Hey everyone, I'm doing research about joggers/Cyclists to design a product to make it safer people who jog or ride outdoors (day time or night time). If you have the time to help me out and answer a few questions, i would appreciate it alot. there are alot of gears out there that some people by to stay safe while exercising. I'd like to know everyone's personal experience, feel free to vent, explain, elaborate and just provide as much information as you'd like. Any type of feed back would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Do you jog/ride with traffic or against traffic, why?
What type of jogging/cycling gear do you usually have when you go? Why do you use them? (in the day time/night time)
Is there any gear thats uncomfortable, what is it?
What is your biggest fear/safety issue when it comes to jogging/cycling? (daytime and/or night)
Do you keep track of your speed/distance or even heart rate as you exercise?, if not, would you like to?
Describe your routine, ie.- stretching, getting your gear on, mapping your destination/distance, etc.

OK, will give it a shot:
Gear:
HR Monitor (for zoning & basic records)
Hat (sun protection & Helps keep light weight head phones in place)
Light weight Headphones (ear plugs tend to short out with sweat/block out too much noise & clog up the ears on long runs...just my opinion)
Cord...To tie around my waist to hold up Lycra pants to aid in a folding/rolling technique that some of us shorter over weight people use to keep our crutches protected from chaffing...well I do anyways.
iPhone...my MP3 player which motivates me/Records GPS tracking-Time,Distance,Pace bla bla
Vasaline...Wind protection & Chaffing
Small compresion bandage for shin splints/micro fractures & the like.
Don't use one yet, but a running belt would be good for Keys and the like.

I ussually Stretch before I go, pick a time that is not busy, with Parks & grass tracks my favourite. I adjust my shoe laces so the are suppportive but not tight.
I wish I had a lap counter when running on ovals or doing track work, but one that is easy to carry
I wish I could find a pair of sun glasses with good ventilation and anti fog!!!
I think I will go back to using sweat bands...I'm a sweater and it can be a pain at times.
Don't reall jog with water, except on Treadmill (although I should consider setting somthing up on the oval (paranoid about leaving gear in one spot)
I like to use thick Socks when not on grass.
I rehydrate as soon as I finish a run
I'd like to find some decent interval training MP3s...doubt there are any worth whileones about.

That's about it for me... Books are good, but since my iPhone, it's pretty much got all the info I need at a moments glance.
Good luck with it!
Dave
