Each night i've been more and more hungry at night. I've examined it for boredom, emotional eating, tired eating, etc. I truly am hungry. I've even been drinking 16 ounces of water before eating, and sometimes it works. I'm sure it helps me to eat a bit less.

Is my hunger because I don't eat enough at dinner, or because I work out in the evenings and burn off so many calories? I'm trying to make sure it's not all in my head, but I really think it's hunger. Any tips or suggestions?

hunger at night

I don't think you are eating enough during the day and/or dinner Jolie. I experience the same thing.
Kick butt sister. Twice to the gym :hug2: You mean business!

Jolie you and I are doing the same stuff physically (I think anyways from your posts) and I am drinking protein shakes after my spin class and I'm shocked at how full they make me. I just made a protein shake that had only 340 calories in it but 29 grams of protein, and I'm FULL! I haven't felt so full in months actually, since I've been on this 1400 cal diet. I don't know what you're eating but I am really happy about the shake. Also I don't mean to offer random advice, this is just what is working for me. :) Keep it up woman!

I eat at 8:30 a.m. a slice of wheat toast with butter substitute. Total of 80 calories.

I eat a snack at 10:30, usually strawberries or something healthy, 100 calories or less.

Sometimes gym at 11:30 for 1 hour of spinning (at least 1000 calories down)

I aim for lunch at 12:30, about 300 calories

Snack at 3:00 100 calories or less.

Gym at 4:30 (1 hour of spinning at least 1000 calories down)

Supper at 6:00, usually about 500-700 calories.

That adds up to between 1100 and 1300 calories.

If I eat at about 8:30, a small snack about 100-150 calories.

That adds up to about 1200 and 1450 calories.

I also don't get how to calculate my calories burned during the day and how that works with losing weight. Any tips?

Bleh Bleh Bleh. I am trying to work more protein into my diet. All the fiber I've been eating has been doing what fiber does to my output activity. My tummy hurts.

At least that's partially from the abs class I took yesterday. Total killer.

Thanks Jolie for stopping by my diary...

You're right about the pictures, I will put them up...yikes! You might have to explain to me how I upload them...(not too computer savvy!) :)

I've seen yours, you have such a pretty smile! You're very pretty...good luck to you!

Mothers

Why is it that nothing is ever good enough for my mom? I am so frustrated!!! "Should you really have eaten that grilled shrimp? You could have gone without supper. You really aren't making any progress." Argh! And i try to explain that starvation does not work her comeback is---you're never going to believe this one---"well, obviously it does. Anorexic girls are always thin. You should have gone to the gym again today. Could have worked off that disgusting toast you had this morning." ARGH!!! I am sooooo ready to move out of this house! Can't wait for school to start and get a few paychecks saved up!

Well maybe u shd let her know the medical issues anorexic gals have. No period.... thin hair and internal organs disappearing by the second.

Persevere on sister!:)

Good luck Jolie! And try not to let your mom bother you too much since she obviously doens't know what she's talking about. If it makes you feel better, you can always blame her for making you fat since she's the one that raiseds you with possible bad ideas about nutrition hehe :p

Anyways, life gets better once you move out, trust me on this one. But keep working out, cause it's so easy to start relaxing on your own couch and not cooking properly if it's just you.

My cousin picked up her newly adopted son, Ricky, yesterday! He's absolutely adorable, all smiles, and really happy to be here with his new family. :D

Yuck. I feel gross. I look gross. I'm having a bad day. Even exercising made me feel crappier. Don't feel like eating. At least, not anything healthy. Hope I'm not getting sick.

Maybe hormones Jolie? We all get those days for sure where you just feel like crap no matter what. Sucks though I know, but it will pass.

Ah, I love my extended family. They really are super-great. I only have 2 really close friends that aren't in my family, and they've been around forever, so they are like family and one actually married my cousin.

Anyway, babbling. I have been feeling kinda crappy and was talking to my cousins, and they are just so supportive and blunt. One of them owns the gym I go to and basically gave it to me straight that I am doing good and hitting the gym every day; I'm there more than he is.

We all cooked tonight, and they were all going to do ribeyes, but changed it to grilled chicken when they heard I was working on losing weight. Maybe they are all skinny by nature and suck for that, but they are awesome friends.

Big family party tomorrow night. Lots of gambling, cards, drinking, pool tournaments, volleyball tournaments, drinking, dancing, singing, drinking, dancing on the pool table...did I mention drinking? I live in south Louisiana. I love my coonass (that means cajun redneck) family. Can't wait for the band. Gotta limit the jambalaya (my uncle is cooking and he is the winner of the jambalaya festival for so many years they just let him judge now) and the alcohol. Ok. I'll probably just limit the jambalaya. I have a babysitter. Best part---the party's at our family's party house. I live next door. NO DRIVING!!!!!!!!!

:D We have a house designated just for parties and everyone in my town and a few towns over know where we mean when we say the party house. Good times. We decorated tonight, that turned into a party at the first sound of a pop top. We will clean on Saturday, that will turn into a party at the first sound of a pop top. Church on Sunday, barbeque chicken after. That will turn into a party at the first sound of a pop top. Get the pattern?

hi Jolie,

Thanks for stopping by my journal. I need all the support I can get. Your family parties sound awesome! I havn't gotten a chance to read through your whole journal yet but I will. I just wanted to thank you for showing me some support =0) Have a good night.

P-A-R-T-Y!!! Any tips on low-cal drinks? Other than plain ole water? Something containing alcohol :D. I LOVE MY FAMILY PARTIES!!! I think I may have mentioned that.

And today, I officially suck. I ate Lucky Charms for breakfast. Oh well, grilled chicken salad for lunch. Veggie tray food for snack. Jambalaya for dinner (not healthy, but read down a couple to find out about the jambalaya we're having). Totally justifiable. Plus, knowing my family, I'll dance out all the calories on the pool table.

wow! did really well at the party, too much to drink, but still each glass was followed by a bottle of water for a 1:2 ratio of drink:water. Also did really well with the food. Lots of the family brought sweets (and I have a major sweet tooth) but I only had half of a brownie, and half of a small plate of jambalaya with salad (no dressing) on the other, larger half of the plate. Everyone is really supportive, so along with the sweets brought kick-butt veggies and fruits for me as well. gotta put my foot on the floor to keep from spinning a bit, but I'm good and will not have a hangover tomorrow.

Also, my little boy, who is 2, spent the night at his grandparent's house (so lucky to have an amazing extra family, even if his dad's not involved as much as we'd like, his familly is so in love with my son and does everything possibl \e to help us out). ANyway, andrew is sick. I think he has strep throat because his throat hurts, he has green snot pouring out, and he has a pretty high fever. My neices had it last week, so it's a good chance of being that. We'll head to the doctor tomorrow. poor baby, he's normally so happy but at hte party earlier (before any drinking started) he was so tiredd and grumpy and told me that he thought he might have a fever. Who ever heard of a two year old talking aobut maybe having a fever! He's so smart. Had a fever of 102.3, rightafter swimming and getting cold. Poor baby.

So we went to the doctor this morning, and I was right. He does have strept throat and an ear infection. Poor baby. Our doctor insisted on checking me out, too, since she said I looked really bad. I thought it was just a nasty hangover, even though I didn't drink too much last night. Nope, I have strep as well. New way to diet--can't swallow anything but ice water. Even diet coke or sprite stings going down. Andrew has been pretty miserable all day, sleeping on and off and I can't get his fever down too much. He cries in his sleep and has lost his voice. I wish I would have realized sooner that he was getting sick so I could have taken him to the doctor earlier. We're supposed to be going to Florida on Wednesday, and the doc said we should be fine to go, so I hope we don't have to cancel our trip.

My dad got me a chocolate frosty from wendy's but since that's pretty much the only thing I ate today other than low sodium chicken broth with noodles, I'm still way way under for calories. Whatever. I don't even care right now I feel so yucky.
