Journey, Not A Destination

Quote of the Day

Most people achieved their greatest success one step beyond what looked like their greatest failure.

So much of our time is preparation, so much is routine, and so much retrospect, that the path of each man's genius contracts itself to a very few hours.

Spectacular achievements are always preceded by unspectacular preparation.

RANDOM THOUGHT OF THE DAY:

Is it just me or is there a lot of new members floating around here. This community is really growing. :)

Hey Steve,
Thought i'd drop by and say hi, and see how your goals are comin along. Thanks again for all your help aside from my good work ethic and dedication, i owe a lot to you.

You are welcome and thank you.

Which brings me to a question. I've been losing significantly, and im gettin saggy skin. Ive been thinking about switching to a mass gaining program for a while to add some muscle, and hopefully give my skin some time to catch up. I have about 2 hours to train in the morning, every morning. and an hour in the evening to train about 2 times a week. I wanted to get your opinion and hopefully a starting point. Of course minimal fat gain is preffered.

What is your current weight?

Unfortunately, saggy skin is part of the "game" when you lose a lot of weight. You have to hope it tightens up. How old are you?

If you still have a good bit of fat to lose, I don't think "bulking" is the answer. With bulking, you are undoubtedly going to add fat. There is no way around it. And for each of us it's different. For me, when I bump my cals up, I'm lucky: Very little of my weight gain comes in the form of fat. At least not for months.

For others, and probably you if you've battled fat, you can have a lower ratio of muscle to fat during a bulk.

That said, if I were you, I'd keep dieting depending on your current weight. Also, how fast have you been losing weight. I apologize. I stopped following people's journals.... just too many questions to get to in a day, doesn't allow me enough time to follow everyone.

Unfortunately, skin does not tighten up at the same rate of fat loss, even if you are losing fat in a sane manner.

Put it this way. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't start a bulk program. And I would keep losing the fat. At your weight, there is still a lot to lose. And part of the process is having stretched out skin. That is one of the reasons why losing weight nice and slow is advantageous.

At your age, luckily, you have more elasticity in your skin than your elder counterpart. Genetics play a role too.
