Journey, Not A Destination

Thanks Steve! Next Goal? Gosh, I don't even have a current goal, except stick with this program for the next 5-6 weeks. Kidding...totally kidding.:p

Hahaha, we always have to have goals. Can't hit what you don't aim at.

Well said.

I've been floating around goal less lately, and that's a good reminder about being focused!

I just got done reading your incredibly inspirational post and you have no idea how thankful I am that you're helping so many of us. So many things that we thought were "facts", you've really opened our eyes and our knowledge to what is really happening to our bodies. Your willingness and patience with all of us is amazing. You've repeated so many posts and have seen the same issues that we all face and yet you treat all of us as individuals and help us one at a time. Thanks for everything and I'm so happy that you're walking with us.

Wow, that was incredibly nice of you to say. Put a smile on my face. Thanks! :)

Are you doing anything to combat your plateau?

I'm not sure what else to do. I have a new routine. I'm in a deficit mode 6 days out of 7. I'm tracking everything I eat. I'm sleeping well, properly hydrated, etc.

Sometimes I wonder if that's the difference between losing weight in your 50's and your 20's. Thirty years ago, I had plateaus, but they rarely lasted more than a few days, a week at most.

Actually, the past 3 days has shown a very slight weight loss each day - 2/10's of a pound. But I don't count that. I think I probably just have to be patient for at least 1 or 2 more weeks.

Great post last night! I completely agree. It's a continuous fight to eat healthily, stay educated, and keep your body in peak form. The world around us (and the people in it) can even be resentful if we are winning the fight. It's great to come here where milestones and small victories are celebrated. You are also an inspiration.

good morning!

Well, if that is the case, I would let it play out for another week or two. After that, I suggest upping cals for a week or two.

See if you can't make enough disruption to get the ball rolling again.

Regarding your wife, I was thinking. I would def. check to see if there is an ART guy in your area.

In terms of lifting, I would have her avoid the normal compound movements.

Knee pain can be caused by immobility of hips and ankles. I would focus on a lot of hip/ankle mobility work.

Here is a great video of some things you can do to work on ankle mobility.

YouTube - The FitCast- Ankle Mobility w/ Bill Hartman

I would also work on a lot of lower body movements using only body weight. Additionally, much of the work should be unilateral. This will help fire the knee stabilizers.

She could try things like, single leg romanian deadlifts, lunges, step ups, bulgarian squats, split squats, prisoner squats, ski/wall squats, etc.

If you are ever seriously interestd in mobility, which anyone in their right mind who cares about functioning optimally for years to come, you should spend the bucks for Eric Cressey's Magnificent Mobility found here:

By the Way

You are the first man I havbe ever wanted to meet some day, so we could work out together! And talk, of course :) That would be fun!!!

If I'm ever in the Philidelphia area (highly unlikely though :( ) I will beg you to take me to your gym. Just don't charge me. HA HA! ;)

I would train with anyone here. If you are ever coming to my area, just let me know. I travel quite a bit myself and am always looking for new gyms to workout in.

My next trip is in October to Atlanta.
