Joni's Weightloss Diary

Today's the day! How many times have I said this but this time is now or never. Being at my heaviest ever I realize I NEED to do this, not only for myself but for my family too. My husband didn't ask for this when he said 'I do' but is extremely supportive. I did not sign up for this nor did my kids. So I'm doing this for all of us.

My final goal is to weigh 115 lbs with smaller goals along the way. My starting goal is to reach 200 lbs which I will then reward myself with a shopping spree. My next goal is 150 lbs which I will then reward myself with a tattoo & a shopping spree. My final goal is 115 lbs which I will reward my family with a trip to Disney World and of course myself with a shopping spree. I am not giving myself a timeline because that doesn't work for me. I want to be happy with any progress I make.

I weighed myself at the doctors office today - 254.25 lbs.!!!!!!!! Came home & ate carrots with ranch dressing. Had mac & cheese wih 2 weiners for dinner. And for snack a rice pudding cup with stawberries & sugar with 2 sips of pepsi. This is a HUGE improvement then most days. Wish me luck for tomorrow!

Hey Joni, :waving:

Congrats on your new start. I too am getting started, so I know how hard it can be. Your goals seem realistic, and what woman doesn't love a shopping spree? We'll definitely need more clothes when we start dropping weight. :)

Congrats on eating those carrots, very healthy. But how many calories and fat is in that ranch dressing? Hopefully its fat free or something. I threw my ranch dressing away yesterday and bought some fat free stuff. Anyway...

There is a sticky in this forum, you can answer more questions about yourself so people can get to know you and your goals more. I'll definitely be back to check in on you, welcome to the forums. :)

Welcome to the forum Joni! What's your weight loss plan?

Hope this question isn't rude, but I was just wondering why you need to be going from being lusciously overly curvy to being stick thin. What's wrong with us curvy ladies..wah. LOL Just kidding, but I am curious. That certainly sounds totally and completely unattainable for me and I'm only 5'1 and 1/2 and most of my life I maintained my weight around 128 lbs. I was very athletic at the time, but I've always had a large appetite so I was proud to even manage that. Anyway, there are people that do it. They go from extremely heavy to extremely thin, but I find it interesting as a goal considering even getting to the 130's or 140's would be a huge healthy change for you.

Best of luck to you on your weight loss :).

Hi Joni

Welcome to the forum and good luck with your project.

I notice that you have set up a ticker. You can put BMI on it too. A lot of us do that. There is a vast difference between someone who is 5ft0 aspiring to be 115 pounds and someone who is 5ft8 so having the BMI show that it is a healthy weight may save you from as many queries.

Like Claudia - I am interested as to how you came up with that goal weight. I used a weight that I remember feeling comfortable with myself in my youth - but have always maintained that I may revisit it as I get closer and see what I look like.

Someone on the forum recently mentioned a calculator which produces a "happy weight" - you may wish to see what your "happy weight" is and see how it compares to your current goal.

I think that you need loads more milestones to get down through all that weightloss. You need something whereby as you get to each milestone you are really close to the next one that it seems immediately attainable.

Also - I note that a lot of your rewards are shopping sprees. That is fine - but you may buy a load of clothes that you hardly get a chance to wear. I have been on my project for 14 months and in that time have gone from UK size 32 to now where I am currently between UK size 12 and 14. That is an awful lot of changes in clothes size. There have been months where I have changed clothes size every month and I have rarely been the same size for more than two months. You may do better to promise yourself a new minimum wardrobe every 15 pounds. It is amazing how much use you can get out of comparitively few clothes and it neednt cost much. Some of us swear by the clothes bargains that you can get in supermarkets whilst others of us rave about the excellent value for money that you can get in charity shops. The fact is that something inexpensive that fits your new figure looks so good - it looks better than something highly expensive that is the wrong dress size.

When you really transform your body shape - a single expensive shopping spree does not really make sense apart from the one that we all plan on having at goal.

Are you counting calories to ensure that you are eating the right dressing for your carrots? Have you put any consideration into the calorie level that you may be aiming at? Have you plans to exercise? - it really does make a huge difference to the success of a weight loss project.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Day 2

Well I have no energy today, I guess that's what having no caffine can do to you. For lunch I had 4 pieces of rye bread with marg with sprinkled br sugar ( I know it's not the heathiest but it beats chips & pepsi which is ALL I have drank till now). I did walk to the post office & store today (yay me) then had a rice pudding.

It's hard exercising when you weigh 250 lbs so I'm hoping that decreasing my food intake with a lil exercise will slowly get the weight down. I am also on medication for bipolar which does not help with weight loss. I don't want to go fanatoic about one diet and limit myself from foods because it doesn't work for me but it also is not a long term eating plan.

I did do the happy weight test and it was 125ish lbs. I am not set on my 115 lbs but that's a number I would like to see myself at right now. If I get to 140 or 130 and realize that 115 is a unrealistic goal I will change it then.

hay joni it is difficult knowing what weight you really want to be as we both have long way until we get there i think as you've said the best thing to do is to see how you feel once you are nearer the weight and decide then!

I don't think I've ever been so excited about a 2 lb weightloss!!! Yayy Me!! It sure does give me motivation to keep going.

Congratulations on your 2 pounds loss!

I have some flexibility in my own goal weight. The secret is always maintaining a level of flexibility. I may decide to stop losing earlier if I like where I am. I see that you are going for a similar goal BMI to the one that I am going for.

You may get less queries on your goal now that you are displaying your BMI. A BMI of less than 20 is unhealthy and girls that are taller would have an unhealthy BMI with your goal weight.
