Jess - The road to happiness and health :)

So jealous of your awesome weather and swimming! I used to love to swim as a kid/teenager but after putting on all my weight in late teens that dropped right off the radar though would love to get back into it- maybe when I've lost a few more pounds and the moobs have receeded a little!

Yep I have to say we're lucky in Australia for our weather! I can totally relate, I stopped going in the water because I was just too embarrassed as I'd gotten so fat. I'm feeling way more confident now I've lost a bit, and I just want to be as physical as I can so now there's an element of 'stuff everyone else, I'm doing the right thing for my health'. I am still embarrassed bigtime though :(
Thanks Tigs, I like those tankinis too but I just can't wear no sleeves (way too self concious).
Hubby bought me a 1 piece pair of swimmers today SIZE 14!!! Yay! 14!!!

I wore the swimmers this afternoon with a rash top and boardies. Way more comfy!
Food today -
Brekky - 1/4 of a small rockmelon and 6 raw walnuts
Lunch - Teryaki beef and salad wholegrain wrap
Snack - 6 fresh lychees and 1/2 a cup of low fat cottage cheese
Dinner - Chicken and veggie stir fry with raw almonds and brown rice.
Snack - Pink lady apple

Exercise - 1 hour fast walk and then fishing on the river with hubby.
Swim with hubby and the kids after school - 1 & 1/2 hours.
I'll be doing reps with the hand weights a bit later too :)

Oh and yesterday I tried jogging for the first time. I sucked! But I tried :) I did 1 minute run then 2 minutes walk. I managed to do this for 35 minutes and then walked for the last half an hour. I felt proud for trying.

Shitty day emotionally today. My big bro looks as though he's getting divorced and she is totally shafting him. He might lose his job too and she has kicked him out of the house. They have 2 little boys she won't let him see and he is a really good guy who doesn't deserve this!

My Mum's best friend is dying and Mum had to go and say goodbye today as she isn't supposed to last the week out. She is a beautiful, wonderful woman with a heart so big... Emphysema. She smoked for 40 years. I just feel so bad for her and her husband, and poor Mum's a mess.

And to top it off I found out today that a boy we know was stabbed at a party not far from here. His sister is in my daughter's class. What is happening in the world today? The boy is a good kid, very quiet. Just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He nearly died too, but seems to be out of the woods now.

Sorry to hear about all the crap going on in your life but I'm glad that the young boy recovered.
Congrats on your children, you must be so proud.

Ugh, too much stuff going on in your world lately! Hope things start looking up for everyone soon. My brother is going through a divorce, too, but thankfully has custody of the three young boys. It's always tough to see people we love hurting :(

But, on a positive note, you ran and that's awesome! Don't sell yourself short, you should be very proud of that workout!

Oh Jess what a terrible day! The eating was still spot on though so you are managing your emotional eating which is great!! We have a good friend that just had the same thing happen as your brother and I couldn't imagine what he is going through - I'm sure he really appreciates your support.
Great job on trying to jog too! If you keep it up you will notice yourself improving quickly. Running is a great way to clear your mind and relax your brain. Sounds like you could use some of that.
Hope things get better today and some good news comes your way! Take care.

Oh Jess what a sucky time you must be having with all that stuff going on *hugs* I hope things look up for you and your family soon.

Good on you for sticking to eating and exercising though. It's important to focus on yourself in such tough times. It may sound selfish, but without your health you can't stay strong. Go you for running! I used to jog a lot last year before I injured my calf. Its hard at first, but it gets easier, and you find yourself running further and further and it feels so good :)

So sorry to hear about al the rotten stuff going on right now for you. :grouphug:

But the running? You did SO awesome for your first time! When I first started I could only run maybe 30 seconds before I had to stop and walk again. And I only did it for maybe 15 minutes. I thought I would die.

And now I run 7 miles without really thinking about it! You just wait and see - it may be hard now, but at some point in the very near future I bet you'll just be able to take off and go, go GO!!!!

So proud of you!!!!

Thank you so much to everybody - today was so much better, although Mum's friend passed away this morning. She was in so much pain though, so it's better she has peace now. Things are calming down for my brother too, although I'd hate to be in his shoes right now, that's for sure...

I really appreciate everyone's kind words, so sorry to dump my personal crap on you guys!

Tigs, far out! 7 miles... MILES not kilometres! I'm going to try again tomorrow :) you guys really motivate me hey. When I was blobbing along this guy passed me in the opposite direction, running along and he was in the zone, he looked liked it was absolutely effortless. I can't imagine me ever making it to there, but you never know what the future holds :)

Hey Jess :) Thanks for swinging by my journal. I think we used to talk before but I was gone so long I lost touch with just about everybody on this forum. I was reading back a bit to catch up.

Sorry about all the stress goin on but glad you're coping ok. But why are you apologizing? This is YOUR journal...isn't that what its for to get stuff off your chest? Still I'm glad things are goin better, especially that little boy is ok...I thought that kind of stuff only happened here in the states. Stuff has changed so much in the last 10-15 yrs though and not for the better. World is a scary place.

Hey Jess!! Wow! Sounds like a lot has been happening! The good news is that things can only go uphill from here...right? =) Sorry about your brother and his wife...maybe they just need time and then she'll be reasonable. About your mom's friend...she's surely in a better place. Must of have been hard for her here...And that young man, well nothing justifies that...
Hope it doesn't happen again!!
Am glad to hear about the running! Don't worry...maybe some ppl watching you now think you are running "effortlessly" like that stranger!! You never know! =p You're doing great "mate!" lol Talk to ya soon! =)

It sure has changed Jello, that's for sure! I think here in Australia we always felt removed from violence like that (as you said I always thought it happened in America!) but it's getting worse every year here...
We have a lot of gangs in Sydney and what not now :(

Soccerrox, you always cheer me up! 'Effortlessly'... Lol hell no! I'd say it looked a tad more like a beached walrus having a fit! I lost my nerve today, I was going to do the 1 minute thing again but there were people everywhere! I did have a fantastic brisk walk though, until my daughter cut herself on an oyster shell. She's fine, and actually seems quite proud of the 'gigantic cut'. I showed her some of my childhood scars and she was pretty impressed!

Food today was like this:
Brekky - Pink Lady apple and 2 seeded ryvitas
Snack - 1 banana (large)
Lunch - Beef stirfry with brown rice, capsicum, onion, broccoli, carrot, mushroom, chilli and honey/soy marinade.
Dinner - Tomato and baby spinach soup (homemade)
Snack - 1 small mango

Things are great again, well for my little family anyway. Christmas is getting so close, and one of my favoutite things EVER is watching the kids tear into their presesnts :) :santa:

I WAS all done with present buying but stumbled onto a Spongebob Squarepants toaster today! It's so cool, and my son LOVES toast with vegemite every morning for brekky. It actually cooks a Spongebob onto the bread. So awesome... They're going to <3 it.

That toaster sounds so cool!! I wish they made a Metallica one because I would buy it for my hubby - he loves his toast too!
I haven't bought a single present yet! Hopefully get that done this weekend.
Your food log is looking great! I bet you will have a good weigh-in this week!! Keep it up Jess - have a great weekend!:waving:

A Metallica toaster would be so cool! I'm a bit of a fan myself :)
The shops here are getting to be an absolute nightmare and there's never any parking spots :( but the bonus there is we have to walk further ha ha! Good luck with your pressie buying this weekend Lisa :)

As for today's weigh in - STOKED!!! I lost 1.5kg this week
I'm still following the weird pattern of small loss then big loss. Bizarre but it's all good because it makes me be more patient!

I'm now OVER half way :) :) :hurray::hurray:
Only 11 kg's till my goal of 64 kg.

WOW Jess. That is so great! You are in the ZONE!

I fell off the wagon a bit this week, but I'm back in the game and have had a great workout this morning.

Sounds like you're all sorted for xmas too. I'm going to start planning xmas eve and day food (we've got guests and everyone coming for xmas day), I need to plan my week of food shopping too which is fun.

Thanks Anna! Yeah I really tried this week, I SO want to get to a 14 all over by mid January.
Glad you got straight back on the wagon, this time of year hey? Re Christmas, I'm so glad it's just my little family for lunch/dinner and what not. It will be so much easier! Hubby wants to have roast lamb so that's easy to do too :)
Best of luck with the shopping and planning Anna, I love cooking for people still, even though I don't always eat what I cook anymore. Well done on the workout :)

Here's a pic from today. I was feeling great after getting out of the shower post weigh in so I thought I'd get hubby to take a pic. I'm starting to look curvy and not just fat (I think!).
