Joint Health

ok, heres is the question...what is good to take/do to keep my joints (knees!!) feeling good? DO the joint pills have any merit?

I ask this b/c i weight train like i have said and the BIG reason is now for my job i put up stock at a grocery store so my knees take a beating. Squatting, and sliding and bending over at work sucks.

Some people say they work and other people say they don't make any difference at all.

They make a difference for me, but I have OA in my right knee. But I'm not sure there are any studies that can conclusively state that Glucosamine and Chondroitin (along with MSM) actually help joints in those individuals who do not suffer from moderate to severe pain from osteoarthritis. I do not believe that either supplement actually has the ability to heal the joint, nor do I believe that they can prevent cartilage loss. But somehow they work for me. If I forget to take my glucosamine, by the end of the day my knee feels "swollen".

If you only have mild pain, and you don't have OA, you probably will not derive any benefit from glucosamine/chondroitin.

I have heard that omega 3's have anti-inflammatory properties, so maybe that should be your first line of defense :)

The only way you'll really know is if you take them and your knees feel better :)

Really??? Thats awesome. I just went to my "hook-up" who works at GNC and got about 10 bottles of 1000mg fish oil for $2 each. Hope it really helps the knees cause i already know it helps the body

Excder, do you have to kneel on your knees at work? Because if you do, I'd invest in a really sweet pair of knee pads to help with that.
