Jessafurr's Slimdown for Mexico Trip

Hi. I'm Jessa. I introduced myself in the newby section and now I'm going to start a journal here.

The two other times I lost signifigent weight successfully I kept my own food and thought journal and I found it helped alot. This is like an upgrade to that cause I can get feed back from others who share my struggles.

I am 31 yrs old. I am 5'2" and I weight around 165lb. Actually I am completely guessing on that but its probably pretty acurate. I plan to weigh myself tommorrow when I start going to the gym again. I need to weigh in on Thurs for the New Years to Vday challenge (on this forum) also.

My goal, ultimatly, is to be bikini ready by July 4th. I was there two years ago (the only time in my life) and it felt sooo good. Too bad I gained it all back! I had alot of personal stuff going on then though -- now my life is pretty steady and I'm going to keep it off!!

My mini goals are: 20 lbs by Valentines Day (possibly too ambitious but I do well with lofty goals!) And 30 lbs by my mexico trip-- end of March. I definitly want to feel comfortable in a suit for my trip and not be embarrassed by the photos!

I am starting TODAY! I made myself a nice batch on Rosemary Vegetable Soup. And I plan to take a nice long walk to reintroduce my bootie to activity! I already starting recording my food at Fitday.com which I've used before and love.

My plan is to increase activity: Body Sculpt class 2x a week. Cardio 5 times a week. Sit ups, push ups, crunches, planks. I plan to focus on low fat healthy foods. I'll try to stay arounf 1200 cal a day. 8 + glasses of h20 a day. Try to avoid processed diet foods and diet soda. Lots of veggies, protein, and whole grains.

This plan of attack worked really well last time though I think I over did it on the fat reduction (I lost my boobs pretty much completly. And I'm used to being a C- cup!! Waaaa. It was traumatizing!)

Anyway. Here I am! Ready to go!!

Smiles.

Ok... Day 2

Yesterday went really well. My calorie intake was right at 1200. Drank 64 oz of h20. I recorded everything in fitday.

I start the gym today. I'm going to start slow. Maybe bike & treadmill. I'll also weigh myself and get the official start weight! My first body sculpt class will be Wed.

Its New Years Eve-- which could be a challenge but I'm going to try really hard not to drink. I think I'm going to stop drinking for a while. Drinking always throws my diets off.

My friend Kim is up, here in Tahoe, for the week, also. I love her to death but she is one of those friends trhat are kind of toxic when it comes to my diets. She always wants to go out to eat or drinking at the casinos. (Its tough on my wallet too!)

Yea!!! I had a fun. sober. New Years. And I stayed with in my goal range for calories!

Today was a lazy day. My bf and I had the day off and watched movies alll day (he was hung over). I ate well (aka with my calorie range and healthy), drank my water, logged everything into fitday... but didn't make it to the gym.

Dinner was yummy. I made an open -faced sandwich. 1 slice honey wheat bread, toasted , with Deli Turkey (3 oz), horseradish-garlic mayo (1 tsp), 4 slices avocado and thinly sliced red onion. I warmed that all up in the broiler and then topped with swiss cheese. I melted the cheese in the broiler.. viola. Total calories: 464 fat: 28g fiber: 5g carb: 26 (per fitday) I guess it is pretty high in fat. The rest of the day I ate very lowfat foods.

I don't know.. what is good for daily fat intake?? I still kept my calories around 1200 for the day. Fat grams for the day were: 46g. Ouch... that sounds high. I guess I should research what a good daily fat intake is. I always check fitday to see if I'm getting all my nutrients and it gives me a breakdown of my consumption of fat vs protein vs carbs. I should research what the ratio should be... ideally.

Tommorrow is the day for exercise! Also I'm going to do my first weigh in. My starting guess is 165.. we'll see how acurate I am. I plan to weigh in 1 x a week only.

ok I'm getting differing things.. one is 40% carb 40% protein 20% fat... that sounds reasonable.

another is: eat 20-35 percent of calories as fat; 45-65 percent of calories as carbohydrate and 10-35 percent of calories in the form of protein.

Hmm I'm going to have to play around with this. I guess I show try to make sure my fat intake is not more than 30% Maybe stay @ 25-30%.

Wow. how I vary! Looking back through Fitday, yesterday was 12% fat and the day before was 17%. I guess I can let it vary a bit if generally I'm on the low side.

Hey there! I'm here and reading. I think I responded to your other post also.

I laugh when I read your lofty goals part because I'm the same way. I do well with overly ambitious goals because I know I'll have to put 100% in to achieve them. Anything less and maybe I could get away with 90% or 80% then it's all down the drain. Lol.

Thanks for reading! Yeah, I find shooting beyond the realistic goal keeps me motivated and it getts me right where I want to be cause maybe I won't meet the number goals but I'll be excited about how I'm looking and feeling!

Ok it's Weeednesday! Today, I am going to get alot done. Its my last day off before I go back to work.

Today's goals:

* Tons of errands: bank, rent, balance checkbook, post office.
* 64 oz H20
* Weigh in (truely for the first time)
* Go to gym 2x. Am: treadmill , light workout 5:30p: Body Sculpt Class
* Stay with in 1200-1400 calories.
* Grocery shop: ingrediants for caribean shrimp salad from Cooking Light
* Make a food plan for tommorrow @ work.. I find if I don't plan ahead for dieting on work days I can have a bad result.

I really helps me to repeat certain goals and write (type) them. For example water. It helps to remind myself daily: 'Yes, you ARE going to drink 64oz of water.' lol.

Off I go! I'll report how the day went later!

Oh, I definitely always have to pre-plan my meals. If I don't I feel like I have wiggle room that I don't actually have. Lol, that's me, always trying to find the loophole.

I feel like we're leading parallel lives. I have the exact same errands to run, less the Grocery store.

Good luck with the water. I keep a 1.5 liter bottle at my desk and then make sure to drink water in the morning, with every meal and right before I go to bed. It's the only way I can hit my 2.2 liter goal.

Ok so I weighed myself at the gym and I overshot my weight a bit (better than undershooting!!!). I'm at 160 exactly. So 160 will be my start weight. Good day so far. busy. Got all my errands DONE.
Right on target with the H-2-O.

I did 30 min on the treadmill and I'm going to leave for body sculpt @ 5. Made the caribbean salad for lunch -- it was ok. Not amazing but pretty good plus super low in cals/high in protein. Lots of veggies.. including radishes, a food rarely seen by the likes of me!

Ooooo I'm the same way. I'll, like, try to trick myself, lol, which is totally ridiculous!

hey good on you! you aredoing realy well!!

i love the way your goal is the dress! it will feel amazing when you fit into it!

keep it up

;-)

x

Thanks A-n-g-e-l! I wore that dress to a wedding a few years ago and got so many compliments on it! I can't wait to be skinny enough to wear it again!!! I know its gonna happen! By Summer!

Hope you had a good time at the gym. I can't wait to get well enough to go back to working out. Stupid cold! I love coming back from the gym and weighing a lb or two lighter. I know it's just water weight but still I give a little "woo hoo" when I see it. Lol.

Well the class at the gym... hurt!! Whew I am out of shape. The instructer, Sam, runs a real high energy, kick your ass, kind of class. Tons of lunges with weights, crunches planks... ouch. I'll definitly feel it tommorrow. Rest of the day went smooth.

For dinner, I made a roasted combo of potatos, sweet potatos, onions, beets, and carrots with olive oil and rosemary. It was good, healthy, though carby. I probably was craving carbs because of the work out.

You poor thing! I usually get pretty sore too. I was told that if I eat at least 25g of protein after a workout it should help alleviate some soreness.

Another good day. I stayed within my calorie range. I got 28g of fiber. Got enough protein. Los of veggies. It was hard to drink all my water today. I don't know why. I did it though. Did not work out today. My body hurt from yesterday and I felt unmotivated after work.

I made a plan on how to make it easier for myself to make it to the gym! Since I'm the office manager at work I always get way too many hours . So I can afford to take time off here and there and mold my schedule to my needs when we aren't too busy. So I sat down and figured out when I can afford to come in late, or take a two hour lunch or leave early, for the next month. This will help alot cause I'm not to partial to waking up and going to the gym before work, and after work I'm often too exhausted. With this plan of action it will be easier to make it to the gym 5-6 times a week.

The grocery store was packed today with people getting ready for the big storm we're supposed to get! The shelves looked ran-sacked! Many were empty! They are talkng FEET of snow at this point. I really don't mind the snow, I just hope we don't lose power! It may make it hard to work out-- if the roads are real bad. I can try using The fittness channel or a dvd... though my boyfriend will probably tease me mercilessly!!

Speaking of my boyfriend, it was too cute, I made chicken and brussel sprouts for dinner and he LOVED the brussel sprouts. He even went in the kitchen after and ate some out of the pot! Too funny. He's pretty good about the healthy meals.

Awww... your boyfriend sounds like such a sweetie!

I'm with you on working out before work. I find I'm more apt to skip it if it's after work, plus when I work out before work it feels like I started my day off completely productive.
