Jess - The road to happiness and health :)

:smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:

Sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh (especially since something similar has happened to me before), but my goodness that's hilarious!

Did you find that trying to wash it off didn't help? When it happened to me hubby had been making some sort of cheese dip and had cut up jalepeno peppers to put in it. I just remember washing and washing and washing and it just would NOT quit burning! I finally dug out this numbing spray that the hospital gave me after my first baby. It was supposed to be for numbing the pain after an episiotomy, but I ended up not having to have one. But you get to take everything home that's in your room for supplies since you had to pay for them anyway as part of the package deal for delivering at this hospital. That FINALLY made it stop burning!

OMG Tigs, I would have sold my soul for that spray!
I tried the rinsing with cold water but it just burned more :( I just put up with it in the end and it burned for hours! Poor hubby felt SO bad, he's been having cheese and vegemite on his crackers ever since lol.

Hey it's my weigh in day today and guess who's now 69kg's? Bloody hell I've lost 19kg's all together now...
I'm in the 60's! I worked out (OK googled) I'm 152 pounds too.

So stoked, and at work yesterday (Salvation Army) my floor manager started calling me Slim. Lot's of people noticed and it was just lovely.

I'm only 5 kilos from my goal weight. This means I'm definitely going to be a size 12 very soon. My 14 jeans (well a few pairs) are getting loose around the bum. I'm already wearing size 12 tops.

I'm feeling way proud right now. :D

Oh you poor thing! I can't believe you just put up with it and didn't have something to take away the burn.

You SHOULD feel way proud! You've earned it Slim! :coolgleamA:

Congrats. You now weigh the same as me, have lost the same amount of weight and want to get down to the same weight. Lets see if we can get this last bit off.:)
Sorry but I couldn't help chuckling either about you hot spice story and yes I've also had similar happen to me!!

Hey Jess

Sounds like you had a great holiday, and the new job (hopefully) sounds fun.

Congrats on the weight loss. I've been crazy busy and haven't been on here much, but its nice to come back and catch up with everyone. I hope to be online a bit more again from now on.

See ya round

Thanks heaps! Definitely - I've been looking for more but I always dodged the camera so I don't think I have any others...

Thanks Ecky - I think it's funny in hindsight too don't worry ha ha! You too hey? It's seems to be quite a common thing to happen! Bloody men :reddevil: lol
Definitely, we don't have much to go till out goals now - it's lovely to be on the home stretch.

Thanks so much for popping in Anna, I know you've been so busy - I really appreciate it :waving:
Glad to hear you might be on a bit more - hope things are great for you xx
Hoping to hear about the job soon yay!

So all's well here, except it's been majorly hot. We've been swimming every day so that's been good exercise. I managed 8 laps of the huge pool yesterday - have to say I was a bit proud.

OMG when I took the kids to school yesterday (first day back) it was so embarrassing! I was all looking forward to some comments but I ended up getting so many that I was totally blushed and just wanted everyone to stop! I felt like everyone was staring at me. Isn't that weird?
A few of the Mums actually looked shocked! They were all asking 'what's your secret? What have you been doing? It's like they think I found a magic wand or something lol. I just told them loads of exercise and water, and healthy food and they looked disappointed. It was a good feeling overall though once I got out of there :) and hubby said some really nice things last night, that he was very proud of me and everything. I think it might motivate him a bit too.

Food has all been healthy - no change really except I tried the organic oats and they were revolting! :ack2::ack2: I just made them plain with water though... Have bought some skim milk now so I'll try again.
What does everyone put in theirs to make it tasty? I thought about cut up dried prunes maybe?

I always my oats with half skimmed milk and half water and then stir sugarless apricot or strawberry jam in.
I also find it very difficult to have a lot of attention brought to me because of my weight loss but I'm starting to be better at handling it lately. I used to grab my tummy fat and say that I've still got loads of fat to lose but now I just accept the compliments gracefully :)

Thanks so much for the tip, much appreciated - will look for some sugarless jam asap! I might have honey in them tomorrow morning. I didn't end up trying the prune thing yet - forgot to have brekky this morn!

I'm glad it's not just me Ecky - It felt so weird because it was something I was looking forward to but when I was there I just felt embarrassed and wanted to disappear! I did the same thing you mentioned, pointed all the bits out that still needed work. I'll try and be graceful with the next one :) if there is a next one lol :p

Great news about the job - looks like I might have landed full time work! I'm so excited - but here's a silly thing - the uniform is gross! Well it's black pants and a crusty blouse looking top. I'm so not a floral blouse woman... It's a dark red colour. So funny that I would even think about that. Oh well... I'll just do an Anne of Green Gables and imagine it away :willy_nilly:

I have to give the boss a week to sort out the paperwork and then I'm in - well I'm pretty sure. So happy about it. The money will make such a big difference to our little family. Ooh I see a new motorcycle on the horizon... :D
Very very hot day today again so exercise will be swimming with the hubby and kids after school. Hope everyone in QLD is OK - there is a major cyclone coming through tomorrow morning :(

lol that's funny about the handling of the compliments...totally understand though! =) It's hard to know how to handle it! Oh well...Hope you're doing well mate! Congrats on all the progress thus far! Talk to u soon! =p

GRATZ on the new job :)

good to see you got in some exercise in this awful heat (and humidity here in QLD), looking ok for me concerning the cyclone, we should only catch the edge of it assuming it crosses close to where predicted.

Ooo! Congrats on the new job!! You must be so happy!! *hugs*

Thank you again for such kind words in my diary :)

I can't believe you lost weight on your vacation! That's inspiring! I leave for a vacation on sat! And if you can do it, I can do it!!!!

You've been doing such a wonderful job on losing the weight! you should be so proud! And I love that you're selling your old clothes on ebay to buy a bike!! That's awesome! (hopefully you'll be able to get it soon :)

**Oh, and I apologize for giggling at the hot sauce story! Too funny! I'm not sure what I would have done!! And I can't even begin to imagine the pain! OOOW!!! **

heheh *hugs*

have a fantastic day!!!

and congrats on all the wonderful things that are going on for you :)

I like my oatmeal cooked with skim milk and frozen strawberries. Then I dump in some vanilla protein powder. YUMMY!

I know what you mean about all the attention from the other moms. I was cruising right along and had lost around 30 lbs when it seemed like almost overnight people started to notice. My office is near the front desk and once the secretary noticed how much I'd lost, she would drag people over dozens of times during the day to show them. I felt like a freak!

LMAO at the compliments and then them looking disappointed when you told them there were no tricks or secrets :smilielol5:

Much like Anna, I've been pretty busy lately and when I am on here, I'm usually doing something related to my challenge. But today we had a major ice storm and the university is being closed for a couple days, so I had some extra time and wanted to stop by and say hi :)

Day! Thanks so much for popping in :) so good to see you. Hope all is great with you. What challenge are you doing? Best of luck with it :)
Yeah those Mums must have expected me to bust a magic wand out or something ha ha!

Tigs that's outragous! I would have charged each one $5 after a while lol. I like the idea of strawberries in the oatmeal too, thanks for that. We have fresh growing in our veggie garden too. 2 different types.

Thanks soccerrox and Ecky! You guys are awesome!

Thanks Trusylver - glad you're safe and hope the tail end misses you. Man it's so hot an humid here too :(

Tik, you crack me up - thanks mate :)

I made a wicked pumpkin soup last night and had it for lunch today. Very healthy and bloody yum too. I put too much pepper in though... Hey hubby AND my daughter liked it too.

3/4 of a jap pumpkin (fresh from our garden)
Spring onions - about 6 (also from veggie garden)
4 cups of low salt chook stock
A shake of nutmeg and a shake of dried oregano
1 brown onion
1 large potato
1/2 a large purple sweet potato
Pepper
6 cloves of garlic

It made enough for 6 lunches - very nice.

I have my first day of the new job tomorrow - I'm a tad nervous but also excited as well. I'm so keen to be a working woman. I got a full time position too. We won't be that much better off because hubby can't work right now, but at least I'll feel like I'm doing my best. The kids said they are proud of me today. Cate said I look much prettier than I used to and Joel said I am the best Mum in the universe. Bless 'em. I love them so much. I don't ever want them to be ashamed of me...

Peace out! I'm off for a cold shower. It's 7pm here and still 37 degrees. I've got sweat running between my boobs and it feels rough :blush5: So evious of all you snowy people right now.

P.S. When the future boss interviewed me today he mentioned that the uniform (that HIDEOUS blouse I mentioned) has been discontinued - can you believe my luck? Lol

OMG!! Your soup sounds AMAZING *drooling*

I love that you have your own garden! That's so fantastic! I wish I could grow some veggies, but I'm confined to a tiny deck in an apartment! hehe

Good luck tomorrow! You're going to do fantastic :)

MMMmmm I love pumpkin soup. We've got a big crop of Japs this year (still ripening here though :( ) I often make mine with a bit of curry powder. YUM

HAha that's so funny about the hideous blouse being discontinued. Lucky you. I hope whatever they replace it with is ok.

Hey Jess!

First time dropping by your journal and I have to say YOU'RE the real inspiration. AMAZING job with the 19kg lost!!!

Congrats on the full-time job and don't stress. I'm positive you'll do great. Let us know how it goes =)

You totally made me laugh when you said they looked disappointed when you said there wasn't any tricks/secrets. But I know how that can get with compliments. You deserve them; you look amazing!!!

Good luck on your first day!
