuse motion and progress. A rocking horse keeps moving but does not make any progress.

Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there.

Nice quotes... :)

Sounds like you've got a serious case of vacationitis - it's curable by the upcoming weekend and you get to relax...

Either that or the time away from work has put into reality that what you're currently doing isn't what you want to be doing with your life - but you know that - I know thanks for stating the obvious mal :D

Step away from the internet and pick one project and spend an hour on it... then come back for 10 minutes... repeat til 5:00pm

You now, I just did start one project and spent a good 45 minutes on it and I feel better.

Some of the things are very grand though. One of them being my website that we discussed. Some grander than that. And I just can't find the time and/or motivation.

I'm like a deer in headlights at the moment.

I know I'll be fine... I just need to get my mind right.

Gosh, Steve, I can so relate to this....for me, part of it is that I get overwhelmed and can't even figure out what to tackle first...(happens to me at work) and as far as the personal stuff, I think fear creeps in...what if I fail at this? I put it off...thinking I will feel braver later...and when I finally "just do it"...I want to kick myself for putting it off. And yes, the mounting stress from procrastinating makes it so much harder and just fills my brain with needless worry.

I hope you can tackle some of your "to-do's" today....have a great day!

I seem to recall that you tend to disagree with my this too shall pass mindset - but sometimes - what your feeling right now will pass... you've just gotten married, that's a pretty major life event -- a bit of a roller coaster at times (from what I hear) things will settle down... and your motivation will come back...

Exactly, and thanks Beth!

Yea, it will pass once I start getting shit done, LOL. That's the way I look at it at least.

I usually try and keep one very big *obstacle* in the pipeline for conquering along side a bunch of other small things.

When I get 5-6 mountains to climb... I freeze up.

I've been here before though and things have turned out.... so.... i'm not all that worried.... more stressed than anything.

/me teleports to steve's office, gives a really good stress relieving back and shoulder rub...

ooooh shoulders...

/me wipes up the drool :)

/me teleports back to chicago...

Thanks Mal.

I think I simply need to find a way to dislocate my hip and kick myself in the ass as hard as I possibly can.
