Jenny's Weight Journal

Hey all I thought I should just drop in and give ya a little update. I had my first physical therapy session today. My PT is a guy but he's like in his 40's like my dad which is odd for me lol...but at the office there was a guy about my age who was having PT for his leg or something. But anyways. My PT session when well. I have my list of exercises that I need to do 3-4 times a day. I go back next week...i have to go 3 times a week. I am now back at work. It's interesting to say the least. I have my boss asking me all the time if I am feeling ok. I am slowly working towards some normal exercises...I want to go out and walk but I am half scared that I will strain my knee even more. Well things are starting to look up I guess...no surgery for now :D

Glad to hear things are improving. Getting back in the game can be one of the scariest things ever, but I think in the end its the only thing you can do. You know to listen to your body & you'll know the difference between it being whiny & being in pain. Good luck & glad you aren't facing surgery.

Hey everyone! This really isn't a weight update...just more of a weather update lol. If any of you have been following the flooding going on in Northwest Ohio...well one of the counties that got hit badly is the one I live in. Luckily most of the flooding for my town had gone down....can't say the same thing about a town east of here though. God forbid if we weren't in a drought and all of the riverbeds and ditches were full...just think of the situation we would be in right now.

On through out monday we got about 2 inches of rain. Then monday night between 12am-4am we got 2 1/2 inches of rain...and then between 4 and 6 we got another 2 1/2 inches! My mom woke me up at 6am when my dad was going to leave for work but couldn't because our street had a foot and a half of standing water. About 6:30am me and my mom walked/sloshed around in the water taking pictures of the flooded town. Most of the water has receeded by now...but if we get the rain the weather men are calling for over the next few days...we will be back at square one.

If any of you are interested in pictures of THE FLOOD I got a lot posted. Just click this link below:

And I aslo have a little update on my whole knee problem. I saw my doctor yesterday. My visit didn't go as great as I hoped. He thinks the physical therapy has helped it but he is still concerned about the pain that I am still having plus the inflamation I still have around my knee. He wants me to continue my PT and wants me to have a bone scan done. He wants to see if I have something going on in my lower leg that is cause such bad pain. He also thinks that since I had just learned about me having thyroid problems and only been on my medication for it for 2-3 weeks can cause my joints to hurt. I guess throids can cause bad joint pain if your thyroixin is off.
If my docotor doesn't figure out what is going on in my knee he wants to get in it and "dig around"...with this type of surgery i would be on crutches once again for a few days. and will be out of work up to 4 weeks since my job is a standing job not a sit down job. which sucks even more.

So with my knee still acting up I still haven't done much exercising except for my PT exercises.

Well that all i got for now. TTYAL!

Ug... hope things improve for you.

Send that rain on down my way if you want. ... just maybe not all that rain!

Good luck with the bone scan. Hopefully at the end of it all you will find out how you can be comfortable again & be able to get exercising all you want, not just for PT.

Hey all!

PT is still going good. Last week I just had a bad week with my knee. Now I just have dull ache in it. I had found out this past week that there is an open seat in my Major for this fall. I wasn't suppose to be in my major until this next fall. So with the 2 open seats for this year I got bumped up. I was really excited at first. Then I realized I would have to rearrange my enitre school class schedule (add/drop classes). I was oringinally going only 2 days a week. I am now going 5 days a week. I have 3 lectures and 3 labs. My book bill is going to be through the roof. Past quarters I have managed to keep my book bill between $100-200...now it's looking to be close to 400+.

Along with my schedule change for school my work schedule will have to change with it. I was going to work the afternoons on the other 3 days I had off of school. Now that I can't do that I will have to work weekends and evenings. Wow! my plans completely changed all in one day.

I also discovered that my old school didn't send my new school my college transcripts. So I am now dealing with that ordeal too. Once my school gets my transcripts I might be able to get more student loands which will be great.

So with all of my school plans changing I might be done and graduated by Spring of 09! instead of 2010-2011!

So ya...my mind has been spinning all day. My room is a mess. I have so much stuff to do. i don't even know where to begin. I am stressing out over school already and classes have yet to start!

Lets hope that I don't get any more suprises. I still need to do that bonescan so keep your fingers crossed!

Well I have done my ranting for today! Talk with ya all laters!

Good Morning...

It's gonna be another hot one today...sunny and hot like usual. Yesterday I went grocery shopping with my mom so I was able to buy healthier foods for me. I have noticed that no one in my family will go out of their way to buy healthy snacks but are all for the junk food. I bought some grapes and bananas, apples. I have some turkey and these special K bars.

I learned this past week that my mom has very high cholesterol. I think she said it was 294! Thats like 100+ points over the healthy range. I guess high cholesterol runs on her side of the family. So she is now on medication for it. The funny thing is though is that she is 5'0" and like 125lbs. So her cholesterol has nothing to do with weight it's all genetic. With this little bit of information I got to thinking on how high mine is. I haven't got it checked or anything but I bet it's higher than it probably should be.

With my knee slowly getting better maybe I can finally convince my mom to walk with me. It would be good for me and for her with her High Cholesterol.

I think I am finally getting back tothe point where I can start exercising again. I just need to pay close attention to my knee to make sure I don't over kill it and injure it once again. With my PT finishing this week I think I will continue my PT exercises just to help it out some more. I might also do the same exercises with my other knee to make that one stronger too.

Well that all for now. Will post later :jump:

FOOD LOG:

~8am
1 bowl of special k cereal w/ skim milk
handfull of grapes

~10:30am
handfull of grapes
special k snack bar
bottle of water

In addition to genetics, cholesterol can also be related to diet -just because a person isn't overweight doesnt mean their diet is healthy... hopefully she'll go out on walks with you - it'll keep you both motivated :)

I didn't get the chance to post again yesterday to finish my food log.
Here's today's food log.

~Breakfast 10:00am
Bowl of Special K cereal w/ skim milk

~lunch (12-1pm)
side salad w/ Ranch
2 rolls :( ....shoulda only had one but I ate 2
1 piece of pizza pep/bacon....(today was our buffet day at work)
1 bottle of water

~Snack 3:00pm
special K chocolate drizzle bar

~Dinner 6:00pm
3 apple slices
Hot turkey sand. w/ lite mozz cheese & very little mayo
1 banana
7.7 fl oz bottle of water

I am finding once again that keeping a food log is helping me. If I see what I all have to eat on one meal or in one day I can watch more carefully what I put into my mouth.

I want to go on a walk today by it is so darn hot out. It got up to 96 today...with a higher heat index. If it cools down this evening I will go and walk. Mother nature is playing games with us again...it's beautiful one day and the next it is humid and muggy and hot as heck.

I've got 2 weeks until I start school. I am hoping i can drop 5lbs by then. That would make my bad summer end well I guess. My summer hasn't been horrible..I mean it could be worse...but my summer wasn't the greatest either....Lets hope I can keep losing wait through this school quarter. I will be very busy so I might not have time to post every day. I will just have to see how the first week goes.

I hear yah on having to see in writing what I am eating for it to sit in. Like today, I have been tracking it all on my sparkpeople page & course I'm over on calories! Argh. Maybe tomorrow. But at least I am guzzling water like a champ!

Hope things work out for you & your mom. The walking sounds like a great idea.

Food Log (continued)

~Snack 8:00pm
special k chocolate drizzle snack bar
1 bottle of water

Exercise Log

100 sittups (2reps of 50) w/ gymball
20 push ups w/ gymball
20 inner thigh squeezes w/ gymball
20 butt ups w/ gymball

Using a toning rope I did 3 different arm exercises. 20 of each and for each arm.

Didn't get a walk in today. It was way too hot. By the time it actually cooled down it was dark. I might have to dig out that indoor walking dvd again.

***I also did my PT exercises for my knee using a 1lb ankle weight.

Wonder if one of those indoor trampolines would be good for you to walk on (while watching Tv or something)? Jumping might be too much on your knee but I wonder if marching on it would be low impact enough. I got one a few years ago & I don't think it was very much. I used a LOT more before I got the tread mill. Helped to go longer for me being able to watch TV & not just pacing around the house back & forth.

Not sure. The only thing I have every uses that for was at PT when they had it proped up. I had to stand on my bad knee/leg balance my weight and through a medicine ball into it and catch it 20 times (2 reps) Not the easiest thing to do.

Well if it's not one thing it's another.....allergy season is at it's highest in this area i guess. Me I usually don't have allergy problems but not this time around. My family has been battling allergies all week. I thought I was in the clear once again. But I was wrong. I woke up this morning to a sore throat, stuffy nose. Throughout the day my head has been pounding, eyes watery, and hard sneezing. I just can't seem to get a break. Well I am off to bed. I don't want to fight this head ache and eye pain any more. Night alls. hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Hello all! Well my allergies are still bugging me. But today isn't as bad as yesterdays. It seems like they are slowly going away. My nose still wants to put up a fight but hopefully by mid week there will be no signs of this bad allergie sinus thing I have. About 20 minutes ago I got out that walking DVD that has been collecting dust over the past few months. I put on my knee brace and started the 15 minute mile indoor walk. Let me tell you it must have worked it's magic on me because I am sweating a lot. My knee is doing better I guess. It still has this dull ache that just won't go away and it is still a little swollen. I finished my PT last week. The phyiscal therapist thought I should have more PT done but they also thing that I should wait to see what my bone scan come back with. The don't want me to do PT if it's not going to help it any more. So now I just have to continue doing my home exercises with it to keep it at the stage that it is at and wait and see what my doctor thinks.

I start school in a week. I can't wait but then again like any student I don't want my summer to end. (even though mine has sucked). Tuesday I have to make my tuition payment! wooohooo. And sometime this week I need to find the time to drive to campus and buy my books that will cost me a lovely $500. A week from tomorrow I have my Orientation into the program and a week from Tuesday I have my first full day of class. I am excited. I really want to get my degree started and be done with school.

Ooooo! even better news for you all!! The guy that we bought my car from last year found a transmission for my car. (actually 2 of um) If one don't work he'll try the next one. And it will only cost around $800 so that's another good thing about it. My partents said that next summer if my car last till then that they will get me a new car and give mine to my brother for his first car. We will take it over tomorrow and hopefully it will be done by the end of the week for me to drive to school with!

Someone asked me if I would want my car back. I told them that I would love to have my car back. Even though it gave me problems over the past year I would totally take it back. I miss my car!

So here is my fall/early winter out look:

School 5 days a week
Work when I can
Get 30 hours of job shadowing in before dec. 1st
exercise and finally lose this weight
figure out what the hell is going on in my knee....

That's just the major things. Im sure there will be a lot more stuff that needs to be done lol.

That's all for now!!

OMG WHAT A DAY!!!!!!!

I spent most of the morning/afternoon (before and after work) dealing with some school stuff. Trying to get a hold of the Financial Aid Department is harder then it should be. No one would answer their phones! I would call one desk and the in voice box would be full so it would transfer me to another line which then would give me a list of options like press 2 if you want...so on and so forth. I did that several times just to find that all the lines were not being answered. No one "seemed" to be there. I was like ok maybe they were busy. So I drove 30 minutes so school to buy my books and talk to the Financial Aid department face to face since the phone wasn't much of an option. While sitting in the waiting room I discover that all the student employees where stapeling papers together. Letting the phone ring. The one girl told another employee to let the phone ring and let the call transfer over. They were purposely not answering the phone!!!!!!!

After spending a confussing15 minutes in the financial aid department I went over to the book store. I had a very cute guy help me find my books. We made small talk and I found out that he was in the same major as me and was in 2 of my classes which was a plus. He offered to hold my books for me while I stood in line. I asked him how much he spent on his books for the quarter since we were taking the same classes. He said he was going to wait till I bought mine to learn how expensive it was to be. The lady at the register was ringing me up. When the total showed $601.46 I about cried! My face must have gone pale or something because the lady at the counter asked me if I was ok and if I was ok to drive home. I knew the lady farely well from seeing her off and on over the past year around campus. She was quite concerned about me. I told her I was fine. Paid and left. 601! that 100 more then I was thinking I was going to spend!!! These books must be the best books out there because $158 fro one single book is a little much.

After my stressful afternoon I went and got low lights put into my hair costing me more money but I thought I need to splurger now before I can't do it in 2 months. My hair is sooo sweet looking. It is a lot darker. I will post a pic once I get my camera fully charged.

Ok I have vented all of my stress away. I am going to go and do my walking DVD or do something....lol

Here's a pic of my new doo. I will change my avatar later. Just for now I will leave it as is so all of you can make a comparison. My hair is so much darker! The darkness really makes my eyes pop!
