this poor diary is suffering from neglect...

**slaps steve's diary on the rearend**

Ooh that was fun :D

Hope you're having a delightful day

Wow, I really did neglect this journal today! I was around a lot actually, made quite a few big posts. Just never got around to stopping in here!

Thanks for keeping the place warm!!!! :)

Hey Steve, I posted my boring workout to you a little while ago for some ideas on how to change it but I think you got busy and missed it. I'll have to dig it out for you..oh great huh? :jump:

I was at the gym today and I was again having such major problems with my knees when I was doing lunges with 20 lb DB. I wanted to do so so much more free weight exercises like squats but my knees just are so weak for some reason. Only sports or exercise I've ever really participated in to any great extent is bike riding (I used to do about 25 miles a day years ago for several years but that is so low impact) and weights. Obviously after 13 years in the gym I **believe** I know how to properly squat and lunge. Trainers have always commented on my good form. Any ideas on what I can do about this or why I'm having problems? The leg machines never really seem to do much as compared to free weight leg exercises but they dont seem to bother my knees.

Anyway, I'll find my workout and get back in touch. Hope you have a lovely evening :).

Sorry I missed that! Hopefully you find it so I can take a look. Sorry if you have to retype it. Did you post it in my journal? I try to stay pretty good with replying to everyone that stops by.

So your knees hurt while you are doing lower body exercises? Describe the pain. What it feels like and where exactly it is.

LOL Sorry. I know you're trying to be helpful to Blancita, but when I read that, it really made me laugh. Well...it hurts here. And here. Oh, and over here! LOL K, I'll behave.:rotflmao:

Steve, its a couple of pages back; I'll locate shortly . Smile.

The knees just crap out (I dont normally use that expression but its the only way I can describe it); one or the other will just feel weak for a second and will sort of cave and hurt a bit as it sort of feels like it pops a bit or it might stiffen. This happens just from walking down the stairs or just walking around sometimes. Today for the first time my left elbow hurt when I was doing a tri exercise pushing the cable bar down (not sure of name). Everytime I pushed down the left elbow hurt. What is up with all this rickidyness!

It's hard to diagnose anything without watching your form. I know you say it's good, and please don't take offense to this, but that certainly isn't the first time I've heard that.

That said, your form very well could be spot on.

When is the last time you took a break from lifting?

How is your flexibility?

Do you do any flexibility training?

Have you ever thought about seeing a doc?

Active release techniques and/or another form of myofacial release?

I've been lifting very irregularly and not much at all in the past year and 1/2; I had lots of joint problems when I was pregnant so I didn't work out much and the past few months I've been doing a lot on the elliptical; still lifting here and there this whole time but nothing too hard core at all; I've always had bad knees which I remember in my early 20's would hurt when I walked down stairs sometimes, but it wasn't that bad. It got a lot worse during and after my pregnancy (my daughter is now 11 months).

How is your flexibility?

Good question. I don't know; how should I figure this out? And what are the consequences of not being very flexible. Maybe yoga class or something?

Do you do any flexibility training?

Have you ever thought about seeing a doc? No, but you're right I probably should. What kind of doc do you see for this?

Active release techniques and/or another form of myofacial release?

Que??? What is this?

Thanks for your help Steve :hug2:

Thanks for your help Steve :hug2:

OK, so it probably isn't due to over-stressing the body with too much exercise.

Flexibility and balance is a very important component of overall fitness. If imbalances and/or tightness exists, it can have a huge impact on joints. Knees in particular.

Myofascial release is simple a technique used to stretch the fascia and restore the tissue. ART is a form of MR. There are a few techniques that are similar.

My suggestion is to find a good chiropractor who is certified in ART. You can find one at . Can't hurt. I get ART performed on me on a regular basis.

I know, I love those little rolling laughing guys. Reminds me of the good old days when I used to do that at parties. Whoops! Did I type that out loud?
Actually this is what I did at parties. :drooling: Ha ha ha that's the drooling guy.

Congrats on your engagement, Steve. Just read it farther back in your journal.

Is the fascia something in the foot? I had lots of foot problems when pregnant too. Needless to say, it was not fun..but I did get my little luv out of it so of course more than worth it.

No, fascia is simply a term used to describe one of the various tissues of the body. In this case, fascia is simply the tissue covering muscles, bones, and joints.

Blancita may be referring to plantar fasciitis, which is a tearing of the micro fibers in your foot. I had it for 18 months. Very painful. I call it plantar fascism, because it really takes control of your life.

Every other forum I am on I can put a link to my journal, a link to my photo album, and a quote of decent length.

Not here.

I really don't care, you don't have to put that request in. I could care less.

Yes, I was assuming that is what she was thinking of.... but certainly not the same thing.

we try to keep the people happy :) and give them what they want :D :hug2:

I'm not looking for a :boxing: just an excuse to use that smilie :D

I'll ask but I've seen too many other forums where the signatures end up being longer than the actual posts... I can suggest - it's the admin's decisio whether he does it or not :D
