So I'm planning on doing a detox. Not one of those extreme ones where you live off liquids for days on end starving yourself! I am going to be following a detox set out by a Dr. Nash Joshi. He is a doctor in London and has his own practice. He focuses on the Ayurvedic practice of medicine. It's all about eating clean healthy nutritious foods, no chemicals, artificial flavors, etc. I randomly came accross his book recently and thought id give it a shot.
This detox appealed to me because it's supposed to get rid of ailments like headaches, bloating, heartburn, etc. Basically making my body as healthy and toxin free as it can be.
For 3 weeks to kick start my healthy way of eating I'll be avoiding most dairy, wheat, red meat, etc. I'll be eating 5 meals/day consisting of whole grain rice, live yogurt, lots of veggies, lentils, chicken, fish, etc.
Right now I'm 5'8 and.....ugh...200 pounds. I've really been doing a lot of "emotional eating" the last few months and I want to lose about 45-50 pounds.
My brother is getting married in march 2011 and right now I can't phathom putting on a dress. So my goal is 40 pounds in 6 months. Lots of healthy, chemical free foods as well as spinning classes, hot yoga and pilates classes, hopefully 6 days/ week. Am I biting off more than I can chew? Maybe. It's a little intimidating. I plan to start next Monday to give myself so time to join a gym, get some groceries, etc. So sept 27 it is..a journey to a new me. At least I really really hope so
