Thanks Steve! I'll look for those exercise videos in your journal...it's gonna be a long night! :)

I'm an avid volleyball player and would love to improve my performance. I'm only 33, so I don't think I'm considered old, except to my 6 year old daughter.:D so if you could point me to some recommended exercises for power and strength for sports I'd be your journal slave for infinity...;)

Honestly, I would stick to a strength based routine. You are in the midst of a calorie deficit period. Let resistance training serve its purpose as a muscle maintainer.

We can get into some more functional and sport specific training as your next goal. I could also recommend some great books for you.
 
Hi everyone!

I just wanted to extend a congratulations to everyone. Each and every single day, people come into this journal and share with me their life experiences as they pertain to fitness and nutrition. Some open up even more.

And honestly, believe it or not..... you all inspire me.

All of you try every single day. You show me, and everyone else around you that you care enough about yourself.... about life, to fight.

Let's face it, this is a fight. A million years ago, cavemen had to fight. They had to fight for shelter. They had to fight for food. They woke up every single day knowing they had to fight to survive. Survival was a daily part of life.

Today's Man (women and men) experience a very different daily battle. We don't have to worry, for the most part, where are next meal is going to come from. We don't have to worry about walking great distances to obtain the basic necessities that we so often take for granted. We don't have to worry about enormous birds swooping down out of the sky and transforming us into today's lunch special.

Instead, the temptation to NOT use what our bodies were intended for is everywhere. This is the modern fight. We wage war against stagnation, physically and mentally. And the hard part is, we don't have to fight this war. We could simply chose to lie down and roll with it. Doing so has its risks, but it is so easy to fall into the groove.

We drown in the temptation to fall into this groove. The computer is there. A television can be found in multiple rooms of most homes. We have food pantries stuffed to the brim. We have restaurants with greasy foods at every corner. Plush, soft furniture sits every place we turn, begging for us to "take a load off."

But ya know what. I am honored to say that I belong to a community. A community that is filled with motivated people. Motivated to not only make positive change in their own lives, but also in the lives of people around them. Most of the time, the people they reach out to, offering advice, motivation, condolences.... these people are complete strangers. But you still find the time and energy to reach out.

You've made the choice.

You've decided to be a doer. Active instead of reactive. Life is such a beautiful, precious, and fragile thing. I see far too many people take for granted, their short time they have here on Earth.

I consider myself lucky to have the opportunity to reside here in this great community filled with all of you great people. I look forward to proudly progressing, myself, along side of each and every one of you.

As one, this journey can be quite difficult. Together, our personal powers combine, and the ride gets a lot smoother.

what am amazing thing to write. you are an incredible inspiration and such an asset to this board. i know i wouldn't know what to do without all your knowledge!! :)

I was getting really discouraged about my 2nd plateau, and this gives me some inspiration to keep up the struggle.

Thanks Steve! Next Goal? Gosh, I don't even have a current goal, except stick with this program for the next 5-6 weeks. Kidding...totally kidding.:p
