Jericho's Potter/Disney World trip challenge/diary

Kudos for resisting temptation!


Oh man, I would kill for a trip to the Harry Potter world. KILL, do you hear me??!
I'd live there if I could, you know. Spend eternity with those magical people.

We wondered that too but it seems she likes the pasta and cheese fries. She is a really picky eater (I blame it on my sister and mom putting her in all those pagents as a kid. I swear she is going to grow up to be another Hilton or that Snookie chick. They spoil the hell out of her).
 
DAY 5: 363.8


meh....ok that is a little discouraging but then again, I always seem to see the weight drop on a weekend. It just has me a little disappointed. On top of that, Amy is getting depressed over finances (mainly added with she hasn't been able to work in almost 2 years cause no one is hiring for her field). The talk we had last night really laid hard on me.

Least I didn't turn to food when I got depressed too so that's a victory.

DAILY TIP/MODIVATIONAL STORY: When I think that I'm failing, sometimes I think back to my other Disney trips and seeing people who can't be all that much older than me on the electrical scooters because they can't handle the walking in the park. They often are so overweight that it is scary. That scares me that I could reach that point. Hell at 400 I should have been that but for some reason even at 400 I could walk rings around most people at those parks. It does scare me that if I stay this weight that my knees will be blown by 45.
 
At least you understand that is a possible outcome of your weight. Most people go through their entire lives with the "it won't happen to me" attitude. I think this makes you much more likely to complete your goals, as you understand the risk from not completing them.
 
Has to be the properties. If you are going to do it, you have to do it right. I am a DVC owner but I have stayed at most of the resorts, we even stayed at the honeymoon suite in the Grand Floridian the night I proposed to her.

That's a whole story I should tell one day. It was a biggie.

Taken a step further, my moto droid has a few calorie counting and weight tracking apps available. I downloaded a few of them to try, but ended up sticking with one called "calorie counter" by fat secret. You can track your weight and your exercise, as well as keep a food diary. You can search through restaurant foods to add, search by brand, keyword, type of food, etc. What I like the most is that is uses the phones camera as a barcode scanner so you can look up foods by barcode. I'd never count calories if I didn't have this option on my phone.

I'm right with you on this one. I was over 475 at one point and didn't even know it. I figured I was around 380. I should have known when I realized I couldn't walk long distances without getting lower back pain. My dad had a knee reconstruction in his 30's. He was supposed to get his other knee done, but never has. THAT scares the hell out of me.

Awww, that's so cool! I love Disney so much. And I am so spoiled being an hour from the parks (I don't even have to pay to get in, lol) but I still love staying at the hotels.

BTW, love the new avatar!
 
DAY 6: 362.8

Ok, it dropped down. That's good but now I wonder how accurate the 360 is. This one is a little short cause I'm heading out with Amy.
 
DAY 7: 361.4

Well, as predicted the weight is dropping on the weekend but I do question now just how accurate that first weigh-in was. I suddenly shot up 4 pounds that I've been dropping all week? Odd but oh well. I was ahead of the game with that drop so we will see tomorrow if I drop below the 360 mark or level off a little. I'm in good spirits though. Things are moving along nice and steady.

DAILY TIP/STORY: I've started to keeping a sticky note on my ATM card. It has my current weight on it so if I am tempted to buy something I shouldn't, it is a small nudge to remember the impact on my journey.
 
Weren't you having battery problems with the scale? maybe that is messing with the output. Either way, the number is moving in the right direction, keep up the good work!

Thats a pretty good idea! My mum found a picture of me at my heaviest the other day and I keep it with all my bank cards to remind me I never wanna go back. :)
 
Day 8: 360.0

Ok that's it. I'm getting new batteries for that scale lol. After one week I am back where I started. That's ok though cause I was ahead of pace to begin with. My goal is simply to be under the 360 mark by the end of this month. Easy enough and it will give me a great running start towards my ultimate goal.

Also, tomorrow will be fun for diary readers. Starting tomorrow, I will attach a different disney picture that I've taken as part of my modivation. Also, tomorrow I'm going to tell the engagement story of Amy and me.

Here is a hint..it involves disney :p

Oh and tonight I'm going to fully start the EA Active following their workout plans. Don't think I'll make it all the way though but it's worth a shot.

DAILY TIP/MODIVATION: I was thinking on this one and I'll say that my modivation for today is the fact that in my closet are some Disney hawaiianish shirts I use to love wearing on my off days when Amy and I would go out. I'd love to wear those again.

I'm excited to see your pictures and hear your engagement story too! I am such a Disney freak and a Potter freak! I'm not going to Disney this year but I am going to Universal in September or October (haven't decided yet) to see the new Potter stuff. I can't wait to go. That trip is kind of inspiring me too because I definitely want to look and feel better about myself before my vacation. Hope you reach all of your goals! :)
 
DAY 9: 360.0

Ok guys, I'll just quickly say my weight stayed which is fine. That's not why you are reading today is it ;)

Here we go. First, a little background. Amy and I met, so to speak, while I was working over in Kuwait. She and I had both joined Match.com. She is the one who found me cause for some really odd reason, they suggested me to her even though I put in my profile I was in Kuwait. We started talking and off we go. We first met on one of my R&Rs for a full on Disney trip. After that first trip together, I already knew she was the one. That's when I began planning. After a while, I was moved over to Iraq to work. It was just after Christmas that I enlisted my mother's help to make this work. She got the ring together for me while I did some other things. The day in question would be my birthday on Feb 20. Why not Feb 14? honestly? I thought she would see it coming. Turns out that is what Amy was thinking too. Seems after I asked her father for her hand (traditionalist), he went and told her. gees..so when she and I was talking before the trip, I had to feed her some lines about not wanting to propose till I was back from Iraq. Good thing I did cause she says now she would have been heartbroken thinking I was going to propose on the 14th and it didn't happen.

That's so cute! She looks so shocked!! I met my Yank on the internet..I got a lot of shit for it from friends but we spent MONTHS talking before we even talked about meeting. Gotta love the interwebs. Connecting shy people all over the world!

Anyway--keep fighting. My scales need new batteries too..Very confusing numbers coming out of mine! Hope you're well xxx *hugs*
