Jimmy's weightloss diary

I'm new to the website but not new to trying to shift excess weight. I live between Greece and England and after spending a summer in Greece I've had to endure countless colleagues/family/friends tell me how much weight i've put on. So determined to do something about it, I've started my Diary and here I am on day one. I weighed myself yesterday in Boots in Manchester...13 Stone 8 pounds (86 kilos I think?) so my aim in 6 months is to get my weight down to 11 stone. I'm going to cut out drinking alcohol and bread/cakes etc. Also go to walk and jog (need some decent running shoes first). If you're reading this, thanks for taking a look and good luck with your weight loss journey too!

not the best day today, full of a cold and eating for Britain (crisps, chocolate mousses). Tomorrow will be a better day, off to York so will find some healthy food!

Good luck on trying to drop the weight. The crisps (doing my UK to US translation it's "crisps=chips" and "chips=fries" IIRC) are probably not the best thing, but then if you don't eat too many you won't do too much damage.

Thanks for the post MrVee. Good luck with your journey too! I'll do plenty of work tomorrow and stay away from anywhere selling (potato chips/crisps) :)

York was great, opted for skinny coffees (twice) and had soup and walked for miles around York in the drizzle. Feel like I'm over my cold now as well which is good. Still drinking at the moment (4 beers last night - although they were small ones) so will drink less tonight and make sure my drinking tapers off to nothing. Feeling optimistic and focused! :)

Feeling like I'm back on track! Today is the first day I will be giving up alcohol until I reach my target weight of 11 stone and since last post no food binges/chocolate/crisps/chips etc.

I've decided only to weigh myself once a week as I don't want to get obsessed with weight change every day. Have decided that Saturday will be my weigh day so will update my posts with my weight every Saturday.

Finding a lot of inspiration from the other diaries and the forum in general

Not got too much coming up over the next few days apart from night out in Manchester tomorrow. It will put my non-alcohol rule to the test!

First evening without alcohol succesfully completed! Pleased with myself especially as I was surrounded by people drinking around the dinner table and offers of glasses of wine etc :beerchug:

I have a headache this morning but feeling focused and going to have a day of healthy eating. Off to Manchester this evening, meeting friends in a bar tonight.

Has anyone got any good ideas of a low calorie non alcoholic drink? Like a non alcoholic lager? What soft drinks do you drink that are low in calories (apart from water!).

Weightday tomorrow...going to have a good day

Don't really have a lot of experience with near beers. Most should have quite a few less calories. Google it and see what you get.

As for soft drinks, obviously there's diet soda. I had a Gatorade a few days ago which was only about 45 calories for a pint. I think other sport drinks may be more calorie filled though so check. I don't know how many calories are in iced tea because I don't drink it. You can try sweetening water with fruit juice yourself, but that's kind of a pain.

On my travels tomorrow and flying over to Athens in the morning. Surrounded by my things and suitcases in a last minute attempt to pack everything for the next 6 months.

Since my last post I've indulged. Boozy nights and tapas, meals out and some healthy eating as well. My weight currently stands at 13 stone 8 pounds but I'm positive that back in Greece I'm going to maintain no alcohol and my healthy eating plan with some much needed exercise (yoga and jogging and walking).

I believe that alcohol inhibits my weight loss due to the calorie amounts, also it doesn't particularly agree with me anyway (although I love it) as I always get a dreadful headache the next day even if it was one or two glasses and feel very sluggish. I've not had any wine/booze this evening so all is well and I'm back to Day One!

Keep well & safe and thanks for reading!
