Jliv566's Diary

I've been having difficulty with cramps lately, so I've been avoiding the jogging. I'm going to try again today, though.

121 lbs! I'm only one pound away from my short-term goal. And I have two weeks left to meet it.

Today I rode with my sister to Whataburger which is a little ways down the street. I didn't want anything because I had just eaten, but I wanted the exercise. Then later we did a 40 minute yoga video together and after that we went jogging together. We were continuing on week 2 of the Couch-to-5k program. I messed up a little bit last week, so this week I'm going to count as week 2 and go from there.

Then it was free root beer float night at Sonic... man was that intense. For the first couple of hours I was just taking the floats out as soon as the cars were pulling up to my assigned area, and that required me to move fast with a decent amount of weight in my hand. That was really tiring. Then I was just carhopping for the next two hours which wasn't nearly as bad.

All in all, quite a physical day.

Wow 121! You are actually at yr goal weight for China already!

Free Rootbeer float nite? Interesting... At least you werent the one drinking all those right? Ha....

No no... I don't like root beer. :)

I just had sleep paralysis again for the first time in months. I started hearing music... it was a Nightwish song... then I tried to wake up and was trying to move my arms, but of course I couldn't. So I was able to open my eyes a little bit, and I saw that my arms weren't moving even though I was trying really hard to make them move. And little by little I started to move the covers off of me. I looked over and my laptop was on and somebody was talking to me on AIM. Then the song changed to a Jethro Tull song, and I realized all that was a part of a dream and I still couldn't move my arms (or open my eyes). The music stopped. After about 5 seconds I was able to move and open my eyes (for real this time).

Good job on the 121! I can't ever imagine being that light, lol. I'll just try and get to 135 if that's possible, lol. All my sisters are my height and vary between 120-135 pounds, so I wanna aim for the latter of that and see if I can do it and what I look like at that point. Anyways, good job, I'm positive you'll get to your short term goal before the time is up!

I hate when you can't wake from dreaming. I always hated when I had really bad dreams and I would be trying sooooo hard to move or open my eyes and I just couldn't, that's the worst. The next worst thing is when you finally do wake up and go back to sleep too soon and you're right back at that horrible dream and then can't wake yourself up again!

Yeah that's sleep paralysis. The body puts itself in a state of paralysis while sleeping so that you don't act out your dreams, but sometimes you wake up before your brain tells your body to start moving again, and it can be scary if you don't know what's going on.

The body's weight normally shifts. It could be as simple as fluids. So don't think of it as gaining 2 pounds, I'm sure you didn't eat THAT many cals to put it on as actual weight. Just keep eating right and exercising then for sure you'll go back down.

Well I'm bloated. My waist has increased overnight, as well. I know that's why the scale says what it does. I'm not too worried, I just don't like the way it feels.

I'm leaving for China in less than two days... I'm excited!

The scale is still saying 123.5. Whatever. That will be my starting point and I'll see how much I lose while I'm overseas. My next update may not be until August, so hopefully by then I'll be in better shape.

WOw!!! Happiness! :jump:
Can u bring me along? I miss that place! Hope u get to walk the Great Wall if u hv a chance! It's a good workout lol. Some Chinese ladies wore 2 inch heels and walked all the way up! All those steps..... Phew.
But u'll enjoy Tianjing too. It's beautiful.
Enjoy yourself gal! Do update us with pics if u can!:)

Yeah we're going to Beijing and stopping by all the major sites, including the Great Wall. We're also going to Xi'an.

Scale said 122 today. It's finally starting to go back down. But today is the second day of my period and I still feel bloated and crappy.

Crappy is the word to describe that. Just continue to down yourself with lots of water if u eat any salty stuff.

I weighed in today at 120.5. I felt like my body was deteriorating in China. I started eating all the snack foods I could find just to try to keep my caloric intake at a decent level. I didn't really like the food they provided us and ordering in the restaurants was difficult because I couldn't read the menus, so that's why I resorted to snack foods (cookies and ice cream). So I think any weight that I lost was definitely muscle mass and not fat. I think I had diarrhea for the entire first week and a half... and then I got it again halfway through the trip. Blah. Today I'm finally getting over jet lag and not sleeping all day and I'm finding I can't stand for long periods of time without feeling like I'm going to faint. I'm eating everything in sight but I can't shake this feeling.

Sorry I haven't been on in a while (was moving).

Awww, sorry about the food and everything. Diarrhea sucks, but having it for that long, man that would be horrible!

I'm sorry you're feeling really crappy. I hope that you'll feel better soon. Try eating things with a lot of vitamins and minerals (like iron) because you would have a lack of that from just eating junk food. Try and get in a lot of veggies, esp dark green leafy ones (spinach and whatnot) also lean proteins and whole grains. I'm sure you know that, lol. Also make sure you're getting enough water too.

I really hope that eating like that for a bit will help the faint feeling go away!

It's been a while since that post -- my body was doing weird things for a couple of weeks after returning from China. Now I'm me again and back to where I was pretty much before I started losing weight at the end of last school year. I'm guessing around 125 but I haven't weighed myself in a while. I've been exercising this school year -- biking to school, taking a weight training class. I've been so exhausted from the weight training and biking that I haven't really been able to incorporate anything else. The soreness has finally worn off so today I'm going to do some yoga I think and maybe try a jog later if it's not raining. I guess I need a new goal. Let's say 120 by mid-October.

I have been eating much better than I was in China. Chicken, fish, spinach, broccoli, granola w/ soy milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, orange juice, bananas, sandwiches on whole wheat, etc...

Even though I'm not sure I've lost any weight, I am starting to notice a difference in muscle tone. The front of my legs (where the major muscle used for cycling is located) is starting to feel a little harder, as are my upper arms (on the outside, not inside). Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be able to see a more substantial change.

My ultimate goal is to get somewhere like 110-115 lbs. I'll see how that goes...
