jond's one day at a time journal

Wow morning Jond, you go man! You are a machine, hehe well so am I.... lets see its my day 15 today, Ok - converting to pounds... lets see I started at 202 pounds. I lost 3 pounds this last week and 9.4 pounds in my first week. Can't believe my week 1!

And of course I would have liked to have lost more in my 2nd week - but that's me - miss I want results and I want them now!

Yeah, its great to know that we are not alone - I think that my low GI / high protein diet is similar to yours - our time frames are similar too, haha. Wouldn't ya know, go half way around the world.... (hey we're only a quick 21 hour flight from you)

Yeah I like coffee too, to help suppress the hunger but I have some milk in mine! Also, in my week one I had my first 2 days where I had a phentermine pill - not recommending it - just being honest. So that speeds up the metabolism I think - plus unlike you, I just felt like I had no strength to even begin to try (yet again, grrr)!

Sounds like you got good support at home too! Which really helps!
Anyway, all the best with your day today! You are doing so well, good on you!!!! :)))

9.4 and 3 is great. so we are off to a good start.

i want to give helpful advice for u and me to follow. its tempting to say we just need to want it bad enough and be tough and all that. i think its true we needed some gumption to start this and persevere through tough times. but on the other hand we need to let go a little as well.

craving food pushes us one way, but craving losing weight, having a big aversion to a pound gained, caring so much about our image all this stuff can push the other way. the result is no balance. so then natually we eat, drink, drugs, sex to feel better, gain calm.

well thats my dharma speech lol. balance grasshopper! good luck mbelle we'll get there.

8:00 pm

did 36 push ups.
ate well until dinner. extra roast chicken. overate a little bit. oh well. very little cardio - short ass walk nothing else.

hehe Thanks Jond, that's good very good.

yeah - I don't do balance well! I was thinking about this today - thinking that I'm swinging to the other extreme - of counting every mouthful, carefully going through ALL the nutritional breakdowns for everything and spending probably way too much time on the forum.... but you know, for me baby steps.

I think I can do a little bit - I guess am anxious that IF I allow myself to slide back - I may just decide to go off the deep end again, and who knows when or if I'll be willing to try again!

Maybe I'm too cynical about myself - I dunno, probably too much failure, pain and disappointment. I don't have the answers, am just trying to get through each day - with my minimum goals:

post everyday and try to stay 80% low gi healthy eating! My exercise is a bonus. :)

DAY 20

doing okay thanks!

on the weight loss i dont know if i even lost any this week. not really working out. still sticking to pretty good diet though.

i am tough on myself. i dont want to get too up cause i am afraid to be let down. lol. oh well i am working on it.

have a good weekend. i want to not eat rest of night (its 9 pm i should be okay not really hungry) and tomorrow work out. i want to have good results on monday. good luck to you on your 3rd week!

Day 21

doing good today.

460 cals on bike and counting
38 pushups
10 x flys and 10 x curls
walked in park

eating less than a cat. nah im eating okay - shake for b-fast. sushi and soup for lunch. gonna grill some steak. love san diego weather baby.

hmmm - its pretty much raining most of the time over here, but then hey - we have plenty of good water! lol

Thanks for that, some days are easier than others eh. Well my exercise routines are no where near as notable as yours! Am a wimpy walker - no weights / resistance weights here, hehe.

The most I been doing is a very slow jog between lamp posts during my week day walks.... over here its sunday avo - so back to routine next week. Must admit I was clock watching a bit today - less busy on weekends. But just mowed the lawns - whew!

I really like sushi too, dammit... never mind - roll on my day 29 - THEN I'm going to have some! Have an awesome day. :)

im on my bike now watching football. i skipped b-fast shake this morning and have lunch in 15 min or so. just got coffee. didnt plan on no shake but just went out for coffee and forgot and now i just want to skip it cause i have weigh in tomorrow.

dumbell raises x 20
d-b press - x 20
t-raises x 40
leg lifts x 110 total.

hmmm. You know that guys can eat twice as much as women and still lose weight!!!!
Sickening, if you ask me.

Hey Jond - are you counting your KJs at all? Just being nosey! yeah, I know its a pain! I guess with all of your exercise there's no danger that your metabolism would slow down - without enough food? I don't know - but I can so relate to the idea of NOT eating BEFORE a weigh in!

On the morning I go, I don't even like to drink water, lol!

Day 23

-2 lbs this week! That's good. Down to 230lbs.

i do feel like my metabolism might be down a bit. i feel slowed and sluggish sometimes, but i feel like that all my life so who knows! idk a lot re: diet. KJs? i dont even know what it means. in poker KJs aka "king jack suited " i'll play it vs all but the tightest opponents!

so the weight loss has sort of decreased - 10 then 4 then 2. not going to predict this week will be 1 or 0 or 2 or +1. just try to do best today. one day at a time.

Yeah mate, that's the attitude!

Tonight - when yes I stood on my home scales again - I thought stuff it - who cares - I weigh what I'll weight - and no excuse for me to eat....

hehe - yeah sometimes graphing and predicting weight loss is a drag.

2 Lbs though is very good - and I'm sure the weight police out there will feel that's a fantastic result, hehe - in fact they may still think that's too high!

Anyway, well done, I'll be hitting the real scales tomorr morning, if I have time, I'll post - otherwise it can wait!

Hey have a great 4 days! & Congratulations on another week, well done!

day 24

ty ty!

okay yesterday was no workout, ate a little more than usual day. not that bad actually. i dont get as hungry it seems, but i want to keep it up and not overeat so i have to go through the hunger again. actually was very hungry before lunch yesterday so whatever i dont know what i am saying.

today - we'll see. thinking about adding a little run to my walk. if i can. it hurt too much to run when i was 250 but now at 230 we'll see if my legs can take the pounding.

Good on you Jond, you are doing so well, and I like the give it a go attitude.

Haven't exercised today - but that ok... about to hop on the plane,

See ya, all the best

day28

missed some days here. i have been walking but no bike or weights.

t-giving i ate more than usual but i wouldnt say over ate. its saturday and i have weigh in monday.

its hard for me to get too motivated tbh. i want to lose more weight just so i look better and my clothes fit. but im 40 and i have a girlfriend so i dont need to get in shape to play any sports or attract women.

i am thinking about getting into sports again but really that whole thing is just fun and play and i have fun and play pretty much every day anyways watching sports and posting on sports forums.

so we'll see i really do want to get some cardio and diet hard til monday so i can post a loss.

hey Jond, Nice to be back and thanks for the visit. Yeah with the time difference I weigh in the day after you. How much more are you aiming to lose again? Sorry, you've probably said.

BTW, walking really is very good you know, for fat burning. All in all you still sound pretty motivated. Good luck with your build up to Monday!

Day 30

LOST 4 LBS!! new weight 226. I got my 36 in. pants on, which is cool since most of my nice clothes and suits are 36 inch waist.

so i am down from 246 in 4 weeks! pretty good. pretty neat. i have 20lb dumbells and its hard to believe i was carrying that around. no wonder i couldnt run without it hurting.

man, im gonna stick to it. still have some more to go.

Jond Rocks

You are the bomb!!!! (Whoops I hope that's a compliment over there!!!)

Fabulous Jond, absolutely fabulous!!!!!

Yeah!!!!!!!!

1.8kg!!!! 4 pounds - wow, that's incredible - and like you said overall, whew. Great job!!!!

Its all worth it eh!

yeah its going well. i havent read ur diary yet but i hope ur doing good too.

ran some yesterday. been eating a bit more lately. i am going to run and try to eat healthy and weigh in again on monday. well see ya later.

WEEK 5 weigh in -

+1. lol might have gained a pound to 227. late night burrito, sugar in coffee, lots of eggs and toast. i ran out of shake. so i have to get back on it.

Hey Jond, yep the body is a mysterious thing.

Just keep going, I can only say for myself - this didn't happen to me overnight - so it ain't comin off overnight either!

Be gentle and patient with yourself - ok!

Hehe, we even managed to pick a pearler of a season to be doing this, mind you Christmas is not as big for you over there eh. You've had thanks giving - which sounds sooooooo cool. We have a really close friend (a Kiwi) who's married to an American gal - just got his green card - anyway he's leaving us for good on Christmas day - to live over there - he can't wait!!!!

Anyway, there are so many break up parties and dos. I was glad that I had to turn down a smorgasboard (all you can eat) lunch - tomorrow. Yay (I really do have a work meeting) - I don't fancy the piggie party opportunity, and watching everyone else go for it and me - with a few lettuce leaves???? Yeah right!

Well Jond, you know what to do, how you can lose, its ok for us to slow down a bit now and then, the fact that we keep coming back to the forum shows we seriously care about our health - and "when the chips are down" (I've gotta teach you to talk Kiwi now and then) - our decision to keep going - is the most important thing.....

Have a fantastic day! :bigear:
