Hi there!

My name is Jessa and I am about to start my sophomore year in college. While I only have between 20 and 30 pounds that I'd like to lose...the number really isn't that big of a deal to me. It has taken me so long to learn this. After many attempts and little success I gave up for awhile. It was during that "down time" that I realized that my body didn't want to fit into the certain ideal that I had in mind. It's just begging me to be healthier and more fit!

I am about to move out into my own apartment in a few days and I think that this will be the best thing for me. Finally after years of living at home and one year in a dorm...I have total, complete control over what I eat. No excuses anymore. And I get a free gym pass with my tuition for school so that is exciting.

For me I've found out that the process of writing down my goals helps me to get more motivated in accomplishing them. So here are some of my goals. My plan is to revisit these goals each month to see how I've done. Some of these aren't health & fitness goals...but overall lifestyle goes. I think it all goes together.

GOALS>
1. Up my water consumption while cutting out soda.
2. Exercise at least 3 times/week.
3. Keep a 3.5 GPA or above.
4. Try to cook more of my own meals rather than going out and eating.
5. Get a job.

I think that these are some good, reasonable goals to aim for initially. I don't want to make the mistake of being too specific right away.

I'm at the age right now where I am having so much fun in life. I am having the best experiences and learning so many things. I want my body to be able to keep up with my spirit. One of my classes this fall is yoga. It is once a week for an hour and a half, so I have no choice...I HAVE to do that. :) I have an amazing boyfriend who I love and wonderful friends. Everything is going really well.

OK...so I just weight myself. I haven't been 140 in about 2 years. It's not like I'm outrageously overweight or anything like that, but I'm completely unhealthy, despite the number.

So...here's to new beginnings! A new transformation is underway.

Your goals sound great, and very reasonable. nice to have a free gym membership! Cool! How tall are you? Have you checked out FitDay.com? It is a marvelous (and free) weight loss tool! This forum is also simply fantastic for info and inspiration.
